Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Everything is grand about this property: stunningly clean interiors, great lobby, superb location, wonderful staff friendliness, modern sleek building, free WiFi in guest rooms, 2 great restaurants, Red Line Central station just 3 blocks away, MIT is adjacent, Star Market (a Shaw's) is in same building, very safe area, Green St Garage 2 blocks away for cheaper but clean safe parking, Le Meridien-level rooms, snazzy lobby, rooftop garden is often forgotten but amazingly great, everything is just perfect. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Hotel My husband and I stayed here for a little weekend getaway and were pleasantly surprised. The property is beautiful and just a short ride over to Boston. We were worried it may not be easy to get a cab over, but were happy to find cabbies lined up waiting for us! There was also a lot to do within walking distance in Cambridge as well. Overall, I'd stay here again and recommend it to others! August 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect stay The welcome staff was so welcoming and the room is appointed very nicely. The only thing I wish was a better were the bathrooms. They were a little dated. Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs to get back on track I had spoken with the manager in person regarding my room request for my next trip. The request was not honored. In fact, the woman at check in was uncooperative; did not recognize me as a returning guest (over many years). The room was very poor and when I discussed this with the same manager upon check out he did not offer any compensation or apology. October 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stay I recently stayed 8 nights at this hotel and would highly reccommend it; the first 4 nights were for business and the last 4 to explore the city with my family. After asking whether the hotel had a club level for a quick breakfast prior to going to work, the front desk replied "no" but then subsequently provided me with breakfast buffet coupons for each morning of my stay, slipped underneath the door of my room. Very generous! When my parents checked in, the front desk placed their room near mine on the SPG floor. The staff, in particular at the Sidney lounge, was polite and courteous. Ahmed, the line cook, even made me pancakes for breakfast (which was off the buffet menu). Great stay overall! August 21, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Paper thin adjacent room door We stayed here last weekend and had a room with a connecting door to the adjacent room and we could hear everything in the other room. They weren't being loud in the other room, but you could hear everything perfectly. It was too late in the night to change rooms. If it wasn't for the ridiculously loud air conditioner we would've never fallen back asleep. We mentioned our complaints when checking out the next morning at the front desk and they said "oh sorry to hear that", and thats all. Also our room was missing an ironing board. We were going to a wedding and needed one. Called and made the request and the front desk said one would be right up. We never saw the ironing board. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location, No SPG recognition I checked in late for a 1-night stay. I asked about special amenities for Platinum members and the guy checking me in said they had none at this hotel. He then mentioned "by they upgraded you to a suite", but when I got to the room I found it was not - very weird. The room was nicely designed, but pretty dated. Location is great, though. When I asked in the morning again about Platinum amenities the woman at the front desk said she'd be happy to deduct $10 from my breakfast charge. I later found out she "redeemed" my standard welcome points award for that. February 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nothing extraordinary This hotel was average. Our room looked nice, but the lampshades were ripped. The bed only had a heavy down comforter for a stay in late July/early August. No sheets, no light blanket. It was too heavy to sleep comfortably unless you turned up the air conditioning really high. There was coffee in the lobby, but only for a few hours in the morning. The staff was very friendly. The doormen were really nice and the clerks loaned us an umbrellas when it rained. August 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice modern business hotel Located right near MIT, the Le Meridian is a modern business hotel with good views of cambridge from the upper floors. Service is a bit cold, but efficient. This is a hotel that caters to business visitors. Room decor is very modern. Dining tip: The poorly named "Thailand Cafe" around the corner actually makes delicious Sichuan cuisine. Takeout mapo tofu is delicious. Also Flour Bakery is a short walk away and great for breakfast. November 11, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by A few notes Very nice hotel! Comfortable room. Excellent staff! But I probably will not return on account of your cancellation rules. I always stay at hotels with a same day room cancellation policy, especially when I'm on the road and unpredictable weather conditions make it necessary to keep my plans more fluid. My stay this time was a bit of a fluke, in this regard. But a well run hotel. Kudos! P.S. You might wish to include breakfast coupons and/or free parking for SPG members who are at a high level. Rated 1 out of 5 by th toilet challenge Our toilet overflowed. We literally could not use the room in the morning. When I told the man at the desk he called it a "toilet challenge." He said that we DID spend the night there. He said the manager would get in touch with me via e-mail which she never did. Rather than refunding my money for a terrible stay, I learned a new term: toilet challenge. June 24, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Way below expectation and cost Had a short stay. Poor sleep at night due to vey old, clunky, noisy AC system which cycled every few minutes loudly. Eventually had to sleep without it. Stingy with toiletry stocking. everything old in the room. Needs general renovation, esp at this heavy cost. Breakfast buffet was just average, with limited choices of breads, cheese and cold cuts. April 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good property in a good location.... recently had a 2 nights stay on a c&p rate....the taxi ride from the airport was about $35.... we got into the hotel pretty early in the morning & were expecting to wait a few hours before we got our room....but not only