Rated 2 out of 5 by Just a decent place to lay your head We redeemed our points here before joining a river cruise. Our first view of Paris was of a hotel roof - our points just got us a first floor room. The concierge seemed to just tolerate our questions, which were asked in English. On the plus side - it was steps to the metro and the bed after a long flight was wonderful. We emailed to say that we would appreciate an early check-in after a long flight; it was very helpful to take a nap before an evening of sight seeing. July 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by A few minutes walk from the triumphal arch This hotel is conveniently located close to the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile. The staff here are charming and do seem to go out of their way to help, which is not something I have found at all Parisien properties. The hotel was refurbished a few years ago, it looked great during the last stay. Now, the stylish interior is starting to look unloved; there are many scrapes along the corridors where the maids' trolleys have been bashed against the walls and much of the dark wood-work would benefit from a dab of dark varnish here and there. The jazz club remains popular in the evening, there are plenty of chaps behind the bar and they seem a good team. Tip: There is a convenient Air France shuttle service from CDG that stops right outside the hotel and without intermediate stops, is recommended. February 28, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by ideally located but old so old.... Very nice hotel, very well located but the accomodations start to be a bit old, rooms are quite small. September 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Well appointed The hotel is in a great location for the Palais des Congres, but sadly because of this the prices are hugely inflated when a congress is in town. The SPG Preferred rooms are stylish and well appointed, clean and quiet. Other than the price, the other thing that let's this hotel down is the price of the F&B for the quality of the food, particularly in the bar. Staff were, in the most, friendly and helpful, although the barman could do with some lessons in hospitality and charm. June 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Oversized Hotel but fairly efficient If you quickly move away from the crowded lobby and the queues to reception and the lifts, the rooms on the executive levelare actually very nicely decorated to the highest standards. The bathroom is well laid out and everything oozes quality. But if you are claustrophobic, beware: the rooms generally tend to be VERY small, so take that into account when you select this hotel. Great, punctual room service and something of a rarity in Paris, the staff is actually very nice and effiicient !!! February 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great choice If you can stand to walk 11 minutes to the Arc d'Triomphe, this hotel is a good value for money choice. The Rooms are not large but reasonable for Paris, and well presented. The staff are great. Breakfast is superb with many choices. There is a mall and market across the street, plenty of fine restaurants around, and a Metro station a few minutes away. I'd ask for a room away from the main street if you are a light sleeper. Overall a smart choice in Paris. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by quality and service Excellent service from the time we checked in - and yes we had to wait for our room as we arrived early - but luggage stored at no cost and we were able to to explore the city right away. Had a deluxe room , not large, but rooms in Paris are generally not. Enough for us - two women - All staff were friendly and service was impeccable. Recommend the L'Orenac restaurant for food and service. Conceirage staff all very knowledge and helpful. Located very close to metro so convenient location. April 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceeded expectations Hotel facilities and decor have exceeded expectations and I had a great stay September 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disapointed It took 3 changes of room and then an upgrade to get an average room in the Hotel. For the price we could have been downtown where we could walk everywhere. The Hotel is to far out of town. We were on a Viking Cruise and we would have expected better. On our invoice they said 20 Euro per night upsale , so obviously they do this all the time. Others in our group changed 5 times and where eventually given a room with an "upsale" of 30 Euro. Go figure? July 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Comfortable hotel and location; service and noise a problem This hotel is a clean, no-nonsense facility in a great location. It is aimed at business travelers and not quite as family friendly or service oriented. We stayed there for a week and although the room was spacious (enough) and the beds were comfortable, the windows facing the street were quite thin, resulting in extremely noisy and disruptive late nights/early mornings (on the weekends it was due to a club across the street and on the weekdays it was due to the heavy traffic/incessant honking of vehicles on the busy street). Didn't make for a restful stay. The concierge was not particularly helpful, especially when they promised to call back with restaurant reservations and failed to do so (not even a message) and when they gave us erroneous information about the opening hours of a major museum. Rated 5 out of 5 by Very convenient Ten couples were booked here through our event planner before going to Monte Carlo. Six of us arrived more than 6 hours late because our flight was delayed. Our rooms were ready and check-in was fine. The hotel is convenient to the Metro and bus line and an easy walk to the Arc de Triomphe. The rooms are small but comfortable. The bathroom was modern with no bidet. Especially liked the deep bathtub with adjustable showerhead. The breakfast buffet was pricey (29 euros) but very satisfying. We had drinks in the Jazz Club two nights which was a very nice room. Entertainment is Wednesday-Sunday so we missed that but had an enjoyable time. Serving staff was very attentive. The hotel is across the street from the Palais des Congres and its huge shopping concourse. There are many good restaurants nearby. October 12, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Hotel! Great Location This hotel is well positioned in Paris to all the major attractions, good restaurants and conveniently located next to the metro. I stayed here for an extended period of time and most my needs were well taken care. