Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible Experience I can not begin to say enough wonderful things about Element and their staff. From the moment I walked in until I checked out it was one of the best NYC hotel stays I have ever experienced. Samantha at the front desk was my go to girl. She made my stay wonderful, made everything so easy and made sure I had everything I could possibly need. The rest of the hotel staff was top notch and helped me to the max. I felt like I left there with a whole new group of friends who I can always count on. Element Time Square will always be my #1 recommendation and choice when I am staying in Manhattan. Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Unsatisfactory We checked in on Thursday for my birthday and anniversary weekend. We were booked into a room on a high floor (met expectations) but in a room where the walls were all dirty, bathroom ceiling had mold and the shower wall (glass) was cracked and peeling off. I immediately reported this to the front desk and the Front Office Mgr was very responsive and accommodating. She put us in a bit larger room but it was dirty. Windows and mirrors were dirty. Bed comforter was dirty. Smelled like arm pit. Hallways floor carpets were disgusting- needed vacuum and shampoo. Elevators we dirty 24/7. Floor buttons didn't lit. Lobby was dirty and walls needed painting. Breakfast was disgusting. Bagels were plastic and eggs were carton. Paid $400/night and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Some of the front desk staff was nice and some hated their jobs. VERY DISAPPOINTING. October 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Kitchenette is a nice feature Tiny room with a tiny window, kitchenettle was a very nice feature, though. Not much in the way of platinum recognition - was next to the elevator, which, by the way, is a long wait. Location is good for the theatre. October 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT GEM IN THE HEART OF TIMES SQUARE! It's getting harder and harder to find a balance between comfort, great staff service, and affordable hotel prices in NYC. However, I have to say that the Element on 39th Street is truly a GREAT FIND! Free full breakfast and cocktails, full kitchen (yes with full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and more!) However, being a couple of blocks away from the busy TIMESQUARE, the Element is my personal oasis. The STAFF is the best feature of this establishment. The manager, LYNN W. is the most accommodating and professional hotel manager I have ever met! The staff like Freddie and Loita are also very accommodating, prompt, and respectful. This type of service is the main reason why I always book the Element. They don't wait for you to have a problem, the staff makes sure that you are beyond comfortable, they actually care that the guests are happy. It's sometimes hectic but the other features of the hotel more than make up for this! MAHALO and ALOHAto Lynn, Freddie, Loita who made our numerous stay such a great experience. We will be back! Rated 1 out of 5 by Failure on basic customer service I travel frequently and stay almost exclusively at SPG properties. This was my first Element expereince, and I intend it to be my last. The hotel is branded as a business traveler's hotel and that it is not - it was a tourist mess. Trying to get coffee in the morning was similar to a cattle run due to terrible organization. Further the water went out not once, but twice in my two night stay and there was absolutely no pro-active management of the situation, rather they waited for guests to "notice" when they tried to turn on the water. Understanding that these things do happen, the level of customer service that came in response was absolutely unacceptable. February 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by all around enjoyable stay Spent 6 days In August/2014. We were very happy with the hotel, location perfect, room very clean, staff excellent, free happy hour and breakfast amazing. We stayed on a top view floor and did not find any problems with elevators.(One of our worries from other reviews). The only day we had problems was the day we left and had to catch Amtrac,, the hotel had one elevator closed off, who knows why they do that. So it was slow getting down that day. We especially want to mention, Karisma, who was one of the hostesses for the happy hours and breakfast, she made you feel very welcome. We really enjoyed her. But all the staff were great. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The room was a bit small with the kitchenette (which was very handy) but who spends anytime in their room. October 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Buyer Beware - Hidden Charges I had a family emergency and at 8am had to leave the hotel. I spoke with the front desk and they said they would have to charge me $150 early departure fee. I asked for them to waive it - she would not then I asked to speak to the manager and not only did he smirk and laugh at me for asking (mind you I am a platinum member) he threatened to charge me the whole night (250 plus taxes) if I did not leave. This property has the worst customer service and I have reported it to corporate and the company that I work for. Avoid at all costs the staff are not accommodating to the customer's needs at all. They will laugh at you. As an update, they never waived the fee and charged taxes to their $150 fee. 9 hours at this hotel ended up being $476!!! Talk about ridiculous! January 3, 2014
