Rated 4 out of 5 by Housekeeping a mystery We enjoyed Le Meridien Budapest; a very nice hotel with an excellent bed! We opted to "go green" and use the same towels and bedsheets during our stay but for some reason everything was changed and new the night before we checked out. We found the housekeeping a bit of a mystery. Sometimes the waste baskets would be emptied and sometimes not. One night we came home after being out all day and there was no toilet paper at all. For a nice hotel this is not good room service. The most consistent thing the housekeeping did was keep us supplied with water, which we liked! August 24, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Management needs to learn about customer service Arrived at the hotel at 5:30 PM and was told I would have to wait for my room until 8:00 PM. I told them that I had dinner reservations at 8:00 PM and I didn't want to sit in their lobby for two hours, they didn't care. I was told a sports team had not vacated the rooms yet. It took contacting SPG headquarters to receive any response from the management. Apparently they felt coffee and snacks were enough to make up for the inconvenience. Next night went to the bar for a drink and the waiter spilled red wine over me and a guest. At check out the laundry invoice appeared on my bill - it took three phone calls to have it taken off. Additionally, the steam room didn't work for the entire stay and nobody could tell guests when it would be fixed. Hotel is in a great location, rooms on the SPG floor are very nice and breakfast is specular. But I cannot recommend this hotel and will not stay here again - just too many issues that they think they don't have to address. August 13, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel was superb! To start, hotel was excellent! Location and staff were superb. Wasn't crazy about the food, which could easily be explained by the cultural differences in food. Definitely would recommend the hotel to anybody visiting Budapest. A great surprise was when I took a taxi from hotel to downtown and made a mistake with the currency. I gave him 20,000 forints instead of 2,000. When I went to check out, the concierge, Norbert Bocsek, said he had something for me and handed me an envelope with my 18,000 forints in change! What a pleasant surprise since we always hear such negative things about taxi drivers! I ran into him again later that day and made sure to reward him for his honesty and courtesy. One thing I will point out is that I was very surprised that I could not get a Crown Royal Manhattan here, had to go to Four Seasons for that! I would say that on my four stop trip, this was the most pleasurable experience! August 18, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Highlight of our trip From the first meeting to our last good-byes, we were so pleased with the hotel and all the staff. They tended to every need and beyond our expectations. The breakfast buffet and crepes were anticipated each day. The location was perfect for our daily excursions and to experience the activity of the evening. The subway was so close which added ease to our long daily adventures. The conceirge provided great recommendations from food to tours. Our children loved the pool, and was a nice break in our daily routine. We will be back! We are so grateful we chose Le Meridian. August 10, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Breakfast as a gold Stayed here a total of 4 nights. Two as a guest of Viking River Cruises and two nights using points as a gold member. At check in I arranged to use 3000 points per person for breakfast for the award night stay. On day three, my award stay, I was presented with a bill for breakfast while starting to eat. When I told the maitre'd that I had arranged to use points I was told this was not possible. I left and went to the front desk who were no help. Later when meeting with Gabor Redling who noted the hotels mistake, after he checked to see that additional points were deducted. He offered no apology, so we left the hotel to eat elsewhere December 3, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Amazing Location for a Grand Hotel This hotel has so many things going for it. First, is the location, which is directly in the center of Pest, and located above the only transfer station for all of the Metro lines. Second is the look and feel of the hotel which is old and regal. The staff makes you feel special here, which I wish I believed was because of my status, but I think everyone gets the same treatment. The hotel had a nice gym also. The only reason I knocked this hotel a star was that housekeeping was very inconsistent. They would take towels and not return them, and I'd tell the front desk about it and it kept happening. Not a huge deal, but not what you expect from a full-service hotel. December 20, 2011
