Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Experience We stayed here with our extended family for 5 days and while the resort is perfect for families the staff and service were terrible. The concierge were incredibly unhelpful. We spent hours planning trips with them and wherever we went we ran into problems i.e. trips weren't actually booked-eventhough we paid for them ahead of time, times they gave us were wrong. After a while we realized that they didn't understand a word we were saying. While I am respectful to the fact that we are in their country, if they are in hotel business which caters to tourists they should be able to communicate with their guests. We paid ahead of time for transportation to and from the airport, ahead of time, and of course they never booked it and we came late to the airport. While this resort is great for families, don't go with any expectations at all. February 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Service and accomodations We first stayed May and enjoyed it so much we booked again for October. We enjoyed the service of Arline and Williams in May. When we returned in October they actually remembered us and gave us the same great service. All was great while we were there. The one area that we feel needs some improvement is the front desk area. Always seem to be disorganized and can not handle special requests very well. February 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Girls Trip I visited the Westin Lagunamar in Cancun in January 2016 with two close friends. We had a fantastic time! The property exceeded our expectations with stunning pools, excellent massages at the spa (with Zulma, Lauris and Lily), the best we've ever experienced and wonderful pool service, day after day! Efrain took especially good care of us each afternoon by the pool. Every room has a fantastic view and our balcony was happy hour headquarters. We will definitely be back next year!! February 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by clm57 we did not think it was possible to improve the overall resort but THEY DID! It is a true vacation with the comforts of home. We love to cook and this resort gives us that. Breakfast is a requirement and Oceano never disappoints,The staff is efficient, polite and spoil you with service. Henry has been our favorite for 3 plus years and always makes us feel very welcome. He remembers what we order its amazing. When we had any issue in the suite calling maintenance was not a bother they respoontd faster than ever and fix it and are just amazing. February 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful vacation. Recently spent a week at the Westin Lagunamar - fantastic experience ! A beautiful resort with great amenities and great service. The people on staff were excellent - service with a smile, always very helpful and accommodating. Two servers at the Oceano restaurant deserve special mention : Webster and J Alfledo. Their sense of pride in their work was clearly evident - always attentive no matter how busy, very friendly yet courteous and respectful. Great ambassadors for the resort. "Thanks guys for helping make our stay so memorable". Thanks to our concierge Delfina as well, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave our family great recommendations on local amenities and excursions. Can't wait to return. January 29, 2016

Their willingness to help, the genuine care they have for their role, and the friendliness displayed in all facets go beyond expectations. Add that to the beauty and decor of the resort itself, and we feel it's been our best experience yet in our twenty years with Starwood. We can't wait to go back! January 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another Great Trip!!! Just got back from the Lagunamar last week and I must say it was just perfect! This is probably my 6th time here (I am not a timeshare owner) and I must say it was perfect as usual. First everyone knows property is gorgeous, my Platinum status was recognized immediately and they went above and beyond for me and I will leave it at that! Housekeeping did a FANTASTIC job!!! Thank you so much they were always smiling and always said hello to you everyday and kept the villa spotless and I mean spotless! Breakfast staff at Oceano also job well done everyone there was always willing to help you or just chat for a moment thanks to all!!! Pools and hot tubs heated nicely, nice happy hour, and plenty of chairs at the pool and on the beach. Thank you again Westin Lagunamar for a perfect time from a Lifetime SPG Platinum Member!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Home away from home I NEVER write reviews. However, I love this resort and can't say enough positive things to express the wonderful experiences we've had at The Westin Lagunamar. Quality of sleep only got a 4 because I have an adjustable orthopedic bed at home that NOTHING compares to. Having said that I slept well while staying here. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and courteous; always eager to be of service. The food has greatly improved and exceeded my expectations. During this visit, 1\2016, the meat at " Steak night" was better than that of a locally renowned steakhouse. My experience at the spa was excellent as was the massage. While you're there, be sure to keep an eye out for Apolonio at Duna and Joaquin at the Viento pool bar. Truly fantastic men who will make sure you have a proper vacation. Can't wait to go back! She helped us navigate through the city, made top shelf reservations for my wife and I for restaurants and excursions. She was knowledgeable, kind and patient with us. We will return back to Cancun to enjoy the resort and all that it has to offer. It was a relaxing trip. January 14, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect room and resort Stayed in a Studio room #1243 . Awesome view. Room was vert clean and the layout for a