did we receive an extremely early check-in (around 7am) but as a platinum member i got an upgrade to a corner suite.... the suite was very spacious but the air conditioning unit was a little noisy....also, the bathroom was near the suite entrance & not in the bedroom....this was a little inconvenient.... was offered a choice of either 500 points or free breakfast....i took the points since we had breakfast plans on both days.... there is a star market in the same building as the hotel as well as a budget car rental location which worked out extremely well for me since i had to pick up my rental car from there.... lots of restaurants & shops within walking distance.... i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.... Rated 1 out of 5 by Going downhill fast The past 8 years we have stayed at this hotel 7 times visiting our daughter in Cambridge. This visit was her graduation from Boston U with her PhD. Our experience was always very positive before this visit. The restaurant dining was terrible as the food was almost inedible--oatmeal watery, rock shrimp drowning in chili pepper, coffee weak and tasteless. Maintenance was awful--TV movies wouldn't play and telephone wouldn't work in my father-in-laws room 549 and was not fixed for the 3 days he stayed there, smoke detectors chirping in the hallway and in our room as we were packing to checkout(change the batteries), room was not cleaned the first day because someone listed our room as the "green option" when I rejected this at checkin. In short, I would not stay at this hotel agin and would encourage SPG to require better operation. Oh, and we couldn't print our boarding passes because all 3 downstair computers would not work with the printer during the 4 days we stayed there, Insult to injury. May 20, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Meh. I booked a stay at Le Meridien for a conference. I requested king bed, received confirmation of king bed, was issued two queen beds. I was informed that conference attendees get 'run of the house' - essentially that requests are not considered. Beds in the hotel have white fabric headboards, so my double-queen room doubly grossed me out when I noticed yellow, head shaped, stains on each bed. The front desk staff 'assure[s] me that the rooms are clean'. I assure this individual that yellow, head shaped sweat stains are far from my understanding of clean. The A/C was loud. It also wasn't very cold. The beds have only a foundation sheet and comforter/duvet. Which, isn't by itself such a bad thing - but when the A/C functions poorly - it isn't a very good thing. When I called the front desk to ask about this, I was informed that it's a European thing. To further my level of dissatisfaction, the water pressure in the shower was comparable to that of a collection of eyedroppers suspended over a bathtub. At least the coffee was good. June 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Feeling welcome My son and I were in the area for the first time to visit MIT and he chose Le Meridien . We were very happy with your location and the comfort that your hotel provided. We even ordered take out and the front desk could not have been more helpful with that or any other questions we had. We checked out and planned a campus visit and they offered to keep our luggage and call us a cab when we were finished. We had a wonderful stay and will be sure to stay with you again and tell anyone who is interested what a wonderful place Le Meridien is. Thank you. It was our pleasure. August 5, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location, comfortable room, buffet could use improvement This property is in a great location right in the middle of Cambridge. It is near the Red Line (T) and the #1 bus to Boston. It's also very close to MIT and fairly close to Harvard. There are a variety of restaurants in the area at all price points. I had a great experience from the staff from the moment that I checked in at the front desk. They found a platinum upgrade for me (decent sized suite), and the room was very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, and the room clean. The only downside was the buffet breakfast. The staff was very pleasant and tried hard, but there were many items that had run out on the buffet, and it took about 10 minutes for them to be replenished. The coffee was not hot despite coming straight from the small pot. The platinum amenity only includes the continental breakfast which would normally be okay, but the pastries and bagels were the quality that you'd expect in the frozen section of a budget grocery store. Once the fruit and berries were replenished (after 10 minutes), it was okay but disappointing. The staff tried very hard to make up for the lack of food quality, so I was left to conclude that the problem was the lack of poor supervision by the chef. Would I stay here again: definitely because the location is so good, and the room was very comfortable. Hopefully I just experience the buffet breakfast on a bad day. April 26, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing As a frequent Starwood guest this hotel was disappointing. Although the price was high, even for Boston, I expected a level of service to justify the expense. The valet wasn't exactly valet when your told to lock your car and bring the keys to the front desk. Additionally, right outside the lobby was not very clean. The room had a mini-bar that had the computer system and wires exposed while the tray above the mini-bar, that displayed an array of candy and nuts, was half empty and disheveled. Unfortunately upon check out they wished to charge us for 5 items removed. When we informed them of the situation they did remove the charge but tried to explain that it was motion sensitive and that you can not replace the items. There was no turn down service. there was no assistance of baggage to the room. retrieving our car was tiresome as the phone to the valet did not function and the process was inefficient. The seat in my car had been adjusted which I find unusual. Valet parking overnight was advertised as $28 while we were charged $32. When we needed a cab, there was no assistance we had to walk down the street to catch one. The bathroom and design of the room had a bit to be desired and I found it tired and in need of refurbishing. I enjoyed the Le Meridien in Boston however this one does not meet my expectations for a hotel that charged $500 a night. I wont be back. August 8, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed feelings...very disappointed Unfortunately, I really wanted to like this hotel because I'm loyal to