Rated 5 out of 5 by RMAP My D.C. Home away from home with Old World Charm
My travels take me to DC quite often and I always immediately book the Fairfax Embassy Row. The hotel is beautiful and elegant, reminiscent of an earlier era, while being totally modern. I appreciate that it is not a sterile cookie cutter hotel like many chains, with excellent doormen. Location is superb. Concierge Peter is fantastic, and worth staying here just to have access to him! Only complaint- mattresses need replacing. They are not super comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DJCH23 Superb Hotel. A few minor issues.
Superb Hotel. Excellent Staff. Beautiful facilities. Five Stars in almost every way. The one minor issue was that there were a few places where the room was clearly not "deeply cleaned" on a regular basis. The fire system sprinklers in my room (307) were covered with dust bunnies, the carpet behind the tv stand was very dusty and the overflow drain in the bathroom sink was filled with mildew. Nothing that ultimately took away from the grand nature of the hotel, but you would expect that housekeeping would do a better job overall on the little things like this. Overall, I loved this hotel and had a great stay. No issues. Just the minor "cleaning" issues in my room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kevman12345 Beautiful Hotel in a Perfect Location
This property is in an absolutely perfect location. Furnishings and artwork are carefully selected and beautifully placed. The only complaint I have is the nickel and diming… $10 to print a boarding pass? Seriously? I can print it for free at almost any other property. The front desk staff is slightly below average but the property and location make up for any shortcomings!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Firefighter Wonderful Stay
We can't say enough about our stay. The rooms and amenities were great. The location is fabulous, within walking distance of great restaurants and near the Metro. I suggest taking cabs though. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They are wonderful. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left. They are genuinely very friendly and extremely helpful. We will be staying there again soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wigstheome Location, Service, Warmth
The Fairfax continues to surprise me with the levels of comfort and service it provides. Whether the bellmen, doormen, or fornt desk, service is paramount. Expect to be welcomed and addressed, and I have never had to wait long for the valet to deliver my car. As an older hotel, each room tends to have unique characteristics, which is a nice chance from more modern designs. The beds are extremely confortable, and the HVAC system is more than capable of handling the heat and humidity of DC. Location is also a positive, with immediate access to Dupont Circle and all of its amenities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BNAJames Good rate, good location
Room was nice, usual amenities. Didn't eat there or do anything other than come and go and watch TV. I did notice that the maid service wasn't consistent--leaving toiletries, towels, etc, varied from one day to the next. Like one day I didn't get the bottled water.

The Fairfax is a gorgeous, historic property in the heart of Embassy Row/Dupont Circle.
The location is fantastic, the staff very helpful and friendly, and the room - not much short of perfect!
My room was very spacious, well appointed and very comfortable.
I had a fantastic time at the Fairfax and look forward to making a return visit soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by MLAMK55 Great location and reasonably priced
Located on Embassy road near Dupont Circle. Great area. And you cannot beat the price. Reasonable. Very clean and staff was polite and helpful. My only problem was with the mattresses - they were much too firm for me and I was unable to sleep well because of the firmness. I would still recommend the hotel, however, because not everyone is as sensitive to a mattress as I am.
