Rated 3 out of 5 by Platinum Status The Meridien Nice has fantastic location Generally staff are 110% - efficient , willing & eager to please BUT Hotel in general does not recognise Platinum Guests - whenever I asked for something i.e. 4.00pm check out ( I did over 75 nights last year in SPG Hotels & our company of which I am CEO spent circa £400,000 ) I was told not so politely we are a Resort Hotel ( or otherwise P off ) I tried to use suite nights - Impossible although suites still available ) etc etc May 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by form over function in junior suite Staff and location excellent. Bed good. Breakfast poor - bad coffee, bad bread, too crowded. TERRIBLE smell on balcony - from drains. Room not as comfortable as hoped - chairs and sofa uncomfortable, no drawers, no bathroom hanging space, No free wifi despite being promised. No coffee maker as promised. Every member of staff really nice and well trained. Roof top bar lovely. May 14, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Promised pool facility is useless ! The hotel states that they offer a pool facility on the roof-terrace which is false marketing. They do indeed have a miniature pool on the roof. But there is no space to lay around the pool, and no sun-chairs or sun-beds. The little pool is fenced off right by the water-line by a glass fence which has a restaurant on the other side. Unless you like to swim in a small tub surrounded by lunch-eating spectators the pool is useless. Better spend your money on a smaller city-hotel and rent a sunbed at one of the nice beach-clubs. If you don't care about the pool, or come in the winter, this is a nice hotel with a great location, comfortable rooms, and very friendly staff. May 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by huge mistake in front desk I arrived at Nice midnight. The emplyee is the front desk gave me the wrong room. I showed the my resevation in my smart phone's application, but he didn't show any attention and read that. I said to him my last name as Jung, but he recognized my last name as Jang. I think the education of English should be included for reception employee. May 12, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I was resting comfortably in bed, half-asleep wehn I heard a knock, followed by my door bing opened & the cleaning lady barging into my room at 8:30 in the morning. This obviously woke me & my partner from our comfortable slumber on a morning we had wanted to use to relax. The hotels half hearted apology. I also would expect wifi to be complementary in at hotel with such a rating. I certainly wont be returning for business or pleasure to any Meridien Hotel. May 9, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disapointed The greeting and quality of the room left much to be disired. The room was rather run down and needed a fresh coat of paint. The staff were very off and had a take it or leave it attitude and didn't really seem to be bothered about customer satisfaction. On the last morning I was even woken by the cleaners at 8.45 who were in a desperate rush to evict us form the room. The only positive point is the view... but there are several hotels in Nice with this. May 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ideal location The Hotel is located in the perfect spot in Nice. Near the best shops and sites of Nice. Some of the amenities are a little bit older and need renovations. However you have all the features of a good 4 star hotel. However location makes up for any short comings. In the area you will find tons of restaurants. In addition the staff was superb and extremely helpful. May 6, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Mediacore hotel in a stunning location. We were very underwhelmed. As SPG Platinum member we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room with sea view and “balcony” – the room was on the small side and the balcony was a “French” balcony, e.g. one can hardly stand on it, and it has only one small door to access it: In short if this is the best available room: I don’t even want to know what their superior rooms look like – especially at these kind of rates. Towels in the room had skid marks on them (and worst was not replaced after service), the bath sinks looked very dirty. The two complimentary bottles of water we finished after day one, were not restocked, nor did we receive new bathroom amenities. The card reader on the door worked very badly – we struggled each and every time to get the door open (literally taking 7 or more swipes to get in) – one morning we met a lady from housekeeping who was working on the floor: she looked at us struggling with the door, looked us in the eyes and subsequently walked away – an embarrassing gesture. One of the worst starwood breakfast selections ever experienced: we arrived the first morning at 09:20 – the breakfast closes at 10:00. During the breakfast we were approached three times by the same lady hostess (once by walking into the restaurant, once while at the table, once while walking the buffet) who asked for our room number. In general there was an extreme amount of staff, all running around and being “very busy” – we were not sure with what or whom… we had the last two mini croissants (they were not restocked), when we asked we were told they were “finished” – there was unripe fruit (green bananas), canned orange juice (I literally saw a waiter pour two cartons of juice into a steel container before re-pouring it into the serving containers on the buffet), tasteless processed ham and cheese (a “hotel block”) and the worst “Illy” coffee I ever tasted. When I complained to the manager I was told that there were in fact fresh juices, but had not been stocked, the fruit was ripe and that the coffee could not be bad because it was Illy – all in a very hostile and “you are the only one complaining” kind of way (we overheard a German and Dutch family complaining as well). The pool on the rooftop is so tiny you can hardly swim in it and the beautiful rooftop terrace was dead on both nights. The location itself is stunning (Promenade Anglais is one of the most beautiful boulevards in the world and the city of Nice is very, - well -, nice) but this hotel, remaining as one of the few Le Meridien’s in France does not put any justice to its name, location nor expected service level and that is highly unfortunate. Upon complaining to the hotel's director of rooms, I received a long email essentially mentioning that "I missed the items that were not on the buffet and that there are in fact fresh juices" - he also pointed out that our room was serviced twice and all towels and bathrooms were cleaned up to standards - even though the pictures I took speak for themselves. I did not receive a reply after trying to initiate another email to receive an apporiate compensation. May 21, 2012
