Rated 4 out of 5 by Rich58 great place for a conference
I stayed at the Fairfax as a participant in an annual conference and found everything quite excellent with two exceptions: the price for Internet access in the rooms is outrageous (considering that there is free access in the Starbucks down the block) and the breakfast was overpriced (though the food in the Capitol Room was both delicious and not terribly expensive). What rendered this sort of moot for me was the staff's incredible helpfulness when I had to leave the night before I was supposed to owing to a big snowstorm and a series of cancelled Amtrak trains. The staff was very understanding and didn't charge me for the final day even though it was last minute notice. That excuses a lot in my opinion...

Rated 5 out of 5 Don't miss the Fairfax Hotel Experience
I give the Fairfax my highest recommendation for comfort, great location and above all, fantastic staff. Their staff is their greatest asset and they do everything they can to make your time there as pleasant as possible. My experience there this past weekend was one of the best I've had in a hotel in DC. Do visit the Fairfax soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by JamesFeb2014 Great Location - Charming Hotel
I truly like this Hotel for its location and charm. It gets 4 stars. The restaurant is great, the Bar is fantastic, the rooms are very charming. the price is a decent value for the money. There are however, a couple of flies in the ointment. Most rooms I have stayed in this hotel (not all of them) have the noisiest AC units I have ever encountered in any Luxury Collections let alone 3 stars establishments. The other is that on certain occasions the front desk staff lacks adequate knowledge of Starwood"s privileged program.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rich2020 Elegant warmth and excellent service
Many of today's "luxury" hotels tout a large impressive lobby. The Fairfax at Embassy Row speaks for itself. The lobby, while small, is both inviting and efficiently managed. The wonderful smell of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and rich coffee each evening punctuate the friendly service that is the hallmark of the Fairfax. Set along embassy row, this hotel is itself a refuge for international travelers. Down every hall seems another surprise from their business center, workout room, and wonderful banquet and meeting facilities. If you are looking for a place to call home while in DC, look no further. Conveniently located near the DuPont Circle metro, you are practically neighbors with the White House. And for the Starbucks addicts, you'll find one only a few steps away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wigstheome Excellent Hotel and Stay
Checked in on a Wednesday night (after an excellent dinner at Izakaya Seki on V Street). The valet remembered and welcomed me from previous stays. Check in was quick and simple, and I was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite (814) -- a room I had stayed in previously. While the hotel is more of a grand dame than a modernist, I always find it very comfortable, and this suite was no exception. Turn down service had already occurred, and the bed was particularly comfortable. My vehicle was brought up quickly and the valet was waiting for me when I came down to depart. Simply another very nice stay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Donatella I was disappointed
This is a pretty little hotel but there were several things that surprised me and were disappointing. The room was immaculate but my husband wanted to watch TV and it barely worked and did not have a great choice. Also we had to call to have the TV "reset" several times to eliminate "snow" which made it barely visible. Also the room was very small. I was surprised. There was nothing to indicate that it was so small. It accommodated a king size bed but not much else. No mini bar. Just a poorly working refrigerator. Room service food very bad and very expensive. There was a huge crowd and one hotel service person at the front desk when we were trying to check out. The room was attractive however. With a 4.5 rating, I was expecting more. I don't want to stay there again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paul98102 Lovely hotel - miss by housekeeping
This is a great property. The staff was friendly and upgraded me to a nice 7th floor room. Unfortunately, the bathroom could have been cleaner and there was no bottle of water in the room. Probably just bad bad luck - I will be back.
