Environmental Practices

Le Méridien Koh Samui is committed to a forward-thinking program of environmental sustainability—to protect and preserve the natural beauty and resources of the island of Koh Samui for current and future generations.

Given the natural scarcity of fresh water on the island, Le Méridien Koh Samui has actively planted a dense garden landscape that supports the rich underground water level for generations to come. Furthermore, the hotel recycles water used by guests in the gardens throughout the resort. To conserve energy use, all of the light displays throughout the hotel use LED technology, augmented by traditional means such low-impact lanterns and candles.

Energy & Water Conservation:

  • Occupancy sensors
  • Smart irrigation practices
  • Regular preventive maintenance

Waste Minimization & Environmentally Responsible Purchasing:

  • Recycling
  • Dumpster monitoring
  • Organic waste composting
  • Environmentally preferred suppliers
  • Environmentally preferred products

Enhanced Indoor Environmental Quality:

  • Integrated pest management practices
  • Low-emitting materials, such as paints, flooring and furniture

Shoreline Enhancement Project:

  • Installation of 44 reef modules to create an inspiring lagoon around the tip of the ocean pier
  • Transfer of live coral into the reef modules to protect them from damage
  • A fun, educational swimming and snorkeling area for guests
