Rated 5 out of 5 by eager2eat well located and well appointed
tastefully and well appointed and comfortable rooms with multiple assists for the hard of hearing. Well located in the heart of Boston on the campus of MGH and Mass Eye and Ear with views of the Charles River and across the street from an MBTA station. Staff is well trained and welcoming and there is a superb restaurant attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kelly31 Great Stay
I stayed at Liberty Hotel for one night because of its proximity to TD Garden. The location was perfect as well as only a short walk to the Common and Charles St. Shopping. The room was comfortable, bathroom great, and the staff goes out of their way to meet your needs. I will definitely stay here again when in Boston.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ToniB Another lovely stay.
I always enjoy my stay, and wouldn't thinlk of staying anywhere else. This time, however, there was a distinctive odor when I walked into the room. The room smelled musty. I think the carpet was the issue. I noticed that the water ran out from the shower and right to the carpet outside the bathroom. It was bothersome enough that I was going to call the desk and ask for another room; however the bed wa so comfortable, I fell right asleep. This is the only reason I didn't give The Liberty all 5 stars! It was disturbing, however. I think it should be addressed.
Thank you for the opportunity for feedback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by star2v Trendy hotel is the life of the party
We held a bachlorette party this weekend at the Liberty hotel. It was the perfect location - central to downtown Boston and with a fun bar of its own. Staff was very helpful with the registration - plus the glass of cava was a nice touch. The rooms were very nice with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was perfect - large with both a tub and a shower. We ate at the bar upstairs twice and enjoyed our food both times. Added bonus - getting into the bar Alibi without standing in line! All in all a very good experience.

Rated 3 out of 5 by lindsay56 I love the Liberty but...
I've stayed at the Liberty 5 times in the past 4 months and my experience has gone from extremely positive to disappointed during each successive stay. The hotel is lovely, the staff friendly and yet it seems that frequent guests and Starwood Gold members are not particularly valued. Initially I was able to book a corner King room with a view of the Charles River on a high floor for ~$225/night. Most recently, I paid $425 for the tiniest room across from the elevator. The view was of the hospital, there was no coffee maker and no room for a comfortable chair. When I mentioned that I would like a coffee maker, I was told none was available. Really? For $425? Finally, for the 2nd visit in a row, I have had to ask for my bill to be emailed 3 times. Currently, 4 days after checking out, I still don't have it. I think I'm going to have to rethink my hotel choice on my frequent trips to Boston.

Rated 4 out of 5 by johhnie Great hotel but has some issues
THE Good= Check in was awesome as front desk staff was very nice. Gym was very nice but on the small side.
The BAD=Food selection was not to our liking(We thought the menu was very limited) My wife's pasta was horrible. The weather was bad so lived with it.. Elected to use bellman for luggage because room was not ready(I was more than willing to wait for an upgrade)luggage was not put in room as we were told and I didn't get a stub so we thought luggage was missing.. Dogs hanging out in Lobby was not right. I love that the hotel is pet friendly but they are a distraction when just hanging around. Was charged $7.57 from minibar and never touched it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by RMM007 Plagued with problems
Stayed one night and here's what I encountered:
- Television that worked poorly (screen kept blinking)
- Wake-up call wasn't delivered
- Toilet didn't work and got backed up
- Outlet near the bed didn't work for a medical device that needed to be plugged in
- When I checked out, I told the staff that the stay wasn't great and the front desk staff didn't ask why
- When I asked for a manager to register my complaints, he was not receptive
- $45 for parking
What a screwed up place!!!!!

