Executive Chef Melina Homata
Executive Chef Melina Homata began her culinary training at a young age in her family kitchen, learning secrets of traditional Greek cuisine from her mother and grandmother.
This passion grew into a career when, after finishing culinary school, she spent 15 years in Athens and Thessaloniki cooking and learning all there was to know about gourmet international and Greek cuisine. A trip to Santorini determined her next career step, as she fell in love with the local cuisine and exclusive island products and decided to stay.
For two years, Chef Homata introduced guests of Vedema Resort to Santorini’s exquisite local cuisine and traditional Greek fare. After taking a two year hiatus at the Saint George Lycabettus Hotel in Athens, she returned to Santorini as the Executive Chef of both Vedema Resort and the Mystique Hotel.
Since 2003, she has lead a culinary team—at both properties—that is made up of young and talented cooks eager to learn and pleased to have the opportunity to study under an internationally celebrated chef.
