Stayed here ffor 3 nights, before a week cruise on the Danube. Loved all the history, the beauty of the lights at night, the food and the shopping. Great start of our adventure to Eastern Europe. Conceirge made best recommendations for dinner and activities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dreamworks Amazing Location for a Grand Hotel
This hotel has so many things going for it. First, is the location, which is directly in the center of Pest, and located above the only transfer station for all of the Metro lines.
Second is the look and feel of the hotel which is old and regal. The staff makes you feel special here, which I wish I believed was because of my status, but I think everyone gets the same treatment. The hotel had a nice gym also.
The only reason I knocked this hotel a star was that housekeeping was very inconsistent. They would take towels and not return them, and I'd tell the front desk about it and it kept happening. Not a huge deal, but not what you expect from a full-service hotel.

Stayed here a total of 4 nights. Two as a guest of Viking River Cruises and two nights using points as a gold member. At check in I arranged to use 3000 points per person for breakfast for the award night stay. On day three, my award stay, I was presented with a bill for breakfast while starting to eat. When I told the maitre'd that I had arranged to use points I was told this was not possible.
I left and went to the front desk who were no help. Later when meeting with Gabor Redling who noted the hotels mistake, after he checked to see that additional points were deducted. He offered no apology, so we left the hotel to eat elsewhere

I am a Platinum member and we choose to spend our wedding anniversary at the Meridien in Budapest as part of a European holiday. The hotel is very beautiful and the front desk staff and concierge were very nice and helpful. We were given an upgraded room that was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The location is ideal for touring the city.
Two negatives: housekeeping was a bit sloppy (I had to dust my night table every night) and it was a continual battle to get an extra towel. One day it was a battle just to get towels. The room reverberated with the rumble of subways passing underneath. Perhaps this is not a problem on higher floors.

The Le Meridien in Budapest is a lovely hotel .. actually the nicest I've yet seen in my travels in the Le Meridian chain. The hotel lobby is nice, the food is very good, the rooms great, and a solid internet connection the entire stay. It's also in a great location, perfect for the subway system, and right just a short walk from the great shopping area - Vaci Street. Plus, one of the concierges -- Norbert -- has been superb in helping with every aspect of the trip.
I would give the hotel a 5 rating if it weren't for one flaw - the cigarette smoke. People can smoke in rooms, and the horrible smell of smoke seeps from one room to the other or out into the hallway, so that one is forced to breath the stench of smoke in an otherwise lovely place. The hotel could be so much better if it created non-smoking floors, and kept smokers far away from the rest of us, or better yet eliminated smoking anywhere inside the building.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Leea Poorly run and not enough english by key personel
A misunderstanding about the room rate was not resolved. We were told an up grade would cost $70.00,then told we could spend the amount toward meals etc. I really felt overcharged ,and could not explain my problem to the staff.
