Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand
Hotel History

The chic and contemporary Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand represents the culmination of work by the renowned architectural firm, Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo. Nestled along the Mae Kok River, the resort is framed by two symbolic 100 year-old rain trees preserved that provide it with a unique identity. On the opposite river bank from the resort, a monastery provides a cultural link to Thailand, where Buddhism is the dominant religion. Legend holds that a giant serpent, known as Naga in Thailand, dwells in the river protecting the surrounding areas from evil spirits. Such legends reflect the rich history and tradition of Chiang Rai which was once the capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom that included Burma and Laos.
