This was a shocking experience. I am a Starwoods reward member for 13 years and have stayed in SPG hotels all over the world.
We arrived mid morning and were able to check in earlier, great. We checking into the room and the small sliding glass door had cigarette butts thrown all around the small opening crack. I brought this to the attention of the house cleaner who said she would clean it up, but seriously, how is that not taken care of immediately.
When we returned to the room mid afternoon, our heads were rattling form the jack hammer construction a floor or 2 above. I called immediately front desk and was told I would have room changed. I asked to have the duty manager come up to the room to experience this terrible noise. The manager that came up to the room was also shown the filth all over the hallway carpeting from construction on a room 3 doors down. She said it was not her responsibility but would make sure this was brought to the attention of the proper manager. When I asked how a guest could make a reservation and be checked in and not told about possible renovation problems, she said she was sorry.
We were moved up to the 18th floor, which was away from the noise and a newly renovated room, which we appreciated. But this is no way to communicate with guests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NDuzzi Great Staff and New Room
My fiancee and I stayed here recently and we couldn't be happier. As a Platinum member, they upgraded us to a brand new suite with a bay view balcony. They're in the process of revamping all the rooms and you will not be disappointed.
We checked out for 2 days and went up to Napa, prior to leaving we asked for the same room upon returning and they had no problem giving it to us. Finally, our flight got canceled (we live in Boston) and they extended us, again without having to move rooms.
The lobby and front desk staff we're great, always greeted with a smile and they remembered who we were.
While it is in the financial district, we walked pretty much everywhere we wanted to go; COIT Tower, Fishermans Wharf, Union Sq, China Town, North Beach...ect, ect. Granted, some of these places are over a mile away so be prepared but it is a great place to stay if you're willing to take a trek (given all the great food in SF, we needed it!).
Look forward to coming back to see these folks again

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rburke34 Horrible experience for business traveler
I never complain about hotels, and honestly this hotel was a nice place, but for over $400 a night, the issues I had with the internet were too much. I was there for 2.5 days and had a number of business calls. When I first arrived, i couldn't get online, and after the staff telling me for 4 hours that it was fine, someone finally told me internet service had been down for the entire hotel for a few hours with no timetable for return. They told me to go to Starbucks, which I did, and when I came back to check, someone else told me internet had been fine the whole time. When I couldn't log in again, a different person told me they were still having an issue, but would send someone to my room. That person never came, and I was never able to get on. Late night I came back one night and asked about internet, and again, the new staff had no clue and said it must be my computer, even though now multiple other staff members confirmed there were issues. Either way, I just wanted an answer, and options for a solution - which never happened. Horrible experience to be trying to log in for conference calls and having to go to Starbucks and never having a timetable for a solution. Honestly unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber, and for all of the travel that I do for work this was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had.

Le Méridien San Francisco, while situated in the midst of San Francisco's business district, is a bit of an oasis. It provides the guest with a more relaxing atmosphere than what you might expect.
Le Méridien San Francisco is located within easy walking distance of Union Square, Market Street, Chinatown and the business district.
We were upgraded to a suite, which was very spacious and provided us with a beautiful view of the city. The check in process was flawless as was the parking. The workout facilities met my requirements.
All in all, I would have no reservation about revisiting Le Méridien San Francisco during another visit to San Francisco.

Only 2 staff among a few that I spoke to was at a 5 Star luxury hotel level. The guy who checked me in and the concierge was at the said level.
Others especially the other reception staff was not friendly at all.
Toiletries given are at a 3 star hotel level.
Room cleaniness was questionable.
I will not go back to this hotel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nannie It was PERFECT!
I'm a speaker/entertainer, and I'm on the road at least 100 days per year. Trust me on this...I know a great hotel when I see one...and the LeMeridien San Francisco is at the top of my "Favorites List."
I'll stay with you guys any day of the week! FABULOUS service, gorgeous room, amazing bathroom (thank you for actually having adequate vanity space! and great lighting...I saw every wrinkle on my face!), view from the 21st floor was breathtaking, delicious room service. Your bellman George was so helpful to me...I could not have met my business obligations in San Francisco without his help. He went WAY above and beyond! He should train service personnel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rob1977 Hotel can not work at full capacity!!
My family and I were originally booked in a business suite. When I called down to order a cot for my son the staff moved us to a studio in order to fit a cot. We left for most of the day touring the city at which time the staff was going to move our luggage to the new room. When we returned our luggage was lost and no cot in room. It took approximately two hours to retrieve our luggage. When I called to inquire about the cot they said they were sold out and no cots were available. No problem I understand human error. I requested a blanket for my son to sleep on the couch. I was told no blankets were available. Ummm did I miss something? You are a hotel right? I don't go to Starbucks and they tell me they're out of coffee. Sadly my son had to cover up with towels which is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. At check out I brought the issue up and was compensated with 2,000 starpoints and an order of chicken fingers was comped. REALLY, that's hardly a way to treat your most loyal customers. I will never return to this property and am out raged with such poor treatment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by PeggyS Didn't get the room that I reserved
I reserved a room with 2 beds, but was told that none were available when I checked in. I was offered a rollaway bed, which turned out to be uncomfortable. I specifically reserved the room at this hotel because there were 2 beds. The room I was given, which was called a "suite", had a beautiful view which we appreciated, but it didn't make up for the uncomfortable bed. We were repeatedly assured that the rollaway was very comfortable, but it just wasn't. The staff seemed unsympathetic about our situation, with the exception of the gentleman that checked us out.
Also, we were told the rollaway bed would be delivered to our room, but when we returned to the hotel after midnight, we discovered it still had not been delivered.
One more thing, there was a dirty towel folded and hanging on the shower, that I discovered was dirty after I used it! So gross, with 2 red blood stains. I assume that if it were washed properly, their might still be stains, but not blood red.
This is a very nice hotel, and I have stayed here before on my own, but I would hesitate to return with a friend expecting 2 beds, and I will check the towels before I blindly grab and use one!
