Rated 1 out of 5 by hotel does not meet spg qualification this hotel does not meet spg qualification and managed like 2 star family hotel.2 times canceled reservation for no reason and dont want to use spg points so just want to use benefit of spg customers but dont want to give any .other then housekeeping we did not like anyyhing in this hotel and do not recomend it to anybody. Rated 4 out of 5 by Bad reviews are overstated We were apprehensive as we saw the bad reviews after booking several days at this property. Observation number one: we were expecting a run down decor with worn out furniture,carpet etc. What we found: it has a classic beach resort look in decor and it is showing it's age but we found the lobby and floor lobbies quite upscale and clean. Rooms were on equal shape. Still passable and comfortable but dated. For example the couch in our room has a few minor tears and scratches, wall art completely faded. However we expect worse and hence thought this was still an acceptable standard but hurry up with your renovations and refurbishing. Observation two: I don't think I have ever seen a more elaborate and plentiful breakfast buffet..I cannot understand those who complained about lack of choices. Particularly in hot options. There were at least a dozen. Service: a bit laborious in English but we got there. SPG recognition: not more than a passing comment about my status and this came after I had asked if an upgrade was available. It should have been.proactively offered as a recognition of status. Gold benefit was outlined afterwards. One glaring and frustrating oversight was after we had asked about parking in the garage. We were not told there was a pass code required to enter with our four bags. My wife had to go back up to ask for the code and then no.apology offered. Not very nice. It is the little things that make it all better and because of that I held back in my rating a bit. However I stand by my assessment. This is not a bad hotel with bad food or service. Rated 2 out of 5 by HERE’S ONE “SHERATON 2020” REALLY NEEDS TO FOCUS ON OVERALL IMPRESSION: There is no accounting for taste but I think by most standards, this property would fail the good-taste test. It must have been “grand” when it opened but the Las Vegas-meets-Ephesus-meets-the Ottoman Empire decor feels dated and kitsch. Definitely time for a makeover. SPG RECOGNITION: Lacking. No member of management made any effort to greet or welcome me. Upgrade was to a “junior suite” that was smaller than most standard rooms - no mention of an upgrade to a real suite although the hotel was virtually empty. NO Sheraton Lounge. In-room amenity delivered on the second day. THE ROOM: Classified as a junior suite but was smaller than most standard rooms - although the sea view and balcony were both lovely. Furnishings very dated and bed most definitely not a “Sheraton sleeper.” LOCATION: A destination resort on its own beautiful beach. Unfortunately all beach and pool venues were closed despite fine weather as it was “end-of-the-season” creating an atmosphere that might best be described as forlorn. EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: The array and quality of offerings at the breakfast - and to a lesser extent, the dinner - buffets were absolutely mind-boggling. DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS: Despite the hotel’s “international class” aspirations, I found the staff quite lacking in professional finesse and language skills. No smiles, no greetings, lots of grunting and very little comprehension. ONE THING TO KNOW: My impression is that local convention business is the hotel’s life-blood and foreign guests - at least English-speaking ones - seem to be looked upon as some sort of necessary inconvenience. Rated 2 out of 5 by Well past its use by date- very disappointing! Let's start with the positives. As other reviewers have noted, a great location, albeit you do need a car to access the local area sights and the better restaurants in Alicata. The resorts offers direct beach access and an abundance of facilities. The staff are generally very obliging and friendly especially at the beach front. Regrettably the negatives totally overwhelm the limited positives. The only attributes of the hotel which is 5 star are the room rate and the exterior signage! The property is tired and well and truly past the time for a full renovation which I understand is scheduled for 2016. Many of the public areas are dark and gloomy. The rooms and furnishings are beyond dated, tacky and worn. In fact it's one of those hotels where the carpet in the rooms feels that bad, you feel inclined to have footwear on at all times. The breakfast buffet whilst on first glance is extensive has very limited appealing hot options. Coffee is served via a Nescafé machine and you must pay an extra of 6 euros for the privilege of any fresh juice (the standard 'juice' is at best a cordial or from a powder). Most galling and disappointing for me was the non functioning air conditioning. Over a five night stay, we made 4 separate requests for the issue to receive attention. At each request, we were assured very politely by the front desk the matter /complaints would be addressed but nothing! It is was cooler outside and it might have been bearable to have the balcony door open however even that was impossible as during our stay we were confronted with more than hundred or so very noisy guests for a Nike conference who started their team building exercises outside our room at 6.30am and had a doof doof beach disco going one night and a second outside late evening event another night. . Included in other minor grievances ,which also made our stay even less appealing, were such issues as -the coffee/tea making facility was limited to 2 satchels of instant coffee/ 2 basic brand tea bags per day ( my advice is to bring your own supplies); -one litre of bottled water per room per day ( again bring your own water) and -two bath towels per room per day (which might have been enough if there was a turn down service with fresh towels however over 5 nights we had turn down just twice)! As very experienced and extensive travellers in more than 600 cities and 100 countries, my wife and I will count this as probably the worst Sheraton resort we have had the displeasure of suffering. As for Platinum /SPG recognition, almost non existent. The key wallet was standard, room upgrade not offered and most annoying was being told at check out that I was required to pay for internet! Finally as far as the Nike convention, it destroyed any tranquility or ambiance at the resort for other guests from the constant noise from loud speakers during the day on the beach and around the pool, blocking access to your car, overloading the lifts, etc. With just a little more management and understanding towards non Nike guests, the other paying guests and the Nike group could have co-existed without having overwhelmed the resort. Rated 1 out of 5 by We got really cold Central heating was not working. Altough we warned the hotel that we were cold they turned on the heating at certain hours. This is not a three star hotel. Since it is winter time the heating should be operated 24 hours. We were really cold during the night. Spa was not clean. (Specially sauna) The breakfast buffet was lacking in variety. Weekend and weekday buffet standards were not the same. I would not recommend this hotel. November 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by training needed The hotel facilities are good, but the staff of young people were not well trained, Wait staff didn't understand the menu, cooks apparently also did not know the menu. As an example we ordered oat meal from the menu and a bowl of raw oats were delivered. At dinner we ordered appetizers and an entrée. the restaurant was not crowded, but the food was late in coming. The reason was that they held the entrée until the main dish was ready and then served everything at once. The employees were extremely friendly and they tried to provide us with good service, but there appeared to be an issue with training. October 30, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by A 5 star sea-side hotel but absolutely not Sheraton class Try to find a parking area other than the closed one. It is extremely hot like an oven and you may be surprised with some strange kind of fluid over your car probably from a leak in the air-conditioning system pipes (well..hopefully). October 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Hotel in the region I must say that Sheraton Cesme is the best hotel in Cesme region. I stayed in this hotel in the past because of some business related activities. This was the first time that I had a holiday and it was really excellent. Especially the staff of the hotel are very qualified and friendly. Thanks to all of you who made my holiday unforgettable.
