We've stayed at the Liberty many times. We've loved the location, decor, and relaxing at the beautiful bar in the vault ceiling lobby. However, for the past few stays, the service in the lobby bar was poor--it's very hard to get servers to come over even during quiet afternoons. After waiting for 15 minutes for a server to come over (she kept disappearing for long periods) we asked a manager if she could take our order, and she was quite irritated with us. For our most recent stay, we were told that there was only one room left, an upgraded delux room available for $500. We were disappointed to find that the room was not what we expected based on our past stays. We dont mind paying the price for a nice room, but we felt mislead. We could have booked at one of the many other hotels in Boston. When we expressed that to the desk clerk the next day, she appeared unable to understand that we would have liked to have had a fairer description of the room. We didnt want any financial gain, we wanted to express that the booking could have been done better. Her response was defensive. We felt like it is such a privilege to stay at the Liberty, we were outrageous to voice a concern. I am not sure that we will book here again for a long time.

We had a sad reason for being at the hotel: our son was in the ICU at Mass General Hospital next door. However, the Liberty Hotel was a lovely place to find respite from the long days. Although we weren't in the party mood, there was a seriously fun vibe happening in the lobby, which also happens to be the hub of the dining options. There is a great mixture of local people and hotel guests, all enjoying the atmosphere. There is champagne freely flowing at the reception desk and I must admit I took up a couple of glasses to our room to celebrate our son's discharge from the hospital. We stayed in one of the tower rooms, which was very quiet for a hotel next to a hospital. The bed, sheets, and the whole room have an air of understated luxury.
I ordered a burger and fries from room service one night, the meal came in lightning speed and was delicious. I can't speak about the restaurants because we were too busy at the hospital to avail ourselves, but they all looked full and vibrant.
The Liberty Hotel is in a perfect location to walk anywhere in Boston, particularly Beacon Hill and Faneuil Hall area. I would highly recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed. Special shout out to K at the front desk for his kindness.
