I love staying at this hotel when I am in Dallas. In fact, it is the only hotel I will stay in. I love the fact that this hotel has history and character. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and go out of their way to make it feel like home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TravelinKen 4th Visit – Very enjoyable – Lobby Renovation COMPLETED
I was a little leery about booking a room at this hotel for Jan 31-Feb 2 even though I have stayed here in the past because of all the comments about the construction. However, I’m happy to report that the lobby/bar construction is complete and all is back in place and looking great! The new front desk is more open and welcoming. There is still some façade construction taking place outside but it didn’t seem to be anything major. I stayed at the hotel on a Fri and Sat night and didn’t hear any construction noise from outside.
I was in a Jr Suite on the 8th floor and the room was well maintained and comfortable. The bathrooms are well designed and I like the fixtures and design of the space. It’s also large with lots of counter space. The room was very clean and furniture wasn’t worn so I have no complaints.
I like this hotel because it is in a neighborhood and not a mega property. The other SPG properties in the area are at the mall and arena which are great if you are there for those things, but if not, then you are just putting yourself in a large hotel with a lot of extra congestion around you.
I’m glad the hotel recently renovated the lobby/bar to keep it fresh and modern and if I am back in the area I’m definitely going to stay at this property again.

Stayed at The Stoneleigh Jan 27-29. I've stayed there before on several occasions. The hotel is located in midtown and is very convenient for both business and pleasure. The room I stayed in (no. 601) had a toilet positioned within 2 inches of the sink lavatory. In order to sit down I had to position my body at a 45 deg angle (and I'm not overweight). The construction noise associated with a neighboring condo included jackhammers and concrete saws. It was very loud and impossible to do any work in the room. Construction activities started at 6:45 a.m. so there was no chance of sleeping beyond that time. The hotel itself was undergoing a renovation in the lobby / bar area so check-in was at a temporary card table situated in the restaurant area. All this for $368/night? The staff was nice and helpful, but those are the only kind words I have for this experience. I would wait at least 6 months before trying this place out again. Maybe by that time all the construction activities will be completed. Oh, and don't stay in room no. 601.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robin56 This hotel went above and beyond!
My husband and I always look forward to staying at the Stoneleigh, Dallas. I was a little concerned regarding the renovation taking place in lobby and bar areas; however, due to the personal attention we received, we didn't even notice it! As usual, the hotel staff made us feel special and appreciated. We were also "guests of the week" and were upgraded to a suite! The room was comfortable and roomy. I also want to send out a special "thank you" to Faith. She went above and beyond for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TravelinKen Charming, Yet Modern - Enjoyed My Stay
I checked into this hotel on a Sunday afternoon for 1 night in August 2013 and it was my first time staying at this hotel. Upon check in I was upgraded to a Junior Suite and my experience was wonderful from arrival to departure. The hotel is very charming and when you walk into the lobby it’s well appointed and relaxing, yet also upscale with a touch of a modern feel. I didn’t find anything in the hotel that seemed worn or needing repair. This seemed to be more of a “Luxury Collection” SPG property.
The staff were very welcoming and I enjoyed my room very much. The Jr Suite was large and stylish. The air conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable.
I did need to use the business center and they have 2 computers available for use and you can also print. Access and printing is at no charge which is always a nice surprise.
The only down side is the construction taking place next to the hotel. Obviously, this cannot be controlled by the hotel. I was on the opposite side of the hotel but could hear all the beeping of the trucks and all of the noise on Monday morning. Once the construction is over, I would not hesitate at all to stay at this property again.

Kudos to Le Meridien for preserving the tradition of The Stoneleigh. It is a beautiful hotel. This was my first stop after a long flight from Hong Kong and my jet lag was virtually non existent thanks to the wonderful bed and bedding.
Though the front lobby and bar are being remodeled, there were no inconveniences. The staff is courteous, interested and professional.
This is now my first choice whenever I visit Dallas.

