Rated 4 out of 5 by Pool Swimming Cap Love this hotel, it's location and rooms with fantastic view. One issue I had is the swimming pool rules, the pool staff basically insisted for me to wear the swimming cap, when I complied with the request they asked me a fee of 60 RMB, this is ridiculous, paying for $ 200 and above room and almost forced into this additional fee shows a lack of understanding what it takes to make the guest welcomed and content ! Rated 2 out of 5 by Service levels gone downhill I've stayed at this hotel a number of times ( 15+) over the years and the service standards have dropped significantly in the last year. The few issues i've encountered or noticed during my last few visits. 1) in room toiletries - frankly are rubbish, some china made product that leaves your skin feeling awful ( for a 5* hotel at least supply L'occitaine or similar like your competition) 2) corridor noise is very bad if you have a room near a service door - i was woken 3 times one night from door slamming 3) no chance of room upgrade no matter what SPG level you are ( not once in 15 stays have i had one!) 4) Given its a 5* hotel in China you'd expect to be able to have chinese food on the day time menu - but its only available before 2pm or after 6 even though it is availbale at 2am..... just ridiculous. 5) check out process abominable - i waited over 10 mins at a very quiet time and repeatedly asked if someone else could come out to support the solo receptionist really don't expect this again in a 5* hotel.... my card was then charged TWICE ( though refunded it will still take weeks to go back on my card).... 6) food and beverages are extortionate ( gone up around 40% in 2 years) so best option is to go to Costa or Jamaica Blue for breakfast/lunch On the + side the airport car service is excellent if not pricey at 800 RMB each way. I won't be staying here much longer if service hasn't improved on the next stay! June 30, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Areas for improvement I have just stayed in your shanghai hotel 6/25-28 and I believe this is at least my 7-8 times stayining in the same hotel in the past year, your hotel is always my company's choice for biz trip to shanghai. My company's travel agent has mentioned my flight number and arrival time in my booking, however, when I arrived and checked in on 6/25 night : 1) there is no more king size bed room 2) my original room has released to other customer who checked in earlier 3) assign a corner room to me at low floor, while my 2 colleagues got 61/F and 55/F respectively when they checked in earlier. I felt uncomfortable when I get in the corner room and I asked to change room, your staffs assigned another room to me which in even lower floor and I have to face the roof of aircon machine. I wonder how your staffs treat a frequent visitor and SPG club member like is. Really disappointed and I would suggest the company change another hotel in shanghai. June 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Horrible beds The overall location of the hotel is ok but it is very noisy. During most of my stayings, I can never get a king size bed unless I play firm with the front desk. During my last stay, I got 2 beds and both of them are concaved. I felt that I was sleeping in a hammock without the comfort. The toss and turning lasted all night. I was not restest and unable to carry on my meetings the next day. With the price that I am paying, I am not getting the best value. June 27, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel is nice but.. A lot of the staff still struggles with understanding basic English. I'm lucky that I can manage Mandarin so I can get by. My other colleagues are not so lucky. Also be careful of the service staff at the Italian restaurant on the 8th floor. Especially the Caucasian gentleman. He's not very friendly and seems to be extremely irritated that he had serve us. On one night, we had a group of 10 and we asked for some bread with we looked at the menu to decide on what we wanted. He was quite clear that we'd only be served bread only AFTER we had ordered. The next day, a bigger group of 20 had lunch at the same restaurant. We were unfortunate enough that he was also on duty and again clearly irritated that we had brought so many guests to his restaurant. I think we had made a reservation for 15 but more showed up. Isn't that good for business? We didn't kick up a fuss and we were quite happy to give the team some time to set up for the bigger number that showed up. I guess he didn't think that we should have bothered him with more diners. June 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Breakfast spread needs impprovement I'm someone who really needs a good meal to kick start the day - esp when I'm travelling for business.. There was a wide spread at their breakfast buffet but there's certainly room for major improvement in terms of the quality of food and selection of food. The only saving grace was their pastries - the choc croissant was delectable. But I skipped breakfast for the rest of my 4 days stay. June 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Another Good stay, could be better though It is always very nice to see the familiar faces at the Royal Club lounge at the 44th floor. And the reception girls remember my name. Great! Upgraded as normal and room is comfy and the gym is standard and nothing to be concerned about. Two minor points to make: There is a considerable gap on the shower door when it is shut in the suite I stayed. And I didn't use the rainforest shower and the water was leaking everywhere through the gap. I had breakfast for a change this time at the Lobby level because it has a vast selection. (The service at the club level is always wonderful.) But it definately lacks home-made Dimsums, there were only two mass supplier produced choices on that morning and both were in short supply. I thought Shanghai Chinese are proud of there Xiaolongbao and some other Dimsums. It won't be a bad idea for your guests to enjoy your chef hand-made fresh ones. Otherwise, as always, amazing selection! June 16, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best View and Perfect Service Booked a same day reservation at 10AM for a 12PM early check in, still get quickly recognized and upgraded ahead. Two-bed room is a little bit tight for two single beds, but the view is just awesome! Lounge is nice with a nice selection of wines, enough elevators for different levels, everything is perfect here. When I checkout I got an apology for a less-than-two-minute queue in the front desk. They do care about this. What a great service! June 3, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Has to be the best in Shanghai Everything at this hotel was great. Friendly staff suburb facilities. I reserved a junior suite and was upgraded to a deluxe suite. It had unparalleled views with floor to ceiling windows. The club level staff were all terrific. The gym was well equipped and the pool was excellent. This is a great place to stay in Shanghai. Hotel has very good location in the center of the city, staff is very friendly and helpful, facilities are good. Meeting rooms and catering for conference breaks were satisfactory.
