We had an amazing week-long stay at this hotel, and would recommend it highly to others. It's such a good option that we're not sure staying on Bora Bora would necessarily be better. We upgraded to a bungalow and loved it - panoramic views of Moorea, clear water, and fish swimming right swimming right below your room. All of the hotel staff treated us very well. The breakfast is excellent, as are the two restaurant options (great French food). We also really enjoyed the free activities, especially the sand bottom pool, snorkeling, kayaking, acquagym & acquabike. There's a shopping center right next door with a good Italian restaurant, grocery store, pharmacy, and an amazing artisan jeweler I'd highly recommend if you are in the market for pearls (Art D'Or).

We travel a lot, and this is the best experience that we have had. Of course, Tahiti is gorgeous, and the hotel's shoreline itself provides excellent snorkeling, but the staff really makes you comfortable. We visited Bora Bora Meridien, which oozes luxury hotel, but when we returned here, we felt that we had come home. manager Nicolas goes out of his way to make guests feel comfortable,and his staff follows suit.

Everything about my stay and experience at the Le Meridien Tahiti has been exquisite! I am a SPG Gold member and checked in to my 6th floor Panoramic Ocean View room upon arrival. The view was simply STUNNING!!! Relaxing sunsets and gorgeous sunrises filled my days and nights; while at the Le Meridien. The room was lovely, very clean, air-conditioned, spacious, a large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, flat screen TV, a comfy king size bed and a sleek modern look. LOVE!!!
What set the stage for my stay here was the teammates that went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. They were tremendously helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was more than satisfied with the hotel services. ALL of them, not just one but all! The bottle of champagne waiting in my room, the welcome note from the general manager, the teammate who always made sure I had a beverage/lounge chair at the pool, the teammate who requested special food preparation for an excursion, the teammate who made sure my room service was prompt and concise. They ALL knew my name and they ALL treated me like one of their own. The attention to detail is what made the difference!!!!
They rolled out the red carpet and made my time in Tahiti simply amazing. This is Starwood Preferred Guest at it's best. Wonderful vacation!!!!!!!!

We arrived August 2012 for 5 days and were upgraded to a wonderful room on the 4th floor
that was spotless and very comfortable.
The staff at the hotel did everything they could to make us feel welcome, they were glad to help us any time we had a question about the resort.
My wife is Belgian and a food addict, she found the food above average and the Friday night show is not to be missed.
We loved it so much we are returning this year for 8 days, and plan on yearly trips to the hotel.

Stayed at Le Meridien for 2 nights of our honeymoon after a 7 day cruise. I expected a let down from the cruise on Paul Gauguin (Moorea and Bora Bora were awesome), but was pleasantly surprised. I am glad we stayed here. It enhanced our honeymoon experience.
I booked a King junior suite using points (about the only bargain using points in French Polynesia). I was able to contact the hotel directly and get upgraded to an over the water bungalow (5000 points a night extra). The staff that responded to my many emails were excellent (Nathalie and Valerie).
The staff at the hotel all exceeded my expectations. Check in with Julien was a delight. He offered me the choice of several amenities for my gold status including wifi which I took. Signal in the farthest bungalow out was adequate to stream TV from my DVR at home. Got a late checkout and the day of departure Tino (sp?) extended it to 6p.m. so we didn't have to leave our room until it was time for the cab ride to the airport. You don't know how nice that was! Tino also was very helpful on several other occasions.
We speak no French, and it was clear that most of the staff did not have full command of English. But, everyone was terrific, friendly, and patient. I wondered at one point if they had mistaken me for a travel critic. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.
We had a couple of requests like for a top sheet on the bed and a different pillow and they responded very quickly.
We had a couples massage in their spa. Outdoor area was very pleasant with the sound of many birds chirping, children playing and a piano playing somewhere. Above average deep tissue massage at a reasonable charge. I don't remember seeing anywhere that they promoted the couples massage. We just happened to ask.
The property is gorgeous. Ask about their botanical tour. Took a few photos and they look like a postcard. Again, I expected kind of a let down from other islands. They have a markers on different plants on their property and a reference guide (a map would have helped). View of Moorea from our bathroom, and views of the crystal clear water and lots of fish from our balcony. Went snorkeling and were not disappointed. Toss some rice into the water (hope that's ok) and got swarms of fish under our balcony.
The surf breaks maybe 1/4 mile from the bungalows and you can hear it clearly in the bungalow. Very soothing. Woke up one a.m. to a bird that made a kissing sound. My wife and I now imitate that.
Ate lunch at the hotel, and it was ok. Partly my fault for not asking more about what I was ordering. Waitress was also very helpful and eager to serve. Cost was not unreasonable.
We were directed to a market a short walk away and found that they had take out food. Delicious and relatively cheap. Coming off the cruise we weren't looking for culinary delights.
The bungalows were incredibly romantic with gorgeous views. I don't know what other rooms in the hotel are like. We had no flying insect problems at all. But, we were a little apprehensive having read othe reviews and then discovering that there are no screens or glass in the windows (and mosquito netting over the bed with lots of gaps). Windows had wood blinds that don't appear to be air tight. Got a nice breeze with all open. But, ran AC most of the time (is that new?). Bungalows looked like they could use a little maintainance and updating. You have to go back to the beach to get into the water and there is no glass floor to view the fish from inside the room. We knew this going in.
If you're on a budget or need to use points in Tahiti this would be a good place to try. If you have the bucks to spend, the over water bungalow experience is probably better elsewhere in Tahiti. but, we'd go back here again.

Exceeded all expectations. Nick ,the manager, was extremely helpful and all staff were friendly and very helpful . My wife and I spent 21 days and enjoyed everyone of them. We can reccomend this Hotel very highly. Gardens and property around the Hotel were exceptional.

Papeete isn't our actual destination, but due to flights we sometimes stay a night either on our way to other islands, or on our way back home. On our most recent trip in April 2011, we stayed here and we very surprised. Be realistic though - staying in Papeete cannot be compared to the other islands. But in comparison to other luxury properties we've stayed at, the Le Meridien is one I would return to without hesitation. The hotel is very clean. The beach is reasonably clean and well maintained. The restaurants are reasonable and accommodating. The staff is welcoming and friendly.

As a Gold Member, we were upgraded from a Senior Suite to the Presidential Suite which was nice. Items of concern:
1. The fine dining restaurant, Le Carre, allows smoking throughout the outdoor and indoor sections. The hotel does not post this information and it made the meal unpleasant.
2. The food was okay but not outstanding. Servers tried to provide good service but not well trained.
3. I accidentally spilled my cocktail almost as soon as it arrived and they charged me for the replacement. When I mentioned this to the maitre d', Benjamin, he didn't do anything about it.
4. The front desk will book airport transfers for you and the transfer to the hotel is charged to your room. The return, however, is not charged to the room and I was not informed of this. Had to run through the airport to a cash machine to get more francs for taxi driver.
5. The front desk is helpful in booking excursions but I was surprised that a resort of that caliber and size didn't have a concierge on duty during our stay.
