From the moment we drove up to the Lobby, we were totally impressed by the staff at the Bell Desk. Angel Badua greeted us and took over getting us checked in. We really enjoyed his friendliness and great sense of humor...he made quite an impression on my fiancé, Lance.
Angel stored our luggage and food (some requiring refrigeration and a freezer) and made sure that everything was brought to our Villa when it was ready.
We had only paid for an Island View, but the wonderful clerk at registration (Savannah?) managed to find a room on the 6th floor of building 2 that actually had a lovely ocean view! We were in Maui to celebrate our engagement, so it really meant a lot to us:)
There was absolutely no pressure on us to book a presentation tour, but we were so impressed with the staff and the grounds that we decided to look into the Westin Vacation Ownership program.
We met with Bob Davis and were impressed with his easy going, no pressure, matter-of-fact-like personality. We did not attend the presentation with any intent of making a purchase, but after Bob helped us understand how it all works...we actually purchased a villa:)
I'm sure that we weren't an "easy sale" for Bob (or Terry) because we had many questions and took plenty of time making our decision. In the end, we joined the Westin family and are VERY excited that we did!
One comment that Lance made several times during our stay there (and during the presentation with Bob) is that one of the main reasons we purchased was because of the amazing staff interaction that all started with Angel at the lobby entrance.

Beautiful grounds, pool, restaurants, rooms, service and the best snorkeling on Maui. Shuttled to Whaler's Village to catch a whale watching cruise. Quick and convenient. Easy check in. Great service. Everyone is at your beck and call to assure you have a great time. While checking out, I couldn't wait to plan my next vacation here. My son (15) found a group of kids to hang out with. He had the best time of his life. Would do this trip again in a heart beat.

Nice location, good facilities overall. Onsite dining options very limited, but I recognize that might be the point of having in-room kitchens. Service at the Ocean Pool & Bar was very slow and food was just okay. Not enough servers or kitchen couldn't accommodate the number of diners. Not enough umbrellas and/or shade by the pool. Limited number of lounge chairs always taken and saved by guests. Staff needs to the enforce 1 hour unattended rule better.

but there is nothing to get any benefit
room condition is very good but reception desk staff is very unkind
why I feel like this...
when we check in someone told us "first day parkinf fee is free
but when we check out.. sheri who is your reception staff told us "not parking fee just vallet is free!!!"
so we explain all
but she never say sorry just told us regulation..so I felt unconfortable
that is not concern money.

This hotel is great. The staff, right from the bell boys and cleaners to the front desk manager I met on my check-in were splendid. Very friendly and everyone did their best to try and make us feel at home.
We had a room with a full kitchen which met all our needs (three kids travelling too).
Check-in/Check-out staff can get busy but they are very knowledgeable and helped us with all our needs.
The food at the restaurants was great too.

Truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Stayed in the North Bldg. Lovely and very accommodating. Would definitely stay again. Kitchen was an added delight. Didn't feel like we had to go out for every single meal. Was afraid we would be giving up hotel amenities for condo style but did not give up one single amenity. Best of both worlds - condo style with full hotel service.

My wife and I spent a week here and enjoyed every day. The room -a 1 bed room suite-was spotless and had a jacuzzi tub that I actually used. Nice. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Beautiful grounds and beach-saw many whales with my binoculars. Highlights of our trip;The road to Hana (do it all!) and the road up the Haleakala volcano. Enjoy,The week just flies.

We have experienced SPG resorts in many locations throughout the world. However, the Westin Kaanapali Villas was our best experience to date. The property was spectacular: spacious rooms, beautifully landscaped, and well maintained. I cannot say enough about the front desk staff, especially Joy (sp?), and the conceirge team of Amanda and Brie. The staff took care of all details to assure my wife's 50th birthday was memorable.,

Our stay here this past week was absolutely wonderful. The grounds, restaurant, pool, lobbies etc. were perfectly maintained and staffed for this busy time of year. Joyrama was especially helpful to us when we had a hiccup with our "go green" promotion one evening. We will definitely be back as we also so appreciated the showers and guest lounge while we had to wait for our red-eye flight back to California. So very nice to have.

a spg member since 2004 -- the Oceanside Restaurant food was moderate to poor for the price/ the only benefit for being a "gold member " was the staff said thank you/ the room was nice but noisy because of a broken ice maker/ the remodel noise was minimal however the hallways were cleaned only once during 10 days despite our complaint -- Have stayed at the villas previously and loved it... this time, it was only nice.

Stayed in room 4300
Disappointed in condition of shower. Extensive black mould on tile grout. certainly not used to this with Westin.
Mini fridge froze food. No directions on fridge as to adjusting temperature.
Pond / fountain directly beneath lanai was very noisy at night (some sort of mechanical hammering).
Great location. pool, beach excellent. staff was great.

while our room was excellent, we found the food to be overpriced and mediocre, especially the italian place. my wife's eggplant dish tasted like olive pudding, while my spaghetti and meatballs were quite bland. have had much better at olive garden we are both retirees, so to us the place was quite boistrous with so many small kids. a beautiful setting and grounds would recommend it to friends with small kids

We booked an ocean view room but our view is really garden view. You have to stretch your head out to see a glimpse of the ocean. Plus we are on 2nd floor, 2 big compressors were outside our window and we have to shut our window every night to sleep, which is a pity. Otherwise, the hotel, location and rooms are very nice. I wish there are some basic cooking items, like oil, salt and pepper in the kitchen.