studio was excellent. You could view the ocean and beach from your bathtub. Mall is directly across the street. Great pool complex and of course the ocean is beautiful. Yes some seaweed but the Westin worked hard to keep it from interfering with your experience. Lunch was always great and not too expensive considering how expensive food is at other top tier Cancun resort. We like not having all inclusove so we can sample the local flair. Will be back January 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Customer Service We were vacationing at Cancun Lagunamar resort in Dec 2015. The manager Abraham was fantastic. He was always friendly and ready to help. His team includes Webster, Adrian, Kimy, Alfredo, Jacome, Carlos and Guillermo. They were all very nice and helpful through out the 8 days we were there. I would recommend this resort to anyone that is looking for a non all inclusive hotel in cancun. December 31, 2015

Everything once again was great! Highly recommended for a family getaway. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel! The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort is a beautiful hotel. Our room was awesome and the view from our room was beautiful. We were on the 6th floor with views of the pools and beach. The staff was very friendly. The servers were very attentive including down at the beach. The food and drinks were tasty but can get spendy quick. Too bad this resort isn't an all inclusive. I would definitely stay at Westin Lagunamar again if it changed into an all inclusive. I would also like to note that the location is perfect for families with teenagers because it is right across the street from one of the best malls I've been to. If you go to the mall, try out the Thai restaurant. I know you're in Mexico but you will not regret it. The ambiance alone is worth checking out and the food was surprisingly good! We took the bus to the "strip" which only took about 5 minutes to get to. We found a supermarket there and bought water, alcohol, food, bring back to our room to somewhat save money. Overall, my first time experience in Cancun and Westin Lagunamar exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this resort. December 27, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by once again a delighful stay We have been coming to Lagunamar for 8 years as owners. We've been to 5 other Westin villas including Hawaii, St John and California. The resort is relaxing and calming. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Pool and Viento staff helped make it a friendly stay -- Eduardo, Marco, Marcus A., Roberto to name a few. Outstanding in friendly service were Arline at Viento and Oceano breakfast, and newbie Karimme for breakfast. December 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great service I am not one to write reviews, but I felt compelled to acknowledge the excellent staff at this hotel. Breakfast at the Oceano Restaurant on the premises was excellent. Our daily server Enrique was there to make sure every meal was exceptional. My coffee cup never made it below half without Enrique filling it up with a smile. It was sincere, and relaxing. The staff around him followed his lead. Nothing better than feeling welcomed on vacation. Too many times that isn't the case. December 14, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply Spectacular This was our family's first time in Cancun. The Westin Lagunamar Resort experience is one that will remain in our memories forever. It is a beautiful place to spend a family vacation. The resort, restaurants on property and location make it undeniably the best. However, your staff makes this place unforgettable. We were treated like royalty, everywhere! The "Hola, hola's" and smiles started with Oscar at the front door! Then, continued with Juaquin at the pool bar, Viento crew, Duna Sportbar staff, Carlos at Oceano, and the loving, fun and friendly activities crew of Leonardo, Luci, Claudia and Marcela. We hope to come back for a visit soon. Keep up the amazing work! Your team can surely come to Orlando and teach the resorts a few things ;) December 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the best hotels We love this hotel and the staff. We have now stayed here 3 times and it just keeps getting better. The pools are awesome, restaurants had perfect meals (we ate there for almost every meal for a week), the beach is well maintained and rooms are the best for a family. I travel the world for my business and I rarely find this level of service and name recognition. The staff works very hard and they want you to be happy. William at the pool bar and Eduardo the pool concierge especially stand out for excellent service. We will miss all of our Westin friends and look forward to returning soon. November 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cancun 2015 Our first visit to Cancun couldn't have been much better; My wife and I had a great time; We are a bit more adventurous than some, so we rode bus to a lot of nearby sites and activities; The Lagunamar resort was perfectly situated to get to most places; Our personal concierge, Victoria Ortiz, starting taking care of us BEFORE we left home; Victoria had so much enthusiastic energy whenever we popped in to ask her advice; She always considered our comfort level when making suggestions; There are many restaurants nearby to choose from; Shopping is literally across the street; We enjoyed it so much we're already planning our return trip in 2016; We made some fast friends as well, who may join us in 2016; We were so enamored with the property we ended up purchasing a week at Lagunamar; That is a definite endorsement of our time spent at Westin Lagunamar; November 10, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Terrible check in process and staff responsiveness There is no friendliness of the staff at the reception, no appreciation as a customer. The process of check-in