Nice and clean hotel. Very friendly staff, always helpful. I could bring my dog with me at no extra charge. I liked the eco-friendly approach, with natural soap and shampoo, and the green and relaxing setting. I was just a bit disappointed by the fact they use only disposable plates, glasses and cutlery at breakfast (doesn't really match the green policy found in the rest of the hotel). Overall I really enjoyed my stay!

This hotel is very well located in midtown.
So much to see and do within walking distance.
We liked the happy hour service and the kitchen in our room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Billyvancouver Great Location with Fantastic Rooms and Staff
We stayed on the 39th floor with a view to die for. Hotel was well maintained and the staff extremely helpful and customer focused. Breakfast was provided and was just perfect to get going in the morning. Prior to arriving, we organized a wine on ice to be ready in room with extras... Loida, in guest services was a fantastic help in planning and ensuring all plans actually happened... Great Job, Exceptional Service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jell Hotel appearance and meals
The hotel is only two years old but the enterance needs an upgrade. The space allocation and seating in the reception area must be renewed. the meals are very basic and boring we stopped going to breakfast after the third day. We had to request fresh sheets after we had extended our stay because of the hurricane and the room was not properly cleaned after the 4th day. Other than that the stay was enjoyable and good

Rated 4 out of 5 by scmw great location with a view, comfortable, easy for business travel
The Element Times Sq. is very convenient to the Javits Center, especially if you are working in the North end. The hotel appears clean and has a great little kitchen which is stocked with real plates and glasses. Great if you want to eat leftovers or have wine in your room. Breakfast and evening snacks with beer and wine is included and time saver! It's not gourmet, but it is fine. My only complaint was that I did not have much luggage (and I had a lot) assistance in (or out) and that the shower smelled of mildew and there was water damage below the A/C heat unit that looked bad. Made me think that it was time to have the rooms deep cleaned. I don't like that the floor is dark because you can't tell if that is clean either. But for a New York hotel, it's pretty nice. It is very much do it yourself though. They did have a few bikes you can borrow too, which is pretty cool, but I did not have the time to try that out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by leesing Enjoyed my stay here
Hotel has great amenities that you don't often see in New York hotels-and I have stayed in many- free breakfast each morning, Happy Hour with drinks and good free food in early evening. Room was nice, my room had good space, great view, comfortable bed and a wonderful shower like a rainfall that I was reluctant to leave-the bathrooms are very nice! Staff was friendly-especially the doorman! Would stay here again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pauloisx A lovely hotel
A beautifully clean and spacious hotel. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and well presented with great facilities. Great bathroom with large shower cubicle. The only disappointment was the breakfast. We had hoped for a little more traditional American food but just got bagels, bread and cereal.
Overall though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Rated 4 out of 5 by makingithappen NYC - location is good for the $
Overall, the hotel was decent for a NYC off Times Square location especially for the price. They were able to accomodate a very early check in due to my travel schedule, which is always appreciated.
2 issues: one was their request to clean my room before 8am...check out is still noon, I think, but housekeeping came before 8 am to make up the room. The other was a request to the Concierge for a car service pick up to a meeting that needed a precise time and I would have preferred this over a cab ride with luggage, etc. Called the concierge to arrange the car, which they said they could and would do, but never heard back from them with the details. Ended up hailing a cab who got lost on the way to the Bronx location I was required to be at for a client meeting. Caused undue stress that would have been avoided with the concierge's help.
Otherwise, good location and the evening reception is appreciated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by David2013 Amazing could use only two improvments
My stay at this hotel with my wife was great. The hotel does seem to lack the concept of earning big bucks. Such as room service. If someone is willing to buy a ton of stuff from their store and ask to have it delivered to their room the hotel should jump on it especially if its $1,000 worth of wine. Other than that the environment was clean, the staff did not greet you which was upsetting outside of your normal check-in. They should make it a point to greet everyone that comes or leaves the hotel. The room was very clean and they perfectly timed their cleanings with your schedule without being asked. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Would of been 4 if they greeted me leavings and coming at least once which they had a whole two weeks to achieve. Would of been 5 if they met 4 star final requirement and serviced me. I was offering to purchase close to $1,000 of wine cash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MBM79 Excellent staff!
The staff were very attentive to all our needs. William checked us in on Friday and coordinated with Freddy to hold our bags til the room was ready, then made sure that the bags were in our room when we returned before dinner. Danny took care of our bags and getting a taxi on Sunday. The buffet breakfast was awesome...fresh and plentiful the whole time. Busy Columbus Day Weekend did not prevent GREAT service!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Catango Surprisingly Spacious, Great Service
The room was surprisingly spacious, especially for New York, and for the first time ever, I looked out onto Manhattan instead of onto another building's brick wall. The kitchenette with burner, microwave and fridge was great, the happy hour and breakfast incredibly convenient. Vacuuming wasn't the best, as I found a couple hair ties from previous guests on the floor, but other than that, service was wonderful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JimOSPG1 OK but...
The hotel is just OK more like a high-rise efficiency motel, which is their idea of a euro hotel. However, we had the large "king" room and there were NO comfortable places to sit and watch TV, or read or converse, in the room, or in the public spaces either. I'd call this an "IKEA" hotel. The kitchenette is nice for long stays I guess, but this was a high turnover place from what we saw and ours looked like it was never used. I'd rather have some drawers for clothes and some more comfortable seating. The complimentary breakfast was awful #rubber foil wrapped ham and egg sandwich# and happy hour food was not much better. Elevators are a real problem - had to wait a lot, and over 15 min. at times, as we watched cars go right past our floor, one after another. All that said, the service staff was excellent #best part of the stay#, the rooms clean, and the linens soft and fresh.

