Rated 2 out of 5 by MM2016 A let down by Starwood!
I chose the hotel with high expectations, only to be disappointed with several key aspects. The first night I was in need of a coffee and was looking for the standard Coffee Machine that any decent 4 Star hotel provides these days. I could not find one. I then decided to have an instant coffee instead, but there was none. NOT a single sachet of instant coffee in my Suit.( Club Floor). At that time of the night, I did not want to order Room Service and wake my friend up so I opted to do without the coffee. The bathroom did not have Body Lotion either. The following morning I met a Housekeeping staff and mentioned that there is no coffee and body lotion in the room. She gave me a Tube of lotion which was fine, and I went to the Club Lounge to have a coffee. As we were rushing for a Tour, I mentioned to the Club Lounge staff that there is no coffee in the room and since the breakfast offer in the lounge was rather meager ( compared to the other STARWOOD hotels that I have experienced) we went to the Breakfast room. The reception was very lukewarm and later I realized that most of the customers were Tour groups which probably gives the staff the attitude of “Caring Less.” The room was more like an event hall, low ceiling, no natural light, and without any character. The breakfast spread again was rather mediocre, and I could not find any Thai dishes. Having traveled to Thailand and especially to Chiang Mai not seeing a single Thai dish on the buffet selection was an unpleasant surprise. I had some muesli and when I finished a waitress came, took my dirty plate away and replaced the used ( dirty) spoon back on my table! I could expect this from a low-quality hotel but not from a Le Meridian. I then called a lady in a black suit who claimed she was the manager and asked about the Thai cuisine. She promptly responded that the buffet does, in fact, offer a Thai dish which was Boiled Rice!!! I honestly could not believe this as Boiled Rice is not a signature Thai Dish. Boiled rice could be Chinese, Vietnamese or Singaporean but not necessarily Thai.
So that was our breakfast, and I mentioned this to the Restaurant Manager. She had sent a box of chocolates with a note to my room, that day, which I thought was a nice touch and appreciated the token.
That evening I went to the Lounge only to find a tiny selection of snacks. There was a Bowl which looked like a Soup, and I asked the Cook who was nearby what it was, and he said it was the sauce for the Chiang Mai sausage. The sausage incidentally was actually minuscule pieces in a rather small dish. I could see everywhere the cost conscious attitude. I asked the cook why it is so small and in a rather arrogant ( Schooling manner) he told me that is how the Chiang Mai sausage is…. By the way, he had not shaven for at least a couple of days and looked unkempt.
I did not find the coffee machine in my room, neither Instant Coffee. So I asked the Club Lounge staff what the problem was. A while later, a staff member came to explain that as per the hotel policy there will be no coffee machine placed in my suite. However, I could use some vouchers placed in the room for TWO coffees per day! I have two problems with this. First of all, I had to wait until the evening of the second day to understand this policy as no one bothered to explain this to me, in spite of my bringing up the coffee issue in the morning. Secondly, again highlighting the Cost-conscious focus of the hotel, even if a machine cannot be provided why not Instant Coffee. This to me disbelief is the worst cost cutting exercise I have ever experienced in any hotel, not necessarily a 5 Star hotel. To bring this matter to conclusion UNTIL I CHECKED out two days later, I never got a single sachet of instant coffee placed in the room. I have taken pictures as proof! In spite of two senior staff coming to speak to me and assuring their attention, there was no solution given for me to have a coffee late at night unless I call the room service! The Assitant to Front Office Manager spoke to me, and she was very kind, and yet again, a box of Macaroons was sent with apologies. ( No coffee, though!)
The night before we left we wanted to go to a nice Thai restaurant and asked for advice. The staff at the Lounge was very kind and recommend us a restaurant and got the concierge to get us a taxi and made the arrangements. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the restaurant, the venue was full, there was no booking, and we had no tables. We had to wait for a while to get a table and missed a Massage appointment that we had made elsewhere. We left the next afternoon, rather disappointed.
All this while, there was never any contact from the senior management to at least show some empathy in spite of several staff speaking to us and giving us all sorts of reasons for the mishaps. I would not take the time to write such a long post and spend my valuable time to post it if only someone had reached out to me to show a little bit of empathy. This shows a total lack of customer care and appreciation.
Certainly not a hotel to return.

Great location. Chris who worked at the pool was wonderful and remembered my name from one day to the next. Great customer service. Dinner in Latest Recipe was very tasty - I really liked the special Thai menu.

I have stayed numerous times at this property and this stay was one of my best stays.
It started with a very warm welcome as soon as I stepped out the airport car. I was escorted to the lounge for the check-in, was offered my favorite drink and had the surprise to be upgraded again to one of their large suites. Amenities (which included excellent chocolate macaroons) were waiting on the dining table.
It was just perfect. I am glad that I have been loyal to this hotel since it opened and I am always very happy to see again the staff and management during every visit to Chiang Mai.
I know that "Welcome Back Home" is now a common sentence when you go back a a property, but it really rings true at Le Meridien Chiang Mai.

I would like to say thank you to SPG Coordinator (I think this is the new team) and Le Meridien Club Shift Leader including her team for nice arrangement during I was stayed at the hotel. Many staffs try to remember my name and never to ask me about room number when I was accessed to club lounge and other facilities. Feeling like home with warm welcome.
Recommended at club lounge:
- A la carte breakfast menu 1) Egg benedict plus spinach 2)Tasmania Salmon 3) French toast
- Afternoon tea 1) Passion fruit cake 2) Eclair (rotated everyday 3 sets/day)

Pick up service from the airport to the hotel is perfect for me as this was my first time to Chiang Mai. Very responsable and considerate driving, I liked it.
They upgraded my room to a nice suite, and what impressed me most is that the front desk girl apologized to me for there is a connection door in the room. Actually it's not a big deal cuz the door was away from the bedroom, but I still felt impressed for they had noticed my stay preference before.
The location of the hotel couldn't be better cuz with 3 mins walk you could find the biggest night bazaar and everything is there, food, drink, etc.
Wonderful experience with the private car service. I would like to give my special thanks to Mr. Wichien(His English name is Tom, but I feel it's better to mention his Thai name). He was my tour guide, and his driving was excellent. His recommendation of the local attractions were all worthy visiting.
Responsable staffs who fixed everything quickly. I had an unexpected little accident with my ceiling on my departure day. There were problems with the pipes, which caused the water leaking from above. It wasn't serious, however they came to fix it right after I called. I was even offered another room to stay for the rest of the day, which I found really considerate. I didn't take it for there was only a few hours left before my departure. Due to the little accident, the front dest manager assistant even sent me a little surprise from the Lattitue Bar, some wonderful snacks and a small gift box of Chocolate.
Every little thing from the hotel and the staffs impressed me little by little. I would definitely come back again with my family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rinz Quality sleep, nice coffee but need some improvement
Sleep quality, bed and pillow is superb. Cleanliness is good, maid staff is nice and greet us everytime we passed by.
Front is good, however there're something to be improved, including:
- bathroom (the hot-cold water didn't work well enough, the shower door section is not good and stuck a lot)
- bed room noise (I heard the outside noise all the time my next door closed their door or anyone walk passed out door)
- checking / room preparation during the long weekend or high season is so annoying (though the front desk is really nice) and the room isn't ready even after 3 pm