is too slow and at the time they assign a room they do it based on how much you ask for a "not so bad room" The personnel at the hotel really don't care about you as a person less as a SPG. Lack of professionalism and dishonest behavior when requesting changes to your reservation. November 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Views The pools are wonderful. The beach is large and clean. The views from the 4th floor where breathtaking. The room was large, more like a condo. The food was excellent. We had great service poolside and at the hotel restaurants. The hotel is located across the street from a great shopping mall with lots of food choices. The bus stops right in front of the hotel and is very easy to use. The only negatives were the construction taking place on our floor, we had paint fumes drifting in one night. There are plenty of pool chairs, but if you want a space next to the pool you need to get up very early. Overall, this was a beautiful property and the service was excellent. November 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by "Home" resort My wife, Ginette, and I recently returned from our latest trip to Lagunamar Resort in Cancun, Mexico. We have been going to Lagunamar since 2008 and always expect to be well received when we travel to Lagunamar but every time we go, even with our high expectations, we are amazed by the absolutely outstanding warmth of the staff. From Corina and Gustavo in reception who worked with us to make our mid-stay (2 week) transition as seamless as possible, to Kimy and Gerardo in the Tierra Market who provided advice and direction for cooking and supplies, every interaction with the staff was over-the-top. It is so wonderful to be welcomed as family by the entire staff from the concierge, Emma, to the bar and waiter staff. The supervisors of the bars and restaurants, Pedro, Ernesto, Abraham, Freddy and Alberto have assembled great teams. The camaraderie and interaction displayed by Willy B., Jorge C., Phillipe, Joaquin, Michael and Luis behind the bars, keep clientele coming back for more. The hustle of the waiters; Marco A., Roberto, Gonzolo, Edgar and Eduardo, etc., ensures that every one of the guests are well cared for. Their smiles and warm greetings go a long way to making our annual stays fantastic. The pool concierge, Lomeli, is always available to assist people pool-side. From arranging towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas to providing fresh towels during the day, he is always there when you need him. And hats off the Chef Luis and his weekly "Chef's Table" dinners. He is doing a great job of bringing in some new dishes while promoting local flavors and we look forward to joining him on our next visit. October 28, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great place to stay Great service provided by Mauricio at the front desk. My room wasn't ready until 8:30 pm. Decided to go have dinner at the hotel restaurant but our first dinner wasn't anything close to what I expected. Mauricio was kind enough to comp our dinner after I mentioned to him that I went there cuz I couldn't get into my room yet. They seemed short staff and food took way too long. I came back for breakfast and dinner and was much better being served by Roberto. At the pool they guys Marco, Joaquin, and Miguel made us laugh a lot. Esther and Francisco at the spa were amazing also. The only thing I was frustrated about was the wifi in the room which seemed pretty slow and hardly worked for me. October 26, 2015

My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a Vow Renewal Wedding Ceremony on the beach followed by dinner at the Westin Lagunamar for our family and friends; all 17 of us from ages 2 to 71. The food at the the Oceana is wonderful and the bartender, William (free Willy) at the Duna Bar is so personable serving every drink with the biggest smile I've ever seen. Rated 3 out of 5 by A few things went wrong on this visit I was a bit disappointed in this trip. We've always been pretty happy on our previous stays. After letting the property know ahead of time that the stay was a celebration of both a 25 and 30 year wedding anniversary, expecting a superior room with superior service and booking this extra room so we could have a 2 bedroom unit for our stay, I was very unhappy from the start. The van from airport claimed to not know our arrival information, (I had confirmation with the details), the rooms were not ready nor were we ever informed that they were ready - they were supposed to call - it was 6:30 pm before we got into the room and that is only because we asked again. The room had a view of palm trees, the elevator was out of commission due to construction and later in the week, they blocked off the stairwell as well. There was construction going on at the pool with tile cutters making loud noise throughout the entire stay. On Thursday, the only day we stayed in our rooms due to the weather, I finally had to complain about the jack hammering which was non-stop all day long. I was offered a room change but we only had one more night to go and I wasn't about to move everything at that point. My family had a do not disturb sign on the door all day and were called to see if they wanted maid service. I guess a do not disturb sign doesn't mean anything anymore. They also called at 10:15 am and told us check out was at 10 am. We were never told that and assumed it was 11. So they were slow to get us in the room but wanted us out really quick. I was not treated as a SPG Gold member should have been treated. I will not let that happen again. I don't usually complain and make fusses but I guess that is the only way to get service any more. The only saving grace was our Concierge. Claudia was exceptional. She arranged our tours and lead us to new and different experiences which we all loved. She was the best staff the Lagunamar had during our stay. October 20, 2015
