Rated 3 out of 5 by Andreas70 Gute Lage - suboptimales Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis

We stayed for 6 nights in this property, for our honeymoon. We had booked it 2 month before via my Starwood ambassador, and also used my suite night awards for upgrading into a suite hotel room. My ambassador also told them that it is our honeymoon, and updated the Starwood internal profile with my photo, for proper recognition of my Platinum status.
One day before we arrived I was emailed that finally there was no possibility to upgrade us into a suite. However, cancellation of our stay was also not possible, as cancellation deadline was even seven days before arrival. As we arrived, the reception agent D. told us that the hotel would be still busy booked, so that we will receive a garden view room with terrace, at the best room available. Notably, out of the 252 rooms only 18 are not facing the ocean. This was very disappointing to hear, as this was not I had planned for our honeymoon. Also, in comparison with the stay in an SPG property in Maui directly before, they gave a very nice honeymoon upgrade with the SPG suite night awards, at only 60 % of the SPG points.
The room itself was OK, but nothing stunning. Two things which where not thoughtful:
- as one (at least the guests before us had) can leave the terrace doors open during rain, the last feet of the carpet in front of the windows are soaking wet.
- there is a window between bedroom and bathroom. This might be nice when you want to see mountains/ocean when showering or when you are happy to show your body when showering for nearby pool guests. However, the privacy function of this window is only able to blur the view, but not to eliminate the lights. So, you will wake up every other person in your room when you go to toilet during the night.
The hotel property and facilities are quite nice, taken into account the hotel was built 27 years ago as a big chunk of concrete into a beautiful bay.
For breakfast, we wanted to make use of the welcome amenity "Continental breakfast". This is - opposite to other SPG hotels, not offered as a (limited) buffet, but as a platter. This platter does NOT include any fruit, as it did in any other SPG hotel I had stayed at before. If you can get further tea, juice or pastries, is your good/bad luck, depending on the waiter assigned to you. Alternatively, one could upgrade for 20$ to buffet. To mention, that according to menu buffet costs only 15$ more (34$ instead 19$)... Also, at one day we could not make the breakfast, as we had to leave early for an activity. We asked reception if they could pack us a lunch packet instead. After 3 people discussing this, the answer was "NO", as we are Platinum SPG members. Also simply packing the breakfast into a box was not possible. Finally, they offered a 15$ credit - remember according to menu it was priced 19$.
Plenty pool chairs are available, but sun umbrellas are limited. Personnel was not delighted to help with getting shade, even though many unattended chairs with towels on, but no one around and umbrella not even opened. Pool is nice and clean, but I would not consider this an infinity (view) pool.
Guest services perform below expectations, even for standard tasks. Having to get up early, we asked for a wake-up call at 5am. We have been called at 5:08am. Reason was: "Sorry, I had to call other guests before"... I then asked to have the car ready very quickly, as now we were already really late. She offered to have it ready within the next five minutes - standard claimed retrieval time is 10 minutes; but it even lasted 12 minutes to have it ready. The valet then wanted even tip.
Room service did not service our room before 2:30 pm.
Internet - even the speedy option - is extremely slow.
The German texts on the St. Regis Priceville website are outdated (Internet options, room types) and have also other errors concerning room amenities.
All in all, we had the impression as if we are not honored guests. As others already wrote, his might be due to the reason that we used SPG points instead of real $ spent. We simply lacked the hospitality and the service in this place. I would have expected that St. Regis would be better than my other ~150 hotel nights/year, but this hotel has proven the opposite. Unfortunately, there is no second honeymoon.

We had a great time. We travel "stand by" on United Airlines and were glad MayRose was able to accommodate our last minute reservations and allowed us to visit a couple of rooms. We loved the staff and our experience.
Provide the possibility to make tea in the room.
Windows with no tint but shades instead (too dark in the room when windows closed).
Change morning buffet setting so the hot dishes can stay hot. The absence of covers plus the use of small heating elements are inadequate to keep anything warm, much less hot. Hot plates would help too.
Other than that, fantastic place and people. We will be back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BonnieS We loved this hotel
Our concierge (Kate Krieg) was wonderful. She reached out to me via email in advance of our stay to ask for details about our stay. I mentioned that we were on our babymoon and asked for a complimentary upgrade to an ocean view room -- and she gave it to us when we arrived at check-in! In addition, they delivered complimentary apple cider and pregnancy lotion to our room after we checked in. So sweet!
My husband and I had a romantic few days at this hotel and were able to do challeging hikes into the Na Pali coast, drive to views of the Waimea Canyon, and have some relaxation time in the pool area with a *beautiful* view. We thought the hotel staff and service were excellent and will definitely be coming back!

This is a beautiful hotel, situated on an incredibly beautiful site. Staff is helpful and friendly, and almost all needs can be met on hotel grounds, if desired. Hope we can stay there again.
