Forming part of Galle District, Kosgoda is a small but vibrant coastal town in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province. The Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort is set on the edge of a beautiful beach overlooking the Indian Ocean. The Kosgoda Railway Station is just a 5-minute walk from our resort. Bandaranaike (Colombo) International Airport (CMB) can be reached by car in approximately two hours.

Swim in the warm sea, soak in the sun, and enjoy a wide array of water sports, including Jet Skiing, waterskiing, and windsurfing. Kosgoda is also a prime turtle-nesting site. Adjacent to our resort is Sri Lanka’s largest turtle hatchery, Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project (KSTCP), where visitors can hold baby turtles and see how they are cared for. An evening stroll along the beach also offers the chance of seeing a female turtle digging a hole in the sand and laying her eggs. Hop aboard a small boat to go bird watching at Kosgoda Lagoon, just a few minutes by car from our resort.

See traditional masks and puppets and learn about their history at the nearby Aripalaya Masks Museum, and watch artisans making masks in the workshop. Embrace Sri Lanka’s history by wandering around the provincial capital, Galle, to view its lovely Old Dutch colonial buildings and the historic fort area. Both a designated Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sinharaja Forest Reserve is filled with rich flora, animals, and many different kinds of birds.

Shop for local handicrafts, including pottery, lace, batik, jewellery, wooden items, lacquerware, textiles, and metalwork objects. Savour Sri Lanka tea, locally brewed beer, coconut arrack, and ginger beer along with fresh seafood and Sri Lankan cuisine. Popular dishes include sour fish curry, dhal curry, prawns with rice, pennywort salad, and delicious pancakes called hoppers.