Have stayed here on several occasions and has been a favorite until this stay. Upon arrival, the lobby had a faint scent of sewer. Our room was fine, but only one bathrobe. Housekeeping never showed up the entire stay. Our bathroom sink did not drain. We notified the staff about all of these things and they said the right things, "sorry", etc., but for the price of this hotel, we expected better. The bar and the spa, however, were both great. And even though the location is prime, we will likely stay elsewhere next time. Just wasn't the same. Needs a lot of attention.

Upon check-in we discovered that the lobby and bar were under construction; we also learned that a high-rise residence was being built next door. Consequently, our room was very loud.
Also, for an historic hotel, our room was very generic and felt very much like a business hotel. This hotel might be good for business travelers, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone wanting to get away to a memorable, unique place.
For these reasons, we cancelled our reservation and booked a room at another SPG property.

I checked in December 31st for what I thought would be a nice evening and it turned out to be a disaster. My fiancee' and I were disturbed and kept awake until 3:30 AM by other guest being loud in the hall way. I tried to quiet them myself and then asked someone at the front desk to look in to it. He did not seem very interested in my complaint. And now, I am looking at my folio and see that I was charged for Food & Beverage, however, that is impossible as I did not have a key to the room bar nor did I order anything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by linnyjo rooms are dark and had a security issue
Although, we DID have a nice stay recently at The Stoneleigh, I have to say that both my daughter and myself found our room to be dark and in need of more lighting at night. Especially the closet. there was no light at all and it was very hard to see in there at night.
Another issue that concerned me was that fact that I could not reach anyone at the front desk or security at 4:00am when a man was talking on a cell phone right outside our door for over a half hour. Not have my husband along on this trip we were reluctant to open the door and say anything to the man. I tried calling multiple times to the front desk and got no answer. Upon check out they did credit me an in-room movie charge for the inconvenience (which was a nice gesture) but my real concern was not being able to get security when we needed it. I hate to think if it had been a matter of greater concern. Eventually, the man found his way back to his room or ended the call, but it was a little disconcerting to say the least and woke us from a very nice sleep.

It would have been nice to know that the lobby and restaurant were under construction. I still would have stayed, but felt suckered when arriving and directed to the back and a folding table for check in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CowboySean Cotton Bowl Vacation- Great Stay
We came down to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. The Stoneleigh was an excellent host. We were very impressed with the staff as well as the room. We were the guest of the day and enjoyed a room upgrade and chocolate covered strawberries upon our arrival. Our room was spacious and very clean. When we arrived the bottom floor of the hotel was under construction however the staff had relocated the check in desk to an easily found location and their were signs that instructed you where to go throughout the bottom floor. The Stoneleighs uptown location is excellent for shopping and dining. Once we parked at the hotel everywhere was pretty well within walking distance. The uptown location also made for easy access to I-30 when we drove out to the game. Overall we had a great experience at the stoneleigh and are planning on staying there again next time we return to Dallas.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BillK19428 three times you got it wrong
ordered the turkey breast sandwich at your lunch restaurant - it was made with ham. I did not have time to send it back, so I left it uneaten.
Ordered it again the next day, it came made with ham again. I had time, so I sent it back. It arrived again with ham, when I complained that it was ham I was told "no, it is turkey ham". Turkey ham is a heck of a lot different than the "Roasted Turkey" that was prominently listed on the menu. If your chef has to dump turkey ham, then have a special, don't foist it off on diners who order something and expect to get something completely different.

I've spent 60+ nights in the Stoneleigh this year and this hotel has it all: great location, great restaurant, great rooms - but the staff is what really sets it apart.
At the front desk, Tomica, Laura, Katessa and Kaneesa are efficient, friendly and anticipate needs.
The bartender, Andy, is a fellow Texan and has a creative flair from his time and experience in Austin, making some of the best drinks in town.
Elvira and Laura are superb in the restaurant, again anticipating needs, and chef Juan has put together a great menu, with my favorite being the chicken fried steak sliders.
Ken and Ginger keep an eye on everything and the standards are high - try ithe Stoneleigh once and you'll be back!

