Rated 4 out of 5 by Poor Customer serrvice I was absolutely disappointed with the hotel. This is the second time I stayed in this hotel and my first experience was not too bad and that was why I decided to return. This time I booked a junior suite but the service I had was worse than my first stay when I was booked with a standard room. The wifi reception in the room was so poor that neither my iPhone nor iPad could connect to the wifi anywhere in the room. Even with the rare occasion I got connected, it dropped off virtually right the way. At times I could find the network but when I tried to connect, I only got the message of unable to connect to the wifi. I called the help desk and was only told that it was nothing wrong with the hotel wifi and must be something to do with my phone and the iPad. Other than that there is not even any offer of assistance to get me solve the connection. In Shanghai there are plenty of Starwoods hotel and I would not be short of any choices so I think this is the last time I will stay with you. September 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by We felt very welcome During our China trip, my family and I spent five nights at Le Royal Meridien Shanghai - a very good experience most of all due to the very friendly and caring team at the Royal Club that took care of our every need and was making this a special stay for my wife, my 4yr old boy and me. Please get local law enforcement to get rid of the guys just outside hotel main door to solicit for any non-legit stuff... March 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this hotel Le Royal Meridien is my favorite hotel in Asia, the service, the staff, the facilites, the location and the BEDS. the beds are a dream- as a frequent business traveller its important to feel at home and comfortable Le Royal Meridien makes me not want to leave, and that is quite a achievement. Rated 2 out of 5 by Great location but dated Great location and staff is very attentive. I have stayed here in the past and it seems that the hotel is not as good anymore perhaps due to age. Room was always had a musty/moldy smell and air condition cannot stay cold. Friend of mine in another room also complained of smell in their room. July 25, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good, but not quite excellent. Location is very good (5 minute walk from People´s Square, on Nanjing Road). I wouldn´t necessarily recommend the hotel not because it is bad or because I didn´t like it (except maybe for the mess in the elevators), but I know that for the price payed, there are other options available. Rated 4 out of 5 by my best home in shanghai from 3 years i am only stay in le meridian shanghai for at least 1 month every year because 1st : stylish and comfort 2nd : stuff have an experience 3rd : excellent location 4th : i love it too much but in last stay i did not like the service its not usually. in next time i will be focus July 22, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great in all aspects Excellent location just off the Nanjing Rd mall. Hotel was clean and well presented. The quality of food was fresh and authentic catering for all tastes. Staff always eager to help and very efficient. Rooms were modern, clean and bright. (I am quite critical of room standards). May 5, 2013

Hotel has very good location in the center of the city, staff is very friendly and helpful, facilities are good. Meeting rooms and catering for conference breaks were satisfactory. However the service level at reception is well below standard, English is average and the understanding of your own reward program is totally unacceptable. that said general staff, restaurants , bars, housekeeping etc no issue. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location Probably not the best hotel in Shanghai, but still very comfortable in a fantastic location: walkable to People's Square, The Bund and even tourist attractions like Yuyuan gardens. Rooms are spacious; very good gym and pool (that no one uses) and a great breakfast buffet. December 22, 2012

But during my four-day stay for vacation, the staff, food, facilities, and amenities at Le Meridien Shanghai demonstrated what being SPG Platinum should be. Thanks for an amazing stay! Rated 5 out of 5 by November 2012 business trip I always try to stay at Le Royal Meridien Shanghai and love the location and the way staff look after the guests. What a way to start the day, looking over Shanghai from the Club lounge :o). Special mention goes to Edward and the nice young chef that visit! February 15, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bleh My non-smoking room was recently smoked in. Insufficient staff (no staff in pool / spa area at all). English sub-par. Had to re-magnetize my keys 3 times. Lots of problems with cosmetic upkeep (not painted, floor panels are wobbly, etc etc etc) V - December 4, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel is nice but.. A lot of the staff still struggles with understanding basic English. I'm lucky that I can manage Mandarin so I can get by. My other colleagues are not so lucky. Also be careful of the service staff at the Italian restaurant on the 8th floor. Especially the Caucasian gentleman. He's not very friendly and seems to be extremely irritated that he had serve us. On one night, we had a group of 10 and we asked for some bread with we looked at the menu to decide on what we wanted. He was quite clear that we'd only be served bread only AFTER we had ordered. The next day, a bigger group of 20 had lunch at the same restaurant. We were unfortunate enough that he was also on duty and again clearly irritated that we had brought so many guests to his restaurant. I think we had made a reservation for 15 but more showed up. Isn't that good for business? We didn't kick up a fuss and we were quite happy to give the team some time to set up for the bigger number that showed up. I guess he didn't think that we should have bothered him with more diners. June 20, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Located in the heart of Shanghai, great views Overlooking the Nanjing pedestrian street, with views of the city and the bund, this hotel is located in the center of it all. The view from the club lounge or higher floors is amazing, and there is also easy access to get around by taxi or subway. March 3, 2012

It will be perfect if the hotel has more spaces in the lobby for rest or short meeting. Overall, I recommend this hotel. March 23, 2013
