Overall a very nice resort and very clean and comfortable.
Mixed Drink have very little alcohol in them as they do not measure their drink--they just pour and so they all end up weak--pretty poor for a top end place . When you pay $8.50 drink, it should have the appropriate amount of alcohol. You could learn from the Cruise industry.
Poolside menus need more options, especially for those trying to diet and control weight.

As an SPG Gold member, we were treated like royalty. Our room was automatically upgraded to a top floor ocean view. I mentioned at check in that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the lovely receptionist sent a bottle of champagne and fruit/cheese platter to our room. SPG is the best!

I had read some mixed reviews of this property, but then I read that the hotel would be done with the renovations by May. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The upgrades were well done and the hotel almost looks brand new. Our room was well appointed and very clean. Maid service was also very good.
Two issues - there aren't enough activities on the resort and there is a $20/day resort fee! There are no tennis courts, basketball court or golf course. It had great access to a nice well kept beach and the pools were very well maintained and not at all dirty. But that was about all there was to do there.
The other issue seems to be staffing. They are either very busy in mid-May, transitioning to a summer staff or they are just understaffed. I have a feeling Hilton Head Island has a small workforce so maybe there isn't much they can do about it.

Beautifully renovated!!! I've been coming to this hotel for several years, but it was looking a bit run down. In the last 2 years, staying at the resort meant having to put up with the renovations. I'm so glad the refurb. project is complete. The resort looks brand new. The rooms and pools look awesome. The resort is absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to come back.

As a long time Westin owner, we found this hotel to be below par to what we have experienced at other Westin hotels. We did reserve a room later than we usually do, however, our ocean view room had a nice view of the trees, that is when the sliding door was opened. Looked like the sliding doors had not been washed in months. We had a nice dinner at the "Oceans" but were charged twice, once at the Oceans and the other for a dinner at another location in the hotel. When the desk checked the original receipt, the number was not the same nor was the name or signature. We were given a $15 drink gift when we checked in. We used this at the bar that evening. Upon check out, we found that it was was not honored. Two errors on one bill, not good. I usually do not go to the desk to check out, I'm sure glad I did and took a good look at the bill before we left. This was our 40th anniversary and will remember it well.

We were there for a business conference and booked two extra nights for a personal getaway. The Room was great and the pool area was very nice. It was cool during our stay but we found the undercover pool was heated to a level that made it comfortable to swim even when the temperatures dropped into the 50's.
No matter what the temperature was it was always a perfect time to walk on the beach. We never failed to see dolphins and pelicans and we always found at least one special sea shell for a souvenir. The water was perfect for wading in especially since most of the time we were there the water was warmer than the air.
We ate at the Catalina restaurant twice and rated the food and service as excellent. As with all resorts the prices were a little high for what you got but we've come to expect that when staying at a resort spa facility.
Now the food that we had during the business conference was not as good. We found it to be limited in choice and, for the most part, not prepared well.
My only complaint about the facility was that there were numerous maintenance issues in the public areas. Doors that were beat up and needed to be painted, loose trim pieces and such. We work in the decorating/ paint trade and maybe these things are just more apparent to us.
Over all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

We had a wonderful time at Westin and will return. The only complaint we had was the $20 daily charge for the shuttle. There's no problem with the charge but when we tried to use it, we were told by the driver that the mall had been torn down, that we couldn't use the shuttle for anything else other than to play golf and tennis and that if we used it, he couldn't pick us up. It was late in the afternoon so that we understood. It was probably quitting time. Bu if he took us anywhere, we'd have to take a taxi to get back. We thought he was not only rude, but there was a communication problem somewhere. We never specified which mall we were wanting to go to but it was our undestanding that there was one nearby. We had teen girls who love to shop and were disappointed. Needless to say, we wound up driving everywhere. If we pay for a service, then the service should be available. Thanks

We recently spent 10 days at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort. Having stayed there many times before we thought that the renovations were fantastic! The friendliness and responsiveness of the staff is always outstanding. In particular, Eric who always goes out of his way to make sure that we are having a great vacation. We are already looking forward to our return trip to the Westin HHI Resort!

We had issues with the air conditional for three days. First 2 days the air did not work, it took 2 attempts to resolve the problem. Then for the 3rd day the room was at 63! Heater was not working. Service had to come back a 3rd time and replace additional items.
We also had to call the front desk for towels, paper cups. Items that a Hampton Inn would provide. Overall not at all satisfied with the property.

The door to the bathroom jammed when I went in at 2 AM. Luckily i was not alone and someone was able to call for maintenance.
I shudder to think of what would have happened if I was alone.
The safe in the room did not work so I was forced to take all valuables with me wherever I went.

The Westin HHI Resort has been completely redone. The results are just spectacular. The rooms have this modern but not over the top look. We entered the room with music playing, accent lighting over the bed and in the bath. The shower has a rain style shower head. There is a I'm guessing a 42 in TV on the dresser. A sliding glass door leads out to a patio over looking the pools and a great view of the ocean.
The staff are friendly and helpful . Everyone takes a moment to say hi and to see if we need something.
The grounds between the hotel "wings" are 4 pools and decking surrounded by trees, plants and flowers. There is a short walkway to the ocean it's all just beautiful .
If there is something that is not 5 stars it's the cell reception. We had to work hard to find spots where our phones worked.
Overall I would highly recommend this resort it was one of the best we have been to.