New Years Eve at The Stonleigh was not a good idea. Very loud partying going on all night long. We live 30 minutes away and debated driving home at 3:00am in hopes of getting any sleep that night. Should have went to a higher end hotel to avoid the partiers. I regret my decision to stay here...

We stayed here for a few days stopover and found the hotel to be very good. Even tho the hotel was undergoing renovations this did not overly impact our stay. The bar staff were excellent as was the staff on the temporary fron desk. I would stay again for sure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by rrs1179 Great Staff, Spa, and Clean room, but....
So to start with the good; The valet and front desk staff were exceptional. The spa was great and the rooms were spacious and clean.
The bad (in order of appearance);
There was a plate of food sitting outside the door when we arrived to our room (no big deal).
The heat/air shifted from heat, which we needed, to blowing cold air. The heater would blow and as soon as it shut off it would be followed by a stream of very cold air. (Very uncomfortable)
The stopper in the bathtub had to be replaced (no big deal, typical maintenance).
The first morning we woke up to loud voices in the hall. The went on for, at least, 30 minutes before 9am, after investigation we realized it was housekeeping (we did not have our do not disturb sign up-we made a point to remember that the next day so they would be aware we were trying to rest).
The next morning, with our do not disturb sign on our door, we were awoken by housekeeping staff knocking on our door at 8 am (unacceptable).
As we tried to go back to sleep, this was intended to be a relaxing stay, we were greeted by workers outside of our window. We could hear every word they were saying and their music.
I understand the hotel is in the process of remodeling, but guest comfort should be addressed in a better manner, specifically during holiday stay periods.
My family was in the hotel business for over 20 years. I was raised around hospitality services, and I hate writing reviews like this, but this grand hotel deserves better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Burton33 Great hotel but under renovation
My room at The Stoneleigh was great, but I was not informed when I made my reservation that the lobby was under major renovation! I was very disappointed and would have expected an upfront notification and a rate discount for this kind of renovation. For me, a great lobby is one of the perks of a nice hotel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TravelinKen Large Suite - Comfortable Room
This was my second stay at this property and I was here only 1 night (Sat). I enjoy the feel of this hotel and that is upscale/unique and the room I was in was well-maintained.
I was upgraded to a suite which had a huge bathroom and a very comfortable sleeping room area. The bed was comfortable and the suite I was in was located on the corner so there were plenty of windows. Unfortunately they were so extremely dirty that I couldn’t even see out of them.
I enjoyed my stay here except having to wait 15 or so minutes while everyone at the valet stand searched for the “misplaced” keys to my car.

Rated 3 out of 5 by christopherh Hotel is being renovated, but has a long way to go.
Hotel is going to be beautiful, but is not now due to the renovation. I used the spa and there are 2 showers; 1 of which did not work b/c of the handle not attached correctly. The room was beautiful accept that the window in the room was never sealed, so the glass was sitting in the frame ready to drop out at any time. This left a gap in the window so the cold air could come in and I could hear everything going on at the bar across the street all night long. The room was freezing due to cold air coming in from outside. I only stayed one night, but I did approach the front desk and they said they would compensate me for the problems, but that has not happened. Overall, i think the hotel could be a great hotel, but it needs work. Also -- my company does not reimburse for Valet-- so I would have liked to self park, but you do not offer that option. why? Last thing -- the Gym--- there are no head sets to plug into the oliptical trainer. That would have been nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WorldTraveler73 A Few Issues with This New Starwood Hotel
This new Starwood hotel has a very good location in Uptown Dallas, friendly staff and a lot of history. However, there are a few issues. First, the windows are not insulated well, so loud noises from the bar across the street can be heard until two in the morning (I suggest requesting an interior room). Secondly, around noon on Saturday, I tried calling the front desk three times (each time letting the phone ring at least 10-15 times) without success - later when I went down to the lobby, was told that one person was in the back on break and the other was grabbing a quick lunch (so the front desk was unattended). Finally, the Starwood points did not post correctly to my account, as my prepaid stay booked on the SPG website was entered as an Award Stay with no points awarded. I had to contact the SPG service center to get this corrected. Hopefully, this property will improve over time as it gets the hang of the Starwood system.
