New passport flexibility ensures that your summer vacation can proceed as planned.

As of June 8, 2007 U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean who have applied for but not yet received passports can temporarily enter and depart from the United States by air with a government issued photo identification and Department of State official proof of application for a passport through September 30, 2007. For more information about the relaxed restrictions, click here.

If you plan to travel to any of these areas in the coming months and are a U.S. citizen, you should download the passport application to get the process started.

Remember, after September 30 the current passport restrictions will go into full effect: travelers will be required to have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States with all air travel. Learn More »
