i am a business traveller and look at hotels through that lens. this hotel has quiet rooms and friendly staff (though there were always at least two or three doorman talking at the front door so hard to get in and out). the bathroom was nice and the wireless internet worked perfectly. the gym was good with a universal type machine and free weights. the room itself needs upgrading - new carpet. don't get a room near the alley -- noisy late at night and don't get a connecting room because the doors are old and not soundproofed

I dont think I need to say more.
There were droplets of BLOOD on the floor of my bathroom.
I have never been so disgusted.
Clearly he cleanliness (and SAFETY) of this hotel is in serious question. I have warned all my colleagues NOT to stay at this hotel. Ever.

Enjoyed my stay, the room was comfortable, TV good, bathroom fine, ipad and charger useful. Unbrellas in closet turned out to be fantastically useful.
Two minor criticisms. Was there a choice of papers? USA Today is not a great paper in all honesty, not that this was mentioned to me at check-in. Also wi-fi.... everyone mentions it, and rightly, really it should be free in this day and age, especially given almost every cafe in DC also provides this. Perhaps it's just a tactic to stop the hotel getting too popular.

I feel like i was purposely given a room next to the huge electric generator or some other kind of machine that continously worked all night!! (room # 218)
My other concern is temproray authorizations by this hotel. It impacts my credit limit. As of today i see two temproray authorization totaling around $2000. Even though i do not have next coming reservation!!!

While room not ready on arrival, staff went out of way to get me in quickly when I came back. Bellman always great with "welcome back" which is always nice way to begin are turn visit.

The hotel is very pleasant -- quiet and clean. The staff, with whom we didn't interact much, seemed friendly.
My complaint is the valet parking. We received what I was told would be a voucher, due to our attendance at a fundraiser held in the ballroom the night we checked in. But when we checked out, we were told the voucher wasn't good for overnight parking. Someone made the decision to *discourage* event attendees from spending the night? Blockheaded and annoying.

The Fairfax continues to surprise me with the levels of comfort and service it provides. Whether the bellmen, doormen, or fornt desk, service is paramount. Expect to be welcomed and addressed, and I have never had to wait long for the valet to deliver my car. As an older hotel, each room tends to have unique characteristics, which is a nice chance from more modern designs. The beds are extremely confortable, and the HVAC system is more than capable of handling the heat and humidity of DC. Location is also a positive, with immediate access to Dupont Circle and all of its amenities.

We got upgraded to a suite via suite night awards. The suite was very spacious, and very well kept and clean.
The location of the hotel was great: two blocks away from Dupont Circle subway station that can get you around easily; lots of great restaurants within 2-3 blocks radius. Many convenient choices such as CVS and Starbucks around too.
The front desk and concierge desk staff are very helpful. The doorman and bellman were really helpful as well.
This is a Luxury Collection hotel, so it does come with more expensive itemized costs such as parking and breakfast. So I recommend that you either book a package that covers these charges or come without a car (do the subway).
I highly recommend this hotel.