My family recently stayed at the Westin North. What a fantastic time we had. The staff was fantastic, the food very good, and the property was fabulous. My son could not get enough of the pools except for when we got him into the ocean and I took him snorkeling. The reef just off the beach is awesome for fish discovery.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this place to anyone.

We were on the Explorer package ($2500) and were given a room off the pool that had NO view and NO balcony. And the timeshare sale tries to tell me that we had a good value?
I was also charged for parking a rental car each day of our stay whether parked in the lot or not.
After leaving the Westin, we stayed at a different 5 star in Wialea....that is a much better value value for the money spent.

Very beautiful property, comfortable beds and and I loved the ocean view from the shower.
The concierges were amazing, so friendly and incredibly helpful.

We booked this a month in advance. We arrived just before midnight. The Valet/Bellman was very courteous. We were lead to the front counter and checked in promptly. We got to our studio. Everything we could need for our stay was there. The room was very clean. All the amenities worked and we settled in for the night. The bed of course was very comfy as it was a Heavenly Bed. The room had a huge Jacuzzi Tub, nice dressing area and a separate shower. We also had a full sized refrigerator/freezer plus a micro/convection oven and a cook top. Love love loved the room.
The concierge was extremely helpful for us. They were all so nice. The Ocean Pool Bar & Grill is where we had our breakfast. Very attentive service. Very delicious food.
This property is great for families. We don't have any little ones but if we did this would be the place.
The Starwood resorts here offer TWO SHUTTLE services. One between the resorts and the other goes from the resorts to Lahaina. They run until 1045pm. It's included... Our next visit, we will not even get a rental car.
I would highly recommend this property. We will be returning!!

After a long deployment, my wife and I decided on a vacation in Maui and thought we would stay at the best and reserve the best room they had available. We reserved an Ocean View 1 bedroom villa but we got a 1 bedroom pool view villa. We paid almost $400 extra to receive the ocean view room, but when we inquired about the room we were told this was the ocean view room???? Really, where??

I recently returned to Maui with my family for a week of vacation. we decided to book a stay at the Westin Ocean "villas" rather than the standard westin or Sheraton. we had stayed at the other spg properties previously and found the rooms to be old.
Being a platinum member, I prefer to stay at SPG properties when possible. The rooms are well appointed, but not villas....they feel like 1 bedroom hotel rooms or a small apartment. Our ocean view room (building 7) was on the side if the property and faced a empty lot. It was an ocean view if you looked to the left out of our balcony, should really be called partial ocean view and probably shouldn't be worth the upcharge.
Being a time share property, the hotel just isn't used to providing timely and daily service. We had repeated issues with our door key, and walking to the front desk was a 10 minute walk. No apologies from the front desk. Our room didn't have a functioning tv in the bedroom and we had to call and have it replaced, that happened approximately 4 hours later.
Many of the rooms at the time share are not cleaned daily, thus our room was cleaned at random times each day, often times not until 5pm.
With regard to food options, the resort is very limited with really only 2 places to eat in the north villas. Most people end up buying groceries and eating and preparing food in the rooms.
with regards to location, the beach and pools are wonderful and the stay is helpful. Definitely rent a car because you can not walk anywhere from the property.
sPG recognition? None. I'm platinum and was made to check out at 10am. No breakfast options available except for take out from a grocery store. No upgrades possible.
Overall Maui is great and our vacation was nice. I almost want to say this was despite the resort. There was an upcharge for everything. Since we travelled with 2 small kids, the villa served us well, but I would not choose this resort again next time.
In maui this is 2 strikes and out for SPG for me. After paying over $500 dollars a night, I think I'll be considering the Ritz next time since my platinum status is not useful at the SPG properties in Maui.

we travel there every year in the summer. Everything meets or exceeds our expectations on each visit. we have taken 4 other couples on different trips and everyone loves it, location, amenities, staff, activities, etc...........we have never had a bad experience..........the rooms are great, large very comfortable and well equipped.........we have never lacked for anything.

The location of resort is great, room was clean, restaurant & concierge staff was very helpful. We had some issues with pool service staff...most of the pool servers were not customer service oriented & we had to chase down staff to order food. Also, the staff working at pool service to provide towels were not very customer service oriented either.

If you are planning a trip to Maui for the family, this property is a great option. The pool is great, location is close to many dining and activity options. Due to the size of the complex, the beach was always crowded while we were there, but if you have a rental car it is a short ride to public beach many of which are not very crowded during the week.

Since we were invited to consider purchasing a timeshare option, I was surprised to see that the room we were given did not encourage purchase - uneven lighting and a/c in the room, ripped upholstery, a beautiful view of the parking lot, and upscale appliances that did not have helpful instructions. Was not impressed enough to plunk down any more cash.

Beautiful pools and hot tubs and a wonderful breakfast buffet. We were more than comfortable in the spacious room, the bathroom are perfect- would not change a thing. We had a ground floor room which I highly recommend for the perfect vacation. Thanks to all who made it great!!

The place is beautiful, wonderful property. Only on complaint; the parking is near impossible, be sure to ask for the smallest car they have. Spaces are so tight there were nights we could not park and get out of the car an both side, the passenger had to climb over to the driver side to get out.
