Rated 3 out of 5 by Las Ramblas The hotel location was great. Right on the main street through the city. I was disappointed in the front desk staff. They completely messed up our bill. One example of this is when we pointed out that they charged me for two nights of parking instead of one they made me forward my car reservation to them rather than taking my word for it. As a platinum member I did not even get on the SPG floor. We stayed at three other Westin properties in Spain and they gave us breakfast for all three of us. The Le Meridien only gave us two and charged us 18.75 euros per morning for the third person and required us to buy it all four mornings to get it at that price. The Concierge told us that the trip to Monserrat would take 30 minutes when in fact it took two and half hours. When we got to the Holly Family church which is the largest tourist attraction in Barcelona the line was wrapped around the building yet the line for the tickets bought in advance on the internet was no wait. I would think the concierge might have mentioned that to us when we had a detailed conversation with us about the best way to get there. We stayed at Westin properties in Madrid, Rascafria and San Sebastian and the staff were wonderful to us and made us feel very welcome. I did not get that feeling in Barcelona. October 14, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mother/daughter trip from NJ My friends and their daughters met myself and my daughter, who was studying in Spain, to spend a one week vacation in Barcelona. The hotel is in the best location for shopping, bars, restaurants, etc. We had heard about potential noise from being so close to all the activity, but it wasn't an issue. The rooms were clean, and the beds very comfortable. The restaurant was a bit pricy, but it was easy enough to take cabs to eat at local restaurants (which we did a lot!) You are in walking distance to many of the main tourist sites as well. Our only issue was that we had booked what we thought were connecting rooms only to find out that its NOT the same meaning as in the U.S. We had two rooms that had an additional door to separate them from the hallway, but still had separate doors between the rooms. Not a big deal in the end, but for a family traveling with young children you want check that out. The concierge were very helpful, although we had one bad experience in a restaurant (service related, not food!) and we thought he should have directed us to a different restaurant. We were able to purchase tickets to see La Sagrada Familia through the concierge which I highly recommend doing. Overall, it was the most convenient location and I would stay there again. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Location; Highly Recommend As a platinum, we got a free buffet breakfast each morning, sitting at a table right on the Rambla, great way to start the day. We actually had drinks at the hotel bar a few times, because of the key location on the Rambla and the relaxed feeling of the bar and library area. Air conditioning was great and I loved the whole kind of artsy-but not snobby vibe of the place. The dutch hotel trainees were a plus as the language was not at all a barrier. We used our points to buy massages, and that is highly recommended, especially after walking around all day. My only very, slight criticism of this hotel is that our Platinum status was not really acknowledged - our room was a"deluxe" room, where we had airplane pilots staying next door, but no suite upgrade. The floor manager was very quick to see if he could locate us a better room, apologizing that we were travelling in the high season (which we could see from the number of tourists at check-in / check-out times). He handled the situation so graciously that it was really a non-issue for us (the location of the hotel means that you are only in your chilled, cool hotel room when you can't bear to perambulate anymore). Also, housekeeping kept us chocked full of free waters (very nice touch) and toiletries. September 11, 2012
