Rated 4 out of 5 by JackWalker63 Our stay at Le Meridien, Nice
It was very nice. When I originally tried to book a room and use my SPG points they wouldn't allow it. When I checked in, they would allow me to upgrade, for money but not SPG points. Everything about the hotel was very nice except that the bathroom smelled. I maid came up and scrubbed, and got everything clean but the smell persisted. I think it has something to do with the Bidet not being used very much. Plumbing needs to be used or it starts to smell. The issue never got resolved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by StanF Great location and staff.
Le Meridien is in walking distance to most everything in Nice. The staff were personable and accommodating. The rooms are very modern but the bath tub is old fashioned and very high making it challenging for a short person or older person to get into or out of. Both restaurants had good food and service and spectacular views of the med. Cruise passengers should be warned that the rooms provided for cruise guests are mediocre at best and that you will be strongly encouraged by reservations staff to upgrade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Marilyn57 Good Location in Nice
As a Viking Cruise Extended Stay visitor I was very happy with the location. Room was very dark, difficulty with electricity in the mini-bar console was not fixed when ask, coffee was never hot and there was no elevator to the main floor. My concerns are fixable if you truly want to improve.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Wennor Exellent location!
This hotel has a very good location.
5 min from the old town and 1 min from the beach.
very nice roof top terrace, restaurant and bar.
Nice spacious and very clean room!! And chambermades came in and made our two single beds in to a double bed just after we arrived.
Breakfast nothing special, but had all you needed like cereals, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, bread, croissants, juice and coffee/tea.
Some noice could be heard throughout the evenings/nights. But could well be cause we were on the 9th floor directly below the pool and bar-area on the roof.
Helpfull and friendly staff at reception and concierge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Krissie Upgrade or don't go
The classic rooms in this hotel are subpar to say the least. They do not seem to be featured accurately on the web site. If you are redeeming points, the confirmation email you get will give you a chance to upgrade. TAKE IT. And hope you get a further upgrade upon check in assuming you have some kind of status with SPG. In the two rooms I was in (1 classic inside room, 1 Superior room with a balcony) neither even had a pen! I find that so odd. Let alone a tea kettle which is one thing we very much enjoy. Maybe I could of requested one. I didn't ask. The roof top terrace is beautiful but very small. No lounge chairs to lay in the sun. I assume they want you to use their private beach.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spb2nyc Very nice hotel (avoid beach)
Rest 5 days here. Nice hotel with sea views. Would to return again.
Hotel has two beaches - private for 20 euros pp per day and public without amenities. Sea was cold coz of flowing river and sometimes dirty. I can't recommend to swim there.
Hotel's swimming pool is small (and I saw dirty walls there). Once day we got stuck in elevator but hotel team fixed that problem quickly.
Location - close to historical and shopping areas, 8 km from airport, 2 km from train station.
Hotels reception on 2nd level. 1st floor of this building with separate entrance occupies McDonalds. Not such a luxury neighbor :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by Brandaide Place Needs Rehab Badly
Perhaps my expectations were too high, I mean the card rate of 350 euros for an inside no view standard room is not Motel 6. However the room felt like that's where I was. Purple paint trim was chipping and peeling-a lot. Red wooden night stand had three big chips and dings, and the marble in the bath was cracked at the sink. This is not a 5 star hotel. Gym is marginal, no towels.
I stayed in 4 other hotels during a two week period. NONE of them charge for Internet in the room. This was 22 euros for 24 hours.
18 euros for a caesar salad. That's $23!
This hotel is not even close to SPG standards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SeekingAGetAway Stuck in the 80s
This hotel is stuck in the 80s, in terms of service, location, quality, decor, and amenities. I'd highly recommend you find another place to stay for the following reasons (all drawn from my experience staying there in July 2013):
1) This is by far the lowest-class location in the riviera. Feels like Atlantic City on a bad day.
2) This hotel has only partly been redone (rooms are okay), which has left the hallways and spa / fitness center disgraceful.
3) Service was well below expectation, largely because they failed to accommodate a later than expected cancellation (costing me significantly) -- despite the fact that I have frequently been able to make late cancellations in the past.