The welcome upon arrival was extremely comforting and relaxing. Taylor was gracious at sign-in, and the glass of champagne was a soothing touch. As Starwood members, we were awarded extra points and a room upgrade. The lobby is beautifully unique. Rather than the usual rush to get to our room, we lingered for nearly an hour in the lobby, seated in an armchair, sipping the champagne, enjoying the ambiance. I am sure I have never ever done that in another hotel! The hotel restaurants and bars are splendid and popular with locals. Getting away from the hotel itself, its location is excellent for shopping, attractions, restaurants, and is next door to MGH if you are receiving treatment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DQuirk This hotel does everything to meet expectations
We stayed for two nights at the Liberty Hotel for a wedding. The Hotel was breath taking, the rooms definitely met our expectations. The wedding was incredible. Can't say enough about the hotel. After we left I got an email that they found my wallet. So nice to have such honest people. They offered to mail it so I dont have to find time to go to Boston. Again meeting all expectations and some.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveCt Stayed 2 days for New Year's Eve 12/30-1/1/2014
My wife and I went to the Liberty for 2 nights after seeing Prince at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. When we arrived the valet took our car and luggage without a problem. We went to the lobby to check in and the staff were helpful and friendly offering us 2 glasses of Champagne, we sat in the lobby while our luggage was placed in our room. The atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. The staff responded professionally to our requests when we checked in. We want to especially thank Danielle for bringing our Champagne to us, she was willing to talk with us , my wife and I are both over 60 ( in a room of younger people though we are not "old 60") . She made us feel comfortable before the NYE party and during. She is an asset to your team while giving excellent customer service. We look forward to joining you next New Years and during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GinaMarie Wonderful in every respect!
There is nothing about this hotel that was not perfect. From the acknowledgement of my SPG status to the glass of champagne for me and sparkling lemonade for my daughter. The staff was wonderful, the room was perfect and the food in Clink and Scampo were oustanding!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by NA2014 Great room and decor, staff and service need improvement
The decor and amenities in the hotel are unique and the suite award was wonderful.
However, the service was lacking. Was told at 1:30pm that previous guests had vacated the room and the room cleaning would be made a top priority however the room was not available until 4pm and only after having to follow up with the front desk and the manager Bryan several times who repeatedly told us 10 minutes. Clearly the cleaning wasn't made a priority and as a result we hung around waiting for what we were told would be a short period but clearly was 2 hours. My expectation is the hotel stood by their time commitment and was more honest throughout the process.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jechho Nice property - but very noisy
In addition to the very hectic lobby during the weekends (there was a fashion show there the night we stayed...), a lot of the rooms with river/city view have noise coming from the nearby train/subway station. I am a bit surprised that so few people here has mentioned that. We actually switched from a suite to a regular room due to this. (Needed the sleep due to a long trip back to Europe the next day). But while the regular room facing the courtyard was quiet from the outside, a terrible plumming noise from the bathroom above was coming and going - I think it was from the use of the bath tub above.
All in all a very stylish hotel, but we would only stay at the top floor AND facing the back or courtyard if we were to return. Too bad about the noise, as this is one of the hotels that you REALLY want to love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JHConsultant Great Property Near Boston Common
Overall: The Liberty Hotel is a great property with a unique history, terrific rooms overlooking the river, excellent SPG recognition, convenient access to public transportation, and a vibrant nightlife.
Check-In & SPG Recognition: Wil, the front desk associate, was polite and professional. I received an SPG Platinum Status upgrade from a Deluxe King room to a Signature Suite on the 8th floor.
Room: The suite was fantastic, including terrific river views, separate living room and bedroom, a dining table, and a large bathroom. The appointments were comfortable, tasteful, and well-maintained.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Joel59 Great hotel; but no hot water
We really enjoyed our stay, but this is the second time in a month we stayed here and there was only tepid water in the shower. The staff comped us $100 off our bill, but we wondered why no hot water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SweetJustice47 Best hotel for a Birthday gathering with friends
From check in to check out the service was outstanding. We checked in on Friday afternoon to start my birthday weekend celebration and were pleasantly surprised with a glass of champagne, wow what a great way to welcome guests. The hotel upgraded our room for my birthday, we had a very nice room over looking the courtyard and had a nice view of the Charles river. The room was beautiful and had everything one needed when away from home and was immaculate. The bathroom was beautifully designed and decorated, and the shower had great water pressure and wonderful soaps and lotions. During our stay we had drinks in the lobby bar area, ate dinner at Alibi and had breakfast at Clink, all very good (martini's were tasty). I have to say my favorite part of the hotel was the lobby, it is a must see if you are in the area. The hotel staff should be commended for their outstanding, superior customer service, everyone went out of their way to make our stay amazing. We can't wait for our next visit. Thank you for making my birthday weekend a great experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KellyWDC Very nice
Beautiful hotel, comfortable room, and excellent location, especially if you're visiting the hospital. My only request is that the morning coffee be left out a bit later than 9:30 - not everyone staying there has to be on their way to work early in the morning. 10am, or even 11am (is that pushing my luck?), would be great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by TravelerChloe Disappointing
For the price, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Service was lackluster, I called for a luggage rack when I arrived and two hours later it still wasn't delivered. I finally asked the maid who came to do the turn-down and she brought it. The Molton Brown products were harsh for your skin and hair, and there was no body/hand lotion, so your skin just gets super-dry after washing your hands. Also, I was sent an email before my arrival with the header "an exclusive offer for your upcoming visit", but there was no offer, and when I inquired they did not reply.
The lobby is gorgeous, so a good place for a drink, but don't bother staying the night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KathyB Amazing customer service!
Staying at the Liberty Hotel was a delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. We were warmly greeted and offered a refreshing cold drink on arrival. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful view of the Charles River. The sparkling wine and fresh strawberries were such a fabulous way to celebrate our special weekend. Boston is an amazing city and Mary Ann, the concierge at the Liberty Hotel, was extremely helpful in planning our days....she was absolutey delightful to work with and really went above and beyond to assist us. We also had dinner at Scampo's and were very impressed with the exquisite cuisine which was paired with a relaxing setting. We would definitely stay here next time we visit Boston.

