Guided Cultural Tours

The hotel is pleased to recommend a variety of guided tours that explore the region’s extraordinary history and centuries-old passion for wine making.

Within the immediate vicinity, the Elciego winery is without a doubt the best environment to contemplate the vivid history of Vinos de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal. A 75-minute tour of Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal introduces guests to all the installations and facilities of the winery—and is completed with a fabulous tasting of a glass of Marqués de Riscal Rueda Verdejo white wine (D.O. Rueda), and a glass of Marqués de Riscal Reserva red wine (D.O. Ca. Rioja).

Further afield, there are an abundance of wine routes not to be missed. We suggest exploring the wineries surrounding La Guardia, such as Bodegas Muga, Bodega Marques de Carrion, Finca Valpiedra, CVNE, Viñedos de Paganos, in conjunction with a requisite stop for lunch at one of the delightful traditional local restaurants. All day tours along the Wine Route encompass visits to the Muga Winery, R. Lopez de Heredia Winery, as well as the fascinating wine museum Dinastia Vivanco.

Historical enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to explore the village of La Guardia in depth, by visiting medieval homes, exploring the most ancient parts of the town and afterwards convening at the El Fabulista winery for a guided tour and exceptional wine tasting.

For a day-long excursion, La Rioja beckons. Accompanied by expert guides and wine connoisseurs, guests will explore the most beautiful attractions in the area—from quaint towns and villages steeped in medieval history to the renowned wineries and vineyards that mark the region. A traditional Riojan lunch paired with local vintages provides a delightful midday respite.

All tours may be customized by itinerary and length to best meet the interests and needs of our guests. Please allow our Luxury Collection Concierge to make suggestions and handle all the details. Due to the popularity of these tours, it is strongly recommended that guests make reservations as far in advance as possible.