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but that is pretty standard for Paris. This hotel is very busy most of times so you will have to be patient for breakfast as the lines are usually very long. Check-in & check-out can be very slow even for SPG platinum & gold members. Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful Modern Hotel The staff here was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were modern and clean. Beautiful lobby and restuarants and is located across the street from upscale indoor shopping malll with easy access to the metro. The only negative is that the area was noisy late into the night, with loud party noise that would wake me up a couple of times a night. I never could figure out exactly where it was coming from. It was the week of the French Open so maybe that had something to do with it. May 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great family stopover in Paris We were able to book and use points for a second room in the busy month of July, Every member of staff was efficient and kind. We think it is especially good for an arrival from the USA as you can take an Air France bus at the airport and the first stop in Paris is across the street from this hotel. Close to a metro, grocery store, bakery and Starbucks in an adjacent mall--perfect for kids and jet-lagged relatives. Upon our request, the manager booked us a quiet room in advance and the second, larger room was next door for the family of three. Spotlessly clean but small rooms--ours still needed painting and redecorating which I believe is ongoing. Hot coffee was quickly delivered to our room each morning for a small charge. We all were impressed with our stay and will return on our yearly trip to France. July 25, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Star qualities at a price Excellent hotel where the staff are uniformly excellent and helpful. Had my room changed from one near lift (noisy) to a very quiet room. Very good breakfast, meeting rooms were good. Only two small gripes. The cost of breakfast and drinks in the bar was simply outrageous - highway robbery. The breakfast room was incredibly busy, and I sometimes felt the waiters were trying to go too fast - making it not so relaxing for the guests. I would suggest: "more haste, less speed"! May 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Room and Good Location I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights.I got a nice executive Suite during my stay. The room was really big and spacious enough .The front desk also very helpful while I was checking in.Only the room designed was a bit out-dated and also the furniture a bit old.Overall still a good and nice hotel to stay no matter for leisure or business. The Metro station just 2 minutes walk away.Highly recommend for this hotel . August 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Does not meet the high standards of other Starwood properties As an SPG Gold member, I have stayed at dozens of properties across Europe and the world, and I was quite disappointed with Le Méridien Etoile. The room was shabby; chipped paint in many areas; the desk's mounting was coming out of the wall; mold was in the corners of the bathtub; and all this in a room I was told, as a Gold member, was an 'upgrade' from their standard room. I would be frightened to learn the condition of those rooms. All in all, a very poor experience. July 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Conveniently located and comfortable hotel in Paris centre Location of this hotel is outstanding - close to everywhere and only 40 to 45 minutes by taxi form each of the two airports even in a rush hour. Lobby is always full of people and noisy but rooms are quite; a bit small but comfortable. Wi-fi works fine. Great breakfast and great jazz. Check-in a bit confusing when it is your first time. Check-in is rather slow - and this would be the only complain that I have. Check-out is easier as one could you express checkout. November 23, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by wonderful hotel All was good except for their restaurant. We were misled as to the 20% off at the "Ma Chere and Tendre" for SPG members. It is not 20% off on the bill, but only food. The 2 course special is only at lunch. When we brought this to the attention of the hostess, she became quite snippy. As a Lifetime Platinum SPG member, it was disappointing August 25, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by SPG benefits don't exist but nice enough I stay here about 3-4 times/year, mostly as it is the least expensive of the Starwood locations now that the other Le Meridien is gone. It is well located for the meetings I have in the area and I like being in the Etoile area in general. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, but very small. Even in an Executive room you can barely walk between the bed and one of the walls where the phone is. If you are Platinum looking for an upgrade, forget it. Only 20 suites and they are always purchased, per the staff. Staff is very nice and efficient. But big negatives as Platinum: - no fitness (costs 25 EUR to go to across the street) - no club lounge (i.e. no breakfast) - no real upgrade opportunities One positive, if you want to use it, is the Le Bus - Air France bus picks up and drops off across the street for CDG transfers that are nearly as fast as a taxi (depending on which part of the airport you need to go to) and A LOT cheaper. With over 70 nights so far this year, I don't have to complain about Starwood as I am nearly always very pleased with the status benefits, but not here. But it is still a nice hotel and so I would still recommend it to people, depending on where they want to go from