Rated 4 out of 5 by Special Requests not acknowledged As I write is I am still in the Grand Bretagne as a guest but was left very disappointed last night when after booking a table in the very famous and exceptional GB Restaurant some 3 months or more ago with a request for a table with a great view of the Acropolis, we arrived to be offered an in-door table with many others in the best tables with the best views. We finally, after asking were offered a table outside but with a view not as good as many others. This was disappointing as it was a well planned special, event booked many months out and yet others who arrived earlier with limited booking time managed to get the best tables. The staff offered no recognition to our request. Over all the staff were ok. September 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel has best location. This is a great hotel I would recommend for Athens. It is centrally located. Has nice roof top bar and restaurant with a clear view of the Acropolis, parliament, national garden and Syntagma square. Ermou street, Attica mall, and mistaraky square are all walking distance. The staff is very helpful, whatever we needed we got it in minutes. And the concierge was exceptionally helpful and very efficient. September 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing hotel Headed to Greece for two amazing weeks and had a chance to stay at some of the best hotels I've ever stayed in or seen. The Grande Bretagne is gorgeous from the moment you arrive. It was beautiful, has a great restaurant with fantastic drinks and views of the Acropolis, and is filled with very helpful and courteous staff. While we only had a chance to stay here for the last night of our trip, it was a great place to end the adventure. September 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel, great value We visited this hotel as the first stop on our honeymoon. Could not be more pleased with the service and location of the hotel. Great breakfast, amenities and room layouts were very accommodating. I would stay here in Athens again. September 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Luxury and Great Food I have been a regular guest in this iconic hotel for over 40 years, and visit around 3 times a year. It is always a pleasure to arrive back at the Grande Bretagne to be welcomed as an old family member by the wonderful staff. After each visit I think that nothing can beat the previos visit, and not surprisingly, the next visit is always better. This is a traditional luxury hotel, with modern amenities that constantly evolves, either in the restaurants, bars or in little ways that only a regular would realise. It is a well run hotel by professional management and caring and attentive staff. The roof Garden Restaurant is a a dining must. I have been dining in the restaurant for about 10 years and the current chef who has been there for about 5 years continues to produce Michelin star quality food. During my visit I had some wonderful meals, but the best deserves a special mention. I had grilled asparagus with quail egg, rocket leaves, truffle flakes and béarnaise sauce , followed by Veal saltimbocca with mushroom ragu The quail egg with the asparagus was not only cooked to perfection with a nice soft centre , but was rested on a slither of crisp toast The Veal was cooked to perfection, just pink enough and accompanied by a beautiful mushroom ragu . The desert was truly Italian inspired like the rest of the menu . Mixed berries with yoghurt sorbet and mint. Just the refreshing dish needed to finish a beautifully prepared and executed meal. All in all a dinner that you would normally expect to get in a Michelin starred restaurant with views to die for, served by professional waiters who know the meaning of " service" No wonder I dine most nights in this restaurant during my stay in Athens. You can not get better! August 31, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Butler Service? My husband and I stayed at the Grande Betagne in June. There were several bell men at the curb but not one came to help us get our bags out of our car and into the hotel. The check in process was unorganized and took a very long time. I waited in line to check in at the lobby only to be told that I needed to go upstairs for a different check in spot. This should have been communicated to me prior to check in. We booked a suite with butler service but we NEVER saw a butler. The first morning we woke up at the hotel, I called down to the butler for coffee. I was told that they weren't in and room service would send it up. I was then charged 30 Euros for a pot of coffee. Ridiculous! The "butler service" is nonexistent!! Do not spend the money to book a premium room! August 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect ending to a Greecian adventure My husband and I ended our trip to Greece at the Hotel Grande Bretagne after traveling to Crete for our wedding. We couldn't have been more impressed with the staff, the setting and felt extremely comfortable to partake in all of the hotel's many amenities including sitting poolside with fresh fruit smoothies, using the gym, exploring the spa and specialty stores and having a drink at the rooftop with stunning views of the Acropolis. The hotel's history alone, open since 1800s,makes it a place to stay or even spend time at for lunch or spa even if you have other accommodations. Well worth a visit! August 14, 2015
