Sheraton Beijing West Mountain Resort
Area locale

Dating back three millennia and boasting a variety of culture, Beijing is one of China’s most historic and important cities. Situated in West Mountain Scenic Zone, the Sheraton Beijing West Mountain Resort is located in Sujiatuo Town in Haidian District’s Hou Shan New Area. Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) can be reached by car in under an hour.

Just minutes from the hotel, immerse yourself in nature at Yangtai Mountain Nature Park, Beijing Fenghuagling Nature Park, or Eagle Peak National Forest. For a look into Beijing’s rich history, the Tomb of the Ninth Prince, the Tomb of the Seventh Prince, the West Mountain Dajue Temple, and Xu Ge Zhuang Folk Culture Village are all also nearby. Stroll around the Summer Palace’s serene grounds—this ancient imperial icon is just 30 minutes from the hotel by car.

Head into town to visit Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square; the Forbidden City, China’s best-preserved imperial palace and the world’s largest ancient palatial structure; and the Temple of Heaven, which was built in the 1400s. Walk around Beijing’s hutongs (ancient city lanes) to gain a better appreciation of the city’s history. Take in panoramic views from the top of the CCTV Tower. Or get in the Olympic spirit with a trip to the amazing Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, a marvel of modern design. Take an excursion to visit the Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New7Wonders of the World. Several spots near Beijing allow views of this wall that spans thousands of kilometers.

Shoppers will delight in China’s unique handicrafts, including its famed cloisonné. In addition to the Silk Market, the Dashanzi 798 Art District is filled with modern art galleries, studios, bookstores, and cafés. Savor Beijing’s indigenous Peking duck, which is hung from a hook and roasted over a wood fire. Or sip a delicious cup of Chinese tea in an authentic teahouse.
