Set along the Bay of Bengal’s Coromandel Coast, Chennai is Tamil Nadu’s state capital and is considered the musical and cultural capital of India. The Sheraton Chennai East Coast Road Resort is located on East Coast Road, approximately 40 kilometres south of Chennai. Chennai International Airport (MAA) can be reached by car in one hour.

Catch a glimpse into Chennai’s rich history at Fort St. George, India’s oldest surviving British construction, and St. Mary’s Church. Admire the stunning Dravidian architecture of the 7th Kapaleeshwarar Temple. At the Government Museum Chennai, 46 galleries display everything from art, archaeology, and anthropology to botany, zoology, and geology. The Birla Planetarium runs an inspiring show featuring the cosmic world and astronomical mysteries on a high-tech computerised projector, and also has interactive exhibits.

Experience Chennai’s highly regarded classical dance shows, music, and arts. January visitors can attend at the annual Chennai Sangamam arts festival that showcases different forms of Tamil Nadu arts. Spanning six weeks in December and January, Madras Music Season features hundreds of artistic performances. Dubbed Kollywood (after Kodambakkam) and producing more than 150 films per year in its local movie studios, Chennai’s soundtracks fill the city’s music scene.