We were treated with professional promptness and friendliness every time we had a question. The room more than met our expectation. The hotel comfortable, clean with a great staff. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The Westin Hilton Head Resort is just a fantastic property. We had stayed prior to the recent renovations and their is no comparison. It was great before, but is now awesome. The rooms, facilities, spa and staff are all top notch. Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in a quiet and private environment.

The management of this icon of Hilton Head Island have remodeled every aspect of this spacious hotel and left no stone unturned. The outstanding location of this property on a massive stretch of wide-open beach make this a great spot for a getaway or family vacation. As always, staff continue to be most accommodating and friendly adding to the pleasure of the experience.

The hotel and staff were great. Even the housekeeping staff made a point to greet with me in the hallway and wish me safe travels home. My room was immaculately clean and fresh. The ocean view was an added bonus. Only wish I could have stayed longer.

The staff at the front desk were either not properly trained or just had a bad attitude. They provided no information unless asked and were very rude. This was the worst check in experiance i have ever had.
The rest of the hotel staff was better but its hard to enjoy a stay after the check in experiance.

This hotel if family friendly and has great features for the whole family. Bikes are available, pools, outdoor activities, shopping, tours, golf and much more. We have made this our anniversary getaway and plan to return in 2014 .

This resort has been amazing for years. The renovations transformed the resort into a beautiful and relaxing resort. few problems with bugs made this year not as enjoyable as past years. I recommend eating out at restraunts. Overall this resort is beautiful and can be great for familes and couples to relax.

Wonderful property with really nice rooms, friendly staff-especially those tied to the kids club. Great choice between multiple pools and the ocean. Many kids activities such as ping pong, movies, crafts etc. We were disappointed that the managment removed the basketball net from the covered pool. The boys REALLY missed it this year.

One of the best resort experiences we have had. If we thought of a need the staff was there to not just meet but exceed expectations. The deck is the best. We stayed at the resort more than we intended just because it was so much fun. Can't wait to go back next year. S'mores and star gazing on the deck in the evening was such a special touch.

Staff: Very friendly.
Food: Only ate at the pool, but pretty good.
Bar: Big establishment with a below average bar for those looking for a nightcap. Not updated. Poor audio. No bar near the front foyer. It's tucked in the back of the property.
Room Service: $30 for a burger and coke. Ehhh.
Cell Service: Brutal for AT&T customers, but there's no towers so not Westin's fault. I did have to make a business call from my room phone and they credited back the $40 phone charge ($8/min otherwise).
Transportation: Very close to the HHI airport and they don't have any shuttle service to get you there and back. Being so close, that'd be a great added service.
Hotel Activities: Paid to do paddle boarding -- It was extremely windy and my entire group quite after 20 minutes. Still charged us for the whole hour. Jet skis would be a great addition.
Overall: For the price of the room, definitely room for improvement. Will definitely try one of the other resorts on next visit to compare.

THE HOTEL IS AWESOME. THE POOL AND DECK AREA ARE AMONG THE BEST YOU WILL SEE. THE STAFF IS SUPER HELPFUL. HOWEVER, WHEN ARE RESORTS LIKE THIS GOING TO REALIZE THAT JUST BECAUSE WE CAN PAY ABSURD PRICES FOR DRINKS AND FOOD THAT IT IS ROBBERY TO CHARGE $8.50 FOR A BOWL OF YOGURT AND $12 FOR POOL DRINKS!! RIDICULOUS.

My experience at the hotel held too great a level of variability to earn a higher rating and for me to engage in positive WOM.
Upon check-in, I found that the room to which I was assigned did not have cell phone coverage. Upon returning to the front desk, Kristyn asked if I had AT&T service and informed me that AT&T did not have good coverage in the hotel. Upon my insistence that this presented a hardship, Kristin (to her credit) attempted to find me a room on a higher floor. I hiked the 4-minute trip to the room on the 5th floor to discover that the key did not work. After trekking back to the front desk and waiting in line for 15 minutes, Kristyn gave me another key to a different room and assured me that, if that key did not work she would bring me another key if I called from the house phone. I trekked another 4 minutes to the second room only to find that the second key did not work. The call front desk connected with Stacy, who told me that Kristyn was busy, but I could speak with Kaitlin. I explained the whole thing to Kaitlin who said she would bring new keys in a "few minutes". Five minutes later I called from the house phone again. After explaining the whole thing to Stacy (third explanation), Stacy assured me she would send a bell man up with the key right away. After another 5 minutes of waiting in the hallway, I called from the house phone yet again and asked to speak with the manager on duty to file a complaining. After another 1.5 minute wait, Stacy came onto the line and told me that the manager, Kaitlyn, was busy with a guest (as if I was not) and could she call me back. I informed Stacy of what I am sure she already knew, that she could not call me back because I was still stuck in the hallway calling from a house phone. I told Stacy not to worry that I would come to the front desk and would make my next call to Westin HQ.
The only thing that kept me from complaining directly to Westin HQ was that a wonderful woman named Pauline (from housekeeping) came to remove the feather-filled products from the room. Pauline was a true delight and full of positive energy. She took care of the room and (although she did not ask for details) encouraged me to put the bad experience behind me and enjoy my stay.
Pauline understood what your front desk staff did not. She understood that service recovery must take place IMMEDIATELY and must be profound. It must overwhelm the negatively disconfirming information from the poor customer service experience so that customer satisfaction is preserved. This is why Pauline's immediate attempts to "restart" my stay were much more effective than the very lovely, but untimely fruit plate and wine that Kristyn (but not Kaitlin, the manager) sent to my room the next day with a note of apology.
Better