Rated 5 out of 5 by seanc724 Absolutely Amazing Hotel
This is one of my favorite hotels ever. While I have not stayed in any other hotels in San Sebastian, I cannot imagine any being any better than this. The location is awesome, the property and facilities are amazing, the staff is second-to-none and the food is without equal.
I would like to call attention to three individuals on the staff: Stiijn Oyen, the General Manager who came out to meet us on the day we checked in and who we ran into a few times in town who was always so very helpful and kind to us; Joana Frigerio, the concierge, who tirelessly and patiently helped me through all of my indecision with the perfect birthday dinner reservation; and last but certainly not least, Jauntxo Migueliz. Juantxo was the first person we met at the door of the Maria Cristina and was helped us every single day we were there, always smiling, always happy, and always with kind things to say. He was the the first person we saw when we arrived and the last person we saw when leaving and it was always the best way to leave and arrive.
This hotel alone is reason enough to visit the wonderful city of San Sebastian!

Really fantastic - rooms, location, service. We were only there for 1 night unfortunately. Can't wait to come back. Had a suite, and it was one of the most wonderful rooms I've ever stayed in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AW108 Luxurious accommodations marred by slow service
In short, Maria Cristina is a stunning property perfectly situated in San Sebastian, but marred with extraordinarily slow service at both the front desk and Dry Bar, the lounge. Checking into the hotel required over thirty minutes of our time, despite nothing unusual about our reservation, and check-out was hands-down the slowest I've ever experienced at a Starwood property. Ordering food or a drink to be enjoyed on the luxurious premises was generally a glacially-slow affair; at one point, the hurried bartender simply told us that he couldn't take our order, as he was too busy. On the positive side of the ledger, the facilities are top-notch, with large bathrooms, great bedding and a clean and well-equipped fitness center. For the price, however, I don't plan on returning, given the speed of service that would be considered abysmal even at an Aloft.

What a treat to land in this wonderful hotel after 4 hours on a train. Five stars all the way. As with any trip, when we get to a new town my wife and I are a bit disoriented. This was the case in San Sebastian (especially as it was raining). When we walked into Maria Cristina we right away felt taken care of. The room was luxurious and overlooked the river with a view to the ocean. We were pampered throughout our stay (chocolates on our pillow, offered umbrellas, etc.). This is the place to stay in San Sebastian!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lee888 Amazing hotel and stay at San Sebastian
Honestly for my wife and I, this was one of our best hotel experiences. The staff was over the top attentive, the room and bathroom were spacious and clean with great decor, and the location was perfect for a visit to San Sebastian. We will definitely be returning in the future and will be recommending the hotel to our friends.

Rated 3 out of 5 by hanjon very nice but certainly not luxury
hi- i recently stayed at the maria christina for my honemoon. the hotel overall is newly renovated and has a fancy feel, but was not luxury at all.
It was billed as "luxury" but was way overpriced and the rooms while comfortable were very small and not spacious at all.

We had an incredible stay at the Maria Cristina. Our check in was flawless - Ana was very kind and welcoming. The suite overlooking the river was perfect. Guestrooms are very well appointed; the recent renovation was exceptional. The highlight of the stay was the service from the concierge staff. Joana in particular was amazing - helped with kids activities, dinner reservations, car service, and shipping luggage. She made us feel special throughout the stay. The San Sebastian Food shop in the lobby is also great - really good wines and friendly staff.

The Maria Cristina is what every "Luxury Hotel" should be : excellent service by a great staff, comfortable bed and clean room, great location. The only thing the hotel lacks is a pool.