Rated 4 out of 5 by fred89 One prob that seems to be getting worse
The elevators...it ssems that there are one too few, and the three that do work are very slow and seem to skip floors randomly, menaing that if i am on the 9th floor and i see the elveator is at 15th floor, it will go past me on way to lobby, and this happens A LOT. i never got an elevator in less than 5 min of waiting.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jfg2003 Location in No Man's Land
We were underwhelmed by this property. It is in a funny location, and the whole back of the hotel for the first 15 floors looks out over the Port Authority Bus Terminal which is uninspiring to say the least. Our room was larger than what we've had at the Four Points properties in Manhattan, but we'd choose those for their superior locations.
Free wifi and nice free breakfast were much appreciated.

What a great great find in Manhattan. So many positives to note. Perhaps best was the in room kitchette, coffee maker and all the supplies one needs for eating in. Layout of room was ideal with great desk and space to work. Heavenly bed was amazing. Morning breakfast buffet was generous and crowded. I can see what this fuss is about with this specific Element. Truly a wonderful stay and an amazing 'find.'

Rated 5 out of 5 by AugTraveler Last minute overnight stay
Highly recommend. We needed a single night stay near Times Square, and near subway station for luggage transfer. I booked online and hoped for the best. Super clean, with a wonderful king bed and even a surprise view of Empire State Bldg. Room seemed smaller than I expected but very functional. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Exceeded my expectations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ABtraveler Convenient but not great
The price is right for the space and amenities and if you need to be in midtown it's a short walk. However neighborhood is loud and the elevator situation can be quite frustrating. I love Starwood hotels but this was not up to par with what they are known for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by skotzman Best hotel in NYC
I have stayed at many high end hotels in NYC and I have to say that this very reasonably priced hotel is better than them all.
The staff are the friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless, and comfortable.
Many properties offer kitchen facilities, but unlike many this one really has a fully equipped kitchen.
This was my first stay here, and from now on will be my first choice when staying in NYC!

Rated 5 out of 5 by krs1ma excellent staff
Everyone was great from the moment I walked through the door. This hotel was an overflow for my conference. The care I received put my reluctance at bay and enjoyed my stay at the Element. The staff went out of their way to find an umbrella I left in the room, unfortunately I had to catch a train, but I told the front desk remember me every time it rains, thanks Element for a comforting experience.

Loved it. Full Fridge in your room to stock up with food from the Deli's in NYC. Great location for tourists as you just need to go down to 42nd and there are 40 Cinemas and loads of crappy restaurant chains. The New York Times are also across the road so there are loads of good restaurants and Deli's that cater to them. You get free breakfast and free beer and wine from 5-7 every night. Go Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RayD Excellent choice on Times Square
This hotel is an excellent choice on Times Square particularly for the self-sufficient business traveler or tourist that doesn't care about room service and useless luxuries. Refrigerator, stove, dishes, silverware in the room, lots of power sockets. a comfortable bed, a little convenience store downstairs, excellent location, just around the corner from the ACE lines, and very economical.

I recently stayed at the Element while visiting universities with my son and the hotel exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent . . . walking distance to Penn Station, subway and theaters. The staff was helpful and friendly and we loved the breakfast . . . by far the best we experienced on our trip through the Northeast. The room was comfortable and clean. I loved used my starpoints.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mitchell11 A disappointment
I had high hopes to try SPG's new Element hotel. It was the same points as Westin, but I was interested in giving it a try, and liked the idea of the mini-kitchens in each unit. The first problem was that we had booked adjoining rooms given we have two young children (4 and 1 years old). However, when we arrived they said they were not able to accomodate us and only were able to have us on the same floor. This required my wife and I having to split up (one with each kid), and basically having to go to bed at 8pm (bummer for our vacation). The hotel was able to correct this the next day, but that was disappointing. In addition, the hotel seemed overwhelmed with its crowds given the holidays, and the service level of the front desk and bell man suffered. Lastly, the elevators in this building are inadequate to keep up when it's busy. You often waited, at times up to 10 minutes for an elevator!

I will stay at this hotel again for sure. Great location, wonderful staff and a nice clean room. The bathroom was way cool - wish mine at home was that nice! I was expecting much re the free breakfast, but it was delicious, with a lot of variety. Most importantly, the staff of the hotel were all extremely helpful and responsive to my needs. I cannot say enough good things about my experience.
