Sheraton Diqing Resort
Local Area

Meaning “the place of good luck and happiness” in Tibetan, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is situated in southeast China’s Yunnan Province. In the capital of Shangri-La, a tranquil land filled with spectacular natural wonders and gorgeous scenery, a warm welcome awaits you at Sheraton Diqing Resort. Located on Kang Zhu Boulevard, our urban mountain resort is just steps from Diqing Prefectural Government and Diqing National Administration of Taxation. Driving to downtown takes 5 minutes, and Diqing Shangri-La Airport (DIG) is 10 minutes away.

Explore lofty snow-covered mountains, endless grasslands, majestic canyons, and azure lakes. Three Parallel Rivers—named after the Nujiang, the Jinshajiang, and the Lancangjiang—is a 41,000-square-kilometer UNESCO World Heritage site comprising 15 protected areas in eight geographical clusters. An epicentre of Chinese biodiversity, this protected area is also one of the world’s richest temperate regions.

See the province’s treasured Meili Snow Mountain. Deemed sacred by the Tibetans, it is famous for the magnificence of its main peak; to date, no one has been known to reach its summit. The province’s highest Lake, Bita Hai, boasts flora, fauna, and picturesque landscapes, and the freshwater Shudu Lake is surrounded by pastures and birch and spruce forests. Other noteworthy scenic spots include White Water Terrace, located at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain, and Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world’s deepest river canyons.

In addition to visiting natural wonders, experience Tibetan life and discover fascinating culture, religion, and cuisine. Take a trip to the countryside to visit one of the quaint villages. Another highlight is the famous Songzanlin Monastery. Nicknamed “Little Potala Palace,” since it was built to resemble Lhasa’s Potala Palace, it is the province’s largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, and home to more than 700 monks and lamas.