the hotel. September 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by too big hotel the hotel is really huge. there should be more staff at reception and more conceirge so that guests do not have to stay in long ques. being a platinum member I got a VERY small upgrade but I understand as the hotel was completely full. BUT instead of 2 separate beds I was given 1 king size, even though booking the room I requested 2 separate beds. we had to leave the luggage and go outside for a couple of hours as they couldn't give me another room immediately October 10, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Comfortable business hotel Rooms: Urban rooms are nice, recently renovated. Bed is excellent; communicating rooms can be noisy Food: Inroom dining good but menu lacks variety; Steakhouse restaurant is excellent; bar is overpriced Breakfast: inroom dining is basic but good and very punctual; buffet is quite good and varied Bed: excellent Internet: Hardly useable in the evening SPG: queue for check-in/check-out isnt't any quicker; no room upgrades despite being platinum and frequent guest April 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by small rooms, uncomfortable beds. I booked two rooms for two nights. I used Starwood points for the first night, and cash for the second. The hotel could not get our rooms together. The family was split between different floors of the hotel. One room was really nice and modern, the other was stuck back in the 1960 and the bed was really bad. Good hotel and good location, but I feel the staff did not take that extra step to accommodate us. As a traveler, and Starwood member I was disappointed. July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Merci, Le Meridian! Just returned from a 7 night stay at LeMeridian Etoile, and it was a fabulous hotel in a great location in Paris. Check-in was prompt and friendly. I was upgraded for being a Starwood Gold member to a beautiful room with some nice perks, such as water each day, cappuchino in the lounge and was also sent a lovely fruit tray. The concierge was helpful in selecting nearby restaurants. All the staff was warm and friendly and I hope to return to this lovery hotel! September 7, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel does not meet SPG standards. This was my first time in Paris and second stay at a Le Meridien property. My first was prior to arrival here at Le Meridien Barcelona where I had an amazing stay!!!! This hotel did not meet the standards I expect from a Starwood hotel property. I have been an SPG gold member since 1999 and can honestly say that this was one of the only disappointments I have had. If my travels bring me back to Paris this hotel will not be on my list of options for stay. March 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fantastic hotel with great staff! In Asia, all business hotels are equipped with bottled water and coffee/tea making facilities regardless the category of rooms. Perhaps free bottled water in the room could increase the overall satisfication rate. Nevertheless, my stay was comfortable and you really have great staff! They were friendly and engaging; asking about your needs. A job well done here! Special thanks to Yannick and Leena from Front Desk/Reception who made it all even better! August 4, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Location Hotel is conveniently located and has great transportation to/from airport. Rooms are a bit small and getting wi-fi in lobby was impossible. I was stuck in my room if i had to access the internet so it would have been great to have the internet working in the lobby. Rooms were a bit small but nicely decorated. Service was fine ...maid fogot to put an upper sheet on my bed one nite so stuck with comforter only. Found staff at front desk a bit standoffish when i was checking out took a long time and the two women handling it kept telling me it would only take a minute longer but in reality it was more like 15 minutes. However, when i checked in i had excellent customer service from a young man, Leif, who was very welcoming and efficient. Breakfast brunch was good but always had same food so some variety would have been welcome. September 27, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rooms I paid for an upgrade and then seemingly received an upgrade for being a Starwood Member. Checking into my room - I discovered a box. No view whatsoever ... just a roof and a wall. The room was tiny and the bathroom was split into a tiny room with a toilet and then the sink and only a shower (no bath tub) in the next room. It was terrible. I enquired at the desk about this room and they said my Upgrade was that it was a re-decorated room. Is that really so that you have to pay for fresh paint? Also the paint was chipped even though new and the carpet stained. The room was a disgrace I have stayed at the Meridian before and the rooms are normally (although small) much bigger than this one. I was told all rooms were the same and nothing else was available. Totally unsatisfactory and terrible value for money. I couldn't wait to check out. December 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Average/good I used my SPG suite night awards to upgrade but I got two connecting rooms, in stead of one suite. That was a bit disappointing but the room was good, nevertheless I would have liked a real suite in one room. The hotel is very busy no matter what time of the day but that is normal for a hotel that is across a conference center. If I need to be in PAris again, I would take it for it's location (close to the center) and the friendliness of the staff. December 13, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Overall good stay except for one incident Overall a good stay with friendly polite staff except for the valet parking, where after waiting for 20 minutes in the rain and a 8 hour drive with a baby i the car, the valet rudly told us he was too busy with other customers to help us and we should park our own car. obviously he was too busy with the porches and mercedes of the richer looking customers to help out a family in a regular car. shocking and rude start to our stay. the rest was fine.
