Rated 5 out of 5 by Peter1474 Excellent comfort and features
An excellent hotel in the prime location in Venice. Helpful and considerate staff providing assistance when needed. Also the best view of the Grand Canal from the rooftop terrace.

Love the looks of the hotel, great location, Venice. Unfortunately, hotel staff is very slow and doesn't distinguish SPG customers from others (no recognition of SPG status). Check-in took more 45 minutes (includes staying in line of non-SPG customers), checkout about 30 minutes. Elevator broke often - customers had to take multiple-flight stairs. Water taxi was around 30 min and was not on first come/first serve basis. Restaurant for breakfast was fabulous, but dinner was a different story - it required reservation 2-3 days ahead (even when 3/4 empty and you are SPG platinum staying at the hotel). Very disappointing.

Our stay could not have been better. The moment we walked in to this historic hotel Platinum recognition was taken up a notch. Attention to every detail with upgrades to Doge Dandolo Royal Suite from our standard suite was unexpected and amazing. If that was not enough... an invitation by the hotel manager to a complimentary Tom Fords Scents dinner and wine tasting was a perfect finish to an already amazing day!

Grand hotel and beautiful facilities. However, found it outrageous to charge 15€/day for wifi when every single café offer it for free!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kemist Wow, Roof top restaurant
Ok before I go into the other details, can I just say OMG roof top restaurant. Make sure you have breakfast up there and have their breakfast buffet. Great quality breakfast, very attentive staff and amazing views 180+ degrees of venice coast.
Location is footsteps from the St. Marks Square, literally. Right in front of Waterbus stations as well. This is the cream of the crop of locations.
Concierges are very thorough, just need to get their attention.
We didn't have dinner there but if the dinner is like the quality of the breakfast then it's worth it.
Platinums should choose the free breakfast and not points. Great full breakfast buffet every morning before you go and explore.
Overall would stay here again but it's pricey but would do you expect when you are on the Rodeo drive of Venice!

Rated 3 out of 5 by sfcabo Best location, room not according place
The location is the best in Venice, wonderful terrace with unique views, but the room decoration, bath... is not according with the place, the expectations for SPG quality and high price

Rated 1 out of 5 by john85329 Beautiful facility but poor service
We were disappointed with the service we received while staying at the hotel. Here is a list of the specific problems:
1) We booked a water taxi through Starwood, but it was not there to meet us upon arrival. We called the hotel and they said there was no record of a reservation. They offered no help and no apology. We found our own taxi.
2) The air conditioner was not working properly in our room, so we called the front desk. We waited 45 minutes and finally called again before someone came to check the room. The technician said the problem was with the central system. (This was the first of several technician visits that were inconvenient and didn't seem necessary.)
3) The movie rental service on our television was not working. A technician came to our room and said that there was a problem with the central system which couldn't be fixed until the next day. The next morning we reminded the front desk about the problem, but it was not fixed when we returned to our room in the evening. Again, another technician came to the room to tell us that the problem was with the central system. Later, we got a call saying that the system was fixed and that we could have free movies as compensation for the problem. We watched one movie, but the next day the system was broken again. We called again and the front desk wanted to send another technician to the room. At this point we gave up on the movies.
4). We asked the concierge how to get to the island of Murano. He told us that the hotel offered a complementary shuttle to the island. When we arrived at Murano, we found out that the shuttle was provided by a glass factory, and we were required to listen to a sales pitch while being escorted through their store. I expect these scams from people on the street but not from the Danieli.
5). When ready for checkout, we tried to call for assistance with our luggage, but nobody answered the phone. After 10 minutes of waiting, we had to go down to the front desk to get someone to come to the room.
6) The room bill still had charges for movies when we checked out. We had to remind them about the problems to get the charges removed.
We understand that there can be unexpected problems, but we expect better service once the problems are identified. Seeing the movie charges on the bill was particularly insulting because we felt like the hotel didn't know or care about the problems we had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ALLORA Magnificent hotel
My friend and I arrived at the Hotel Danieli and were greeted very warmly by the reception staff and were given an upgrade to a canal room with an amazing view and very roomy balcony with a table and ample seating. I felt like pinching myself. The location of the hotel could not have been better and the charm and history of the Danieli is magical. Contrary to some reviews, the concierge was extremely polite and helpful. They directed us to some of the best restaurants we had the pleasure of enjoying on our 11 day trip to Italy. When we arrived at these restaurants and were told that the Danieli sent us, they treated us like royalty-- even those that were very crowded. One thing to note about the Danieli--the room numbers are confusing and do not abide by the American standard of rooms on 3rd floor start with a 3, rooms on 4th floor start with a 4 etc.... We had many laughs finding our way to our room and even out of the hotel (only one door in and out) since being in the newest building we had to cross over a hallway that is really an outdoor bridge to the 2nd floor of the main hotel but this is all far from apparent when doing it and signage is not abundant. It almost added to the adventure as we were enjoying roaming around this great, historic hotel that I could only hope to return to and enjoy once again.