All in all it is a very nice hotel even though we were as far away from the elevator as you could go. We did appreciate the central location. It was great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Eiffel456 Avoid !
Sorry but this hotel should not be associated with the Meridien chain or the starwood brand. We couldn't believe how tired and worn the hotel was but the most disappointing factor was the attitude of the staff. The front staff discussed our room location in Italian so we couldn't understand what they were saying to each other (we do speak French), room service laughed at my husband's French (we are Canadian and our accent is different), the bartender refused to give my husband a small amount of milk for tea....told him to call room service. Signs were posted all through the hotel telling you what you couldn't do. On top of that there was a terrible smell that permeated through the halls and rooms. It was probably the worst hotel stay we have in years!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jonnyboy Well below expectations
A little tired and well below the usual excellent standards for Le Meridien.
Have never encountered such a fiasco trying to get reception to print off a boarding pass. Didn't have time to go to the business centre, the front desk staff seemed insistant I should. Ended up having to go to the front desk, go behind it and show them how simple it was to print, not impressed and wasted a lot of my time

Rated 1 out of 5 by TW27 Overpriced and distinctly average
You pay for the view and location; rooms are small. Staff is bordering on the rude (lady at reception was almost rolling her eyes at me and breakfast staff were miserable; they also informed us at 10.30 on a Sunday that "buffet now closed" and immediately started to clear plates away - including the ones we were still eating from!
Wifi is an additional whopping €38 for 72 hours. Shocking when you consider that the room rate is valued at €698.
Roof top pool is minuscule, worn and dirty.
Staff make no effort to make you feel welcome.
Would not stay there again, neither on business or leisure

Rated 4 out of 5 by DHL2014 short stay
We had an very good stay at the Meridien Nice, hotel staff, breakfast and the food/service in the Terrasse restaurant were excellent. The only significant problem was the noise of the concerts in the adjacent park - which was excessive for all the nights we stayed at the hotel. We appreciate this is beyond the control of the hotel, but will influence our decision whether or not to stay at the hotel in future.
It was also disappointing that there was nowhere to relax around the pool, and that the staff at the affiliated beach were so rude.
The bathroom also needed upgrading.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tdw2012 Good place to stay when vacating in Nice
Before we booked, we were concerned at some of the negative guest comments but we were only in Nice for one night so we took the chance. How grateful we were that we did.
The hotel is at the waterfront (stone beach) and very close to a great range of shopping, restaurants/bars and nightclubs if you have the stamina.
In summary, the staff were brilliant from the moment we pulled up at the front door to the moment we drove away. The room itself was small and didn't have a work desk so don't think of this as a typical business hotel. However, the view from the very generous balcony was spectacular, the bed was very comfortable and everything worked.
This was a really good experience and we recommend the hotel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cargirl1 Meet all of our needs and expectations.
We needed a hotel near downtown Nice and within walking distance of all the sights. We also wanted comfort and amenities. The Le Meridien and its staff meet all our needs. Thank you for a wonderful stay and a wonderful staff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by randomnick12432453 Terrible Customer Service
Some staff members appeared distracted/disinterested, especially around the time that their shift was about to end. They rushed through the check-in process and didn't bother to check for room availability for upgrade. Had to request from the staff on the later shift before I was upgraded. Lower room levels smell of smoke and are dirty. SPG room level was better maintained. Location is great, but that's the only thing going for this hotel. Witnessed the duty-manager callously brush off an American tourist in full view of other guests (her reservation through a third party website was not received by the hotel, and he basically said it's not the hotel's problem). His attitude was "I don't give a XXXX, take it or leave it".

Overlooking the beautiful ocean, with rooftop pool and restaurant. An amazing way to spend the afternoon. Our room was amazing with a large terrace facing the ocean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BIGStarwoodTRIP2012 Better service this time
This time was different it seems that once a while this hotel treats its platinum member nicely.
1st stay about 5-6 weeks ago it was nice
2nd stay terrible room wasn't ready no platinum amenity
Last stay nice welcome letter and some treats, nice again
Facility still in need of maintenance, breakfast area ceiling is leaking water, area around it smells like mildew (wet carpet). Exact location, it's right by the smoked salmon platter. Look above the ceiling.
staff over the phone when you need something, expect terrible full of excuse response.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NJ1969 This hotel is overpriced with poor customer service
For the price paid, this hotel was a disaster. The room was tiny and overlooked a small courtyard in which clothes were drying. It felt like a jail cell. And was as large as one. I feel cheated and dissapointed with my choice of hotel and will never stay at a hotel like that again .Even though when I booked my room I stated I was newly married and on my honey moon, your hotel staff couldn't care less and gave me what must have been the worst room in the hotel . When I requested a change, they said they would get back - but never did. The service and attitude was dissapointing. The only rooms worth booking in this hotel are SEA FACING - and they're exorbitantly priced. Other rooms take if you have absolutely nowhere else to go.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed Hotel old, hallways smell
Lobby area ok, although supposed free lobby wifi didn't work on my ipad most of the time. Restaurant good breakfast but limited choices for a 6:00 pm dinner. For instance you couldn't even order a chicken breast dinner till after 7:00 pm....just Caesar salad, or hamburger type of food. At checkin when I asked for a possible upgrade, no offer of anything, just no. Rooms were old , door hard to open, creaked and white stuff fell from above, on my head. The hallways smelt of smoke and mildew I think. I checked other floors and they had the same bad odor. The actual room didn't smell but the walk down the hallways was disgusting. This the worse Starwood I have ever stayed in. Only thing going for it is the location and that is 4 star.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MoRe Price doesn't always reflect comfort
One of the most expensive hotels in Nice, Le Meridien is in a great location and should be a great hotel. However, be wary, it's a very noisy location, sleep before at midnight on the lower floors in premium rooms is impossible. Rooms are dysfunctional, no drawers for personal items, no irons/ironing boards, no coffee/tea in room. No desk if you're on business. Starwood Gold not recognized, amenities had to be requested...several times without success. Terrace bar/restaurant was excellent, great food. Only redeeming quality in my opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Loulou Excellent hotel
This hotel is in a prime location overlooking the sea and the park to the side . We stayed for 3 days. We had dinner in the colonial restaurant on Saturday night overlooking the seafront. The food and drink is a bit on the expensive side but our meals were excellent. Also we received a complementary starter and a liqueur after our meal! All the staff from the receptionists to the bar and restaurant staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out if their way to assist in any way they could. Would highly recommend this hotel

