Rated 4 out of 5 by Welltravelled99 Great location, central to everything
The hotel staff were wonderful, very pleasant and helpful. Panama City was very interesting but there is an element of danger that you perceive by the amount of police presence everywhere (which is good I guess) and the despairity between rich and poor is very evident. The old town has amazing potential as you can see from the buildings that have been restored but some buildings are severely run down and habited by squatters, the despairity is interesting but frightening if you were alone. The Ghetto one block over takes it to a new level. This is not the hotels fault but we were expecting something different from Panama City, the hotel salvaged the experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PatrickM Fantastic as usual
Another fantastic stay at Le Meridien Panama. The staff is always polite and well trained by Mr. St. James. The perfect business hotel. Outstanding location and excellent access to Balboa Ave. and local entertainment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sperry8 The place to stay in Panama
A very nice property located on a happening street in Panama. Casco Viejo is not close by - but many restaurants and bars/clubs are just down the street.
As a Platinum I was upgraded to a large suite and provided free breakfast in their restaurant. Breakfast included made to order omelettes, breads and fresh fruit although not a particularly large spread - it did the trick. The suite is quite large (although dark) and filled with somewhat uncomfortable furniture. Still, it is super large, the bed is comfy and the bathroom is enormous and has it's own jacuzzi tub. I was also provided with a bottle of wine as a welcome gift.
There is a rooftop gym and pool/deck. It was too hot to sit outside on the deck but I did make use of the gym, which was nicely equipped.
They also have a club lounge with happy hour and free drinks and a few noshes and 2 computers/printers. Nothing special but a nice little lounge with friendly staff.
Front desk staff were super friendly and spoke decent enough English. You barely need any Spanish to get by here - unless you need to deal with the bellman to get a taxi.
The hotel is pretty far from Casco Viejo so a cab is required to get there. For some reason the hotel does not want to call you a taxi, they solely want you to use their much more expensive hotel car and refused to get me a taxi on multiple occasions. One day I relented and said OK to the hotel car - but the guy couldn't or wouldn't tell me the price. He spoke no English whatsoever and with my rudimentary Spanish couldn't come to terms. So I finally had to walk down the block to get a city taxi where I could negotiate a very reasonable price to where I was headed. Very annoying and the hotel should fix this.
If I came back to Panama I'd def stay here - but hopefully by then they have learned how to call a city taxi for us (or get a price list together for their hotel cars)

Rated 5 out of 5 by PamplonaEric Excellent experince in Panama
The staff at the Le Méridien Panama were wonderful, professional, warm and extremely helpful. They helped us arrange a tour on the Panama Canal; told the appropriate taxi fare to expect, provided restaurant recommendations and ensured that our stay was a memorable one.
The breakfast was amazing and the cappuccinos were perfect.
Our room had an excellent view of the bay, and was comfortable.
We only have superlatives for Le Méridien Panama.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BobOH room location
Asked Mary for a QUIET ROOM ...unfortunately I was placed in a room #408 which was next to a room with a screaming BABY for most of the nite... so for me the QUESTION is WAS i PLACED in the room BEFORE OR AFTER THE COUPLE AND THEIR BABY were placed in the room next to my room?? I am a very lite sleeper which I explained to Mary. Once I called for the supervisor to come to the room...and naturally the baby STOPPED CRYING...for about 1/2 hour...and then started again...so my experience was NOT as weell as I expected

Rated 4 out of 5 by NewGuy Nice Hotel! Room for improvement...
The hotel is very good! Great location, wonderful view! It would be a perfect stay, if wasn't for an inconvenient situation. I unpacked my luggage and went shower to get out for dinner. For my surprise the water wasn't going down the drain. I finish showering as quick as I could for not flooding the bathroom. I then called the front desk, which attendant told me would sent maintenance to check. I wasn't offered to change room, though I was willing to stay in that room, as I had unpacked. Maintenance cam with a pump machine and fixed it! The only thing I asked was for housekeeping to clean up the mass the maintenance guy inevitably made, while I went to dinner. For my surprise, no one came and I had to eait for the day after to have my room cleaned, since I didn't want to ask again at 11pm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by supatight80 Service needs improvement.
I am not going to go into details as issues had been resolved through intervention from Starwood. As other platinum guests have mentioned, they need to improve the quality of service the hotel provides to their guests. One of them is that if a guest has concerns regarding service (e.g. missing a wake up call), it should not be brushed off, as if it's nothing. And waiting and waiting for management to get back to me regarding my concerns.
Having said that, EXCELLENT platinum recognition. Platinum Guests get upgraded to their gold/platinum suites, great lounge with free breakfast, etc. I would still recommend this hotel because of the platinum benefits.
