Rated 4 out of 5 No longer my favorite business hotel in the city
I have been staying at the Element since it opened and as a Platinum SPG member very happy with this choice of hotel. I have always had somewhat of an issue with the elevators....you have to wait forever for one. This week was the last straw. I was on my way to a business meeting at 9:30 and walked out of my hotel room at 8:55. The elevators were so packed with people that I couldn't get on. I had a suitcase so stairs were not an option (20th floor). Calling the front desk did not help. They said there wasn't anything they could do. By the time i got on an elevator and reached the first floor it was 9:30 and i was late for my meeting. I will likely be staying at a different hotel in 2014.

Rated 4 out of 5 Elementally great
A clean cut delightful hotel in a terrific location for
my family. We were mother, daughter and 2 young ones. The fact that the Element filters the drinking water in your room and this was a huge plus for us. We didn't ned to lug water bottles to the rooms. the hotel makes an effort to be a green environment.Staff from housekeeping to the office manager particularly Jung S Lee were empathic and functional when we
had issues with travel plans not related to the hotel.
And for the most part no soiled carpets in the rooms, mostly tile or antimicrobial pads.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RafKam Just OK
For business, I didn’t really care for the location. Just a little too far from everything, including business and entertainment options. Might be ok for tourists on a budget, but then rates are rarely a bargain.
I did like the room, even though it felt quite cramped. It felt clean, with nice hardwood-like floors, and neutral Ikea-style furniture. The fully equipped kitchen might be appealing for some, but in NYC it seems unnecessary. The lobby is not great, feels like a cramped doctor’s waiting room, and the breakfast, while adequate considering it’s included, is served in an area that is far too small, so most people end up choosing to carry the disposable plates and cups to their rooms. While I didn’t have as bad an experience as some others with the elevators, it is clear they are inadequate for the number of floors in this building.
It’s an ok SPG property for NY, put not exactly at the top of my list. Platinum recognition here is almost non-existent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cuznbetty The Element on 39th Street - Great place to stay!
This hotel was clean and everything was great. It is in a convenient location to all of the holiday attractions in Manhattan. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful - especially Steven - who, when asked about directions to the NY Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, accompanied us on the train and bus ride, as he was getting off and lived only a couple of blocks from it. A special thanks for that. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when we visit NYC.

Rated 2 out of 5 by karennco room accommodations
You need to sleep in a room that is designed BEFORE you purchase the furniture and hire the architect.
1) NO draws to put clothes but plenty of draws for the kitchen equipment. If you want some extended stays in this hotel.. you need to be smarter.
2) the TV is positioned wrong. It is on the side of the bed so whoever is in bed has to lay on their sides. Very very annoying. If the person closest to the TV is big, then the person on the other side can NOT see over that person. Put the TV on the wall at the foot of the bed. Use the space for FURNITURE!!!
3) Breakfast Fantastic
4) Staff Fantastic
5) Lobby Fantastic
6) Gym Fantastic

Rated 3 out of 5 by cath62 this hotel is very central
I found the hotel to be clean, modern and centrally located. My problem was with the facilities at breakfast, although the food was good there certainly is not enough room to comfortably accommodate the amount of guests at the hotel. I found there to be wasted space where the tv and computers were placed, they would be better utilised with more tables and seating. Also is was very cold in the breakfast area, we sat every day with our coats on ! Very small lifts also did not accommodate the amount of guests, we walked down the stairs most days. Having said all this the staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jules1 A hotel that ticks all the right boxes.
The Element is perfectly located, within walking distance of many of New York's top attractions. It's close to the bright lights of Times Square, but situated on the quieter West 39th Street - which means the hotel is conducive to a good night's sleep despite being in the heart of the Big Apple. The Element is spotless and well equipped, with each guestroom coming with its own kitchen area, fridge and cooking facilities. Breakfast is provided, a rarity in a New York hotel, as well as a 'happy hour' several nights a week offering guests complimentary drinks and nibbles. A selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate are also available in the reception area at all times, on a help yourself basis. Staff at the hotel are professional and friendly, and the views of the Empire State building from the roof terrace - and, indeed, from my guestroom on the 30th floor - were breathtaking. I couldn’t fault the Element and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