Starwood properties, but my experience was under par. I had called the hotel 2x to reserve a crib and fridge and ensure that it would be in the room ready for my arrival. However, when I checked in around 7pm, they didn't have a room ready. I was supposed to be in a suite and they "upgraded" me to a different suite, but there was nothing special about this suite. It took the staff another 45 minutes to deliver the crib and fridge. The whole point of having them in the room in advance is so that I could put milk in the cold fridge and I could put my toddler to bed around the same time she usually goes to sleep. None of this happened, and instead my toddler cried until she threw up when I put her down since she was already out of sorts in a new environment and it was so late. We spent another 45 minutes cleaning her and the crib (and ordering more towels to clean up the mess and my toddler), and by the time we put my daughter down again, it was 10pm--well over 2 hours past her bedtime. She was exhausted. Then I ended up ordering room service and the soup of the day which they recommended was so salty that I couldn't eat it. I gave up on complaining about that since I had already called so much about the crib/fridge. While Emily at the front desk did offer me 2 breakfast coupons for the next day, it wasn't until I complained again from the room that the fridge and crib hadn't been delivered that she offered me the coupons. I spoke to a manager the next day about the situation from the night before, and Tyler who was very nice offered to take the valet parking off the two nights I was there, but ended up only taking off one night. Additionally, there are no shelves/drawers in the bathroom and only one real towel rack--while I understand style over function, this "suite" was not worth it. I was REALLY disappointed--I felt like the staff at the front desk didn't realize the importance of the crib and the fridge and we literally were left standing around waiting for a room for 20-30 minutes. They were hardly apologetic at all. I know it wasn't Emily's fault, but I would think at a hotel like the Meridien, the services would be better. That being said, the doormen and staff at the restaurant were very nice. July 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sydney restaurant I really do not want to say bad things for any SPG hotels since I have traveled global and stay SPG hotels 20 - 50 nights a year for last 12 years. I am a life time gold at this moment. On 25th of May in the morning, we went to Sydney restaurant we handed a manager the Platinum case and free breakfast coupon, some tables were opened but they were not ready so he asked us to sit the waiting area to sit. We waited more than 5 min and I stood up and went to see him, he loudly told me and my family ''SIT and WAIT''. Another few minutes later, finally we got table. Only my son ordered 2 eggs which was not included in free continental breakfast. But a waiter charged us 2 buffet fees, I asked him ''why did you charge us 2 buffet even my son ate only 2 eggs which is less than $5 and my wife had only fruits which is within free continental breakfast. He replied ''I thought you 2 guys ate buffet'', I asked him '' so basically you just through numbers and enter 2 buffet and charge us'', he immediately replied ''No, no... I thought you 2 ate buffet..'' He talked to the manager who asked us to wait in the beggining and changed the bill ( of course) and charged us only eggs fee. There were no confusion but obviously they tried to charge us more than we supposed to. Next day, the manager was different and he seems very nice but the waiter was the same, my wife and I did not touch any foods since we do not want to have another arguments with the waiter. So we ordered 2 eggs for my son and left. Seriously, the manager on 25th (pretty big guy) and the waiter makes people scared and cannot believe they are in SPG hotel. Either they fix the attitude or leave. Otherwise, I and surely other SPG members will be disappointed. May 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always a pleasant stay Have stayed here multiple times due to having a child at MIT. The staff has always been friendly and pleasant to deal with. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Being right next to Star Market is very nice. Things to be aware of: 1) Fridge in room is stuffed with items that you can't even move without being charged - it would be very nice if one could put something in the fridge of ones' own, 2) Nice workout gym but no sauna, pool, etc. 3) It is a bit of a walk to Newbury Street in Boston (not that we haven't done it multiple times), 4) Not much in the way of shops in the area of the hotel but there are some nice restaurants. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Location, Great Comfort I recently stayed at this hotel to attend a conference at the Microsoft Center in Cambridge. I arrived a day early so that my partner and I could sightsee, and we were not dissappointed. The hotel is conveniently located near a T stop, and walking around the University Park area was great fun. We were really impressed the moment we arrived at the hotel with beauty of the lobby area, the friendliness of the staff, and the ease with which we were set up in our room soon after. The room was very comfortable and stylish, and the view of metro Cambridge from our room was beautiful. I will be staying here again for next year's conference! April 29, 2013

Rooms may be tiring a little and aircon a little noisy if you have jet lag but this is a great location for Cambridge and the back Bay is only a short cab ride away November 12, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Power outlets Coffee maker, desk lamp, laptop, phone etc all need to be plugged in using the outlet under the desk. Inconvenient, especailly for the coffee maker, having to get down on hands and knees to plug and unplug it. Only two outlets there which measn constantly juggling things round. A power strip on top of the desk would make all the difference October 22, 2014

Especially enjoyed the staff, location, WONDERFUL beds and loved being by a grocery store!!Super yummy food and ice cream in the neighborhood. We did not enjoy the noise but the hotel cant do anything about building project across the street. We actually enjoyed watching the work! Also, the AC was a little loud but, again, it was "white noise" that was kind of restful. Also- We apparently were not clear on the "GREEN" plan. We went 5 days with the same towels- no service ever....ever. Trash built up, towels sour, ran out of soap. August 6, 2014
