Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful historic hotel This hotel is, without a doubt, the only place you want to stay if you want to be within walking distance to anything in Venice. That said, if you want modern, contemporary conveniences, this is not where you'll be happy. We needed two rooms to accommodate our children, and to ensure we connected, we booked very high category, canal view rooms. Needless to say it was very expensive, and while the rooms were large, the value is not there for the amount of money you're paying. We will say that the beds are extremely comfortable and the amenities are nice, but the decor and overall condition of the rooms is extremely tired and in DIRE need of refurbishment. Furthermore, we never really felt safe as many people not staying in the hotel frequently walk through the hotel, and even up to the rooms levels. This was disconcerting to us throughout our stay. The staff had good and bad days over the course of our 3 night stay. We could see that the crowds of July were wearing thin on them and we experienced some very frustrating service from the concierge and restaurant staff. We also speak Italian and could understand the staff discussing guests, which was disappointing to say the least. This aside, if you want to stay in the heart of Venice, this truly is the best location. The lobby areas are beautiful and if you can get over the price you're paying for a room that hasn't been updated in over 20 years, then you won't be disappointed. August 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Danieli is now my hotel in Venice The Danieli more than met expectations. All staff were wonderful and so helpful. We had a balcony room with an exquisite view of the Grand Canal. The bed was comfortable, yet supportive of my back. The breakfast was outstanding. I was a bit disappointed in the luncheon menu. However, this is the only negative comment I have on a magnificent and outstandingly beautiful hotel. The marble, chandeliers, richness of history blending with modern comforts was a hotel dream come true.I will make my reservations for next year as soon as I know my travel dates. July 5, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Old and Tired Part of a 3 month round the world trip, we had stayed here one night a few years ago and this was meant to be a real highlight. And it was but there were a number of disappointing experiences which really detracted from our stay overall and I doubt in future we would spend the extra money to stay at the Danieli again The hotel is beautiful, the foyer, the bar and the terrace restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast and one glorius lunch more than met our expectations. The staff at both the restaurant and the bar are absolutely fantastic. However we did have a number of issues with the rest of our stay. It started well, we were upgraded to a better room recognising my SPG Gold status but then had issues when completing the booking. I had booked the 100 Euro Daily Credit offer but the staff insisted this credit could only be applied once across my entire 4 night stay. Finally a supervisor said they would honour as a special case but still insisted I was mistaken thinking a daily credit actually meant daily. The room was nice and big though no views. Our bags did not arrive with us, I had to go back down to the lobby an hour later to find them. The facilities of the room other than the beautiful Sheraton bed were run down. Only one of the 2 shower jets worked, a number of the lights around the bathroom vanity did not work and there was paper and rubbish under the wardrobe from an earlier stay. The window shutters wouildn't stay open so it was always dark in the room and the complementary water was missing. We actually had to ring a couple of times during our stay to get water and in the end just went down to the gym and helped ourselves when we needed a refill. On the positive side, they had someone fix the shower and bathroom vanity once we reported it and we did appreciate the nice bottle of Italian sparkling wine delivered on our first night. The other thing I didn't like was the access permitted from non guests of the hotel. I can understand them coming into the lobby to have a look as it really is beautiful but twice during our stay we had people come up to us as we were entering our room. One of the couples actually asked if they could come into our room to have a look which I found a bit offputting All in all, it is still a wonderful hotel in a glorious location but I think it is living on past glories. It is a beautiful old building but the service and facilties as a whole are probably more 4 star nowadays. Next time in Venice, I will stay somewhere else and use the money I save to come and have lunch on the terrace which is one of the best experiences in my opinion you can ever have in Venice June 29, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by A great hotel The Danieli Hotel is perfectly placed in Venice in a historical building of stunning elegance. The reception staff are efficient, painstakingly helpful and gracious. Dining on the Danieli Terrace must be one of the great experiences of the world. The Maitre D and his staff are brilliant, the food is excellent and with a stunning view of Venice dominated by San Georgio Maggiore. We felt we were sitting in a Canaletto painting. Staying in the Danieli was a joy. May 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! The Hotel Danieli is a gorgeous property. It is located in a perfect spot, right in the middle of everything. It is an elegant, breathtaking place, with wonderful service and amenities. We needed two rooms, connected, as we traveled with our children, and the staff put us in a perfect situation, where we were completely connected to our kids, even though we were in two rooms... it worked out beautifully. I am a travel agent, and I highly recommend this property!! I would go back tomorrow if I could!! May 12, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what it used to be..... The Staff is MOST unpleasant, the rooms are tired and this is quite possibly the worst "high end" experience in the last ten years. The staff is rude both at the front desk as well as at the terrace restaurant. The ONLY staff that seems to care is the concierge desk. Very disappointing and will NEVER return. The rooms are tired- running toilet all night, window won't seal correctly, chair broken....the list goes on. Bait and switch on price of room- argued for 1 hour about confirmed rate (made with Ambassador at SPG) and what they wanted to charge.....was nearly 2x the rate. May 3, 2015