Rated 3 out of 5 by Coll25 Great location but guestrooms need significant improvement
The location of Le Meridien is excellent, La terrasse and the food is excellent however the guestrooms are seriously in need of rennovation. I have just had a group of 30 delegates staying there in standard rooms. Costs are not cheap yet the plumbing is not great, bath tubs with peeled enamel, shower curtains which need replacing, water stains in corridors. The best place to remain was in bed as the linen was good. Meeting staff were also very good and we would like to return but not for the guestrooms which will be real issue next time round.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed Private good, public tired
The location of the hotel is great - it could not be more central. Also, our sea facing room with 'standing balcony' was very nice - modern decor and views from bed which made me want to stay in bed all day!
However, the public areas are in need of serious upgrade. The whole public area smelt all weekend - deep frying in the lifts, chemicals on the 5th floor and rotting rubbish in the lobby. Mix this with very tired and outdated decor and staff who at best were indifferent and overall my impression of the hotel did not meet Medidian standards

Rated 4 out of 5 by Danno Room with a View
Le Meridien Nice is centrally located and convenient to the beach, the old village and public transportation (buses to Cannes and to St. Paul de Vence are literally across the street; the streetcar/ tram is just several blocks away).
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with everything from restaurant reservations to explaining the best way to get to local and regional attractions.
Our direct sea view room provided amazing vistas of the mesmerizingly blue Mediterranean. The bed was quite comfortable and room extremely clean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gatorsrule Not a very good Hotel and staff don't care SPG status
Hotel is well located near beaches, old city, and main attractions... Local access to restaurants and local transportation is very good... hotel does not have parking, but there is a lot with access to the Hotel... Rooms are old and dirty... Our bathroom had mold and was dirty, brought it to the attention of staff and no action even thou we are Gold Members.... Said Hotel was sold out, but were trying to sell upgrades to other clients... Manager never acknowledge the problem....

Rated 4 out of 5 by Schan725 Enjoyed a wonderful stay in Cote d' Azur
Travelled with my family to Nice, France and booked two rooms at the Le Meridien. I was upgraded for both rooms to ocean view rooms. The pool is quite small, but if you're in Cote D Azur you have the whole sea to enjoy. The drinks at the rooftop were strong and I suggest to enjoy the sunset. If you plan on spending time there, make sure to make reservations in advanced. The room was modern and I had no problems with my stay. The staff was extremely helpful and made great recommendations on places to eat nearby. Will be back again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Vacationer14 Great Location
Breathtaking view from the roof top pool. Pool was very well maintained and water temperature was perfect. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Hotel located right across the street from the ocean. However, staff wasn't willing to give us a free upgrade recognizing the Starwood corporate membership even though they had plenty of rooms unoccupied so that was disappointing. We had been to other Le Meridian elsewhere and was given free upgrade because of the membership. Other than that, everything was good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lulu04 Great hotel. Great staff, great location. Great food.
Great location, loved to sit on the balcony on the 7th floor. amazing view of the sea, the harbor and the old city. Executive room, Huge bed, very comfortable big pillows. Great , friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic with large variety of choices. Also the Terrace restaurant was great, although a bit expensive the food was fantastic!! Compliments to the chef!!!
No babysitting service, and no activities for children except the pool on the roof which our daughter loved.
We are looking forward to visiting again.
