Rated 4 out of 5 by Milad Perfect location, but not convenient for cars
I am a regular guest for almost two years in this hotel. The location is perfect, the hotel gym/swimming pool are good. The royal club lounge is great with attentive staff. The meeting rooms in the club lounge is very nice with a stunning view over Shanghai.
The only problem is their parking lot. You don't have access from the hotel lobby or the ground floor. You have to go out of the hotel, in the shopping mall next door then take the elevator to go to B2/B3. The problem is that when you want to leave early morning the shopping mall is closed so you have to go to B2/B3 from the 8th floor. But you have to get your parking ticket stamped at the concierge a the ground floor. So you have the following situation: get elevator no.1 from your room to lobby floor, change to elevator no.2 to go to GF to get the stamp, take again the elevator no.3 to go to 8th floor, pass the Chinese restaurant to finally get to the elevator no.4 then you get to B2/B3. So if you are not good at "elevatoring" you can get lost very easily. Recently part of this elevator trip was solved by having a parking stamp at the lobby floor. But there is no parking stamp in the Executive lounge yet. I have asked several times the staff at the lounge and they said that it is complicated to have a parking stamp there because of the financial department (?!). If this problem can be solved, then this hotel would be PERFECT!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kemist Luxury hotel in a busy city
I've stayed at le royal meridien in Shanghai on and off over the past 8-9 years and never have been dissappointed.
The hotel is beautifully designed, very modern and elegant. It's centrally located in Shanghai which doesn't mean that much as Shanghai is quite large so getting places can take a bit of time. It's very close to the Bund (maybe 15 mins by car) and extremely close to subway (never use it though).
Hotel rooms are really high end and modern. It's definitely a luxury hotel.
We usually travel for business and we stay here if we are passing through as it's 7 mins by taxi to the Shanghai Railway station; we usually take trains to factories all over.
The breakfast at the main restaurant downstairs sports a great variety and excellent quality food. The staff is amazingly attentive and polite/professional.
We usually just have dinner/snacks in the executive lounge and have breakfast up there or downstairs at the main restaurant. On this stay we were upgraded to a Bund view room as I'm Platinum SPG.
The gym is decently sized but not huge but very adequate. Their spa is quite nice, I didn't get a massage on this trip but have in the past and have had good therapists. Didn't use the pool this time but it's a pretty long lap pool with about 5-6 lanes.
Overall it's a great hotel and if you catch it at the right time the price is fair, otherwise it does get pricey at times!

Rated 3 out of 5 by BillHK Not Business like at all
Location wise Le Royal Meridien is very good and I have stayed here many times. However, It's the first time I need to use the business Center and it's an experience that is way below par. Service I needed to perform were basic: print and scan. They are have a network multifunction duplex printer but unfortunately, even it had been there for months, the printer was not connected so there is no duplex colour printing. When using the HP colour printer, the color was way off and the staff, apparently was awared of the toner problem, only changed it at my request. When it come to scanning, they have to use a low quality flatbed with sheet-feeding function. I asked for colour scan but the poor girls didn't even know how to scan color and I had to do it myself. What could have been completed in 5-10 mins took over 30. They even charge for these appalling services. Guess the hotel really need to improve the level of service or just closed the business centre and focus itself as a tourist hotel. Even their in Koh Samui has a better business centre and this is Shanghai.
Also, breakfast at the Cafe on Lobby gives one a Sunday Market experience daily: noisy, food not warm/not replenished, and horrific service
