An Exciting History
Construction of the Sheraton Fiji Resort began in the mid 1980s. The resort officially opened on 20 November 1987, going on to become the second five-star resort on Denarau Island. In 1996, ITT Sheraton, then-owner of the resort, was acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. The resort has hosted many high profile visits to Fiji since its opening. The likes of British royalty, Hollywood stars, business moguls, famous musicians, sports personalities and authors have all paid memorable visits here.
In May 2008, Sheraton Fiji Resort underwent an extensive six-month, US$22 million refurbishment. This all-encompassing refurbishment created a stunning new look for the resort, comprising significant upgrades to guest accommodations, restaurants and bars, as well as the introduction of new recreational facilities. The centrepiece of the resort is the 1,200-square-metre, lagoon-style swimming pool. Revitalised guest accommodations reflect the essence of the Pacific style while emphasising guest comfort. New-look restaurant and entertainment concepts include Feast, a vibrant new buffet restaurant featuring tantalising dishes from around the world, while the renowned Ports O' Call continues serving its beloved classics in signature style with a luxurious themed makeover.
As a result of this very successful refurbishment project, it is expected that Sheraton Fiji Resort will retain its reputation as a leader in the family, conference and incentive markets, appealing to travellers with its engaging, interactive atmosphere, superior service, and signature amenities.