The hotel is beautiful and staff exceptional. Keep up the good work. Dawn

Rated 1 out of 5 by JimOSPG1 The Worst SPG Stay EVER
Reception was good but the last time doorman opened the door for us. Room was OK supposedly a SPG Preferred Guest "upgrade". Bath linen was worn out and frayed and “rough”, none of the dispensers in the shower worked, the scale was broken, and the suit/pants hangers were splintered. Mary Anne the Concierge and Falon at reception and guest services were great and the MOST professional staff there - can't say the same for any of the rest of the staff. Stayed 5 nights and my spouse was a Sr. Exec VP of major international hotel chain for 20 years so have a good knowledge. One night at 10:30 trying to get a night cap in lobby bar no seats...but staff (on duty front desk agent included) had a table and were drinking! This was reported but never was acknowledged. Next...the "Private Cat Walk Bar" was never opened but was told we could get my own cocktail and "luxuriate" there on our own...which we tried. It was cluttered with dirty glasses, empty wine bottles and other debris form what must have been a function in a room above. Tried the Clink...mediocre food and over-priced, though our server was professional. Tried Alibi...it was quiet but the bartender Christy as I recall, was more interested in talking with friends than serving customers. It just went down-hill from there! Could not wait to get “parolled”!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DB84 Super accomodating for patients at MGH!
The staff at the Liberty is tremendous and really go the extra mile when we're there with our daughter for her care at MGH. They are over-the-top compassionate and accomodating during the difficult times of having a loved one in the hospital.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mwood86 Outstanding customer service
I had booked a suite for two nights on awards, and it turned out the hotel was committed 100% and had oversold my suite. I worked with Falon and & Rachel (GM), and they were outstanding. I could not have asked for better customer service. In the end, we agreed upon a more than fair compensation for my troubles. Hotel bar is hopping at night, and has a line out the door. I came over from W Boston, and I think this is my new place when I'm in Boston. Outstanding views of Charles River, Cambridge & Boston.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NotAtLibertyToSay One of my best hotel experiences
The staff was gracious and helpful in every way, by far the most attentive I have experienced. There were some snafus regarding the number of beds in the rooms but they resolved quickly and gave us the correct accommodations. The room was very clean and if the view had been better it would have been 5 stars. The cava/prosecco at check-in was very relaxing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by RoadWarrior60 Love the Liberty - but need bigger counter in bathrooms
Repeat guest and really appreciate what the Liberty offers. However, the counter space in the bathrooms is so limited, it makes it uncomfortable to get ready in the morning. Maybe some shelves to store a guest's personal items would help.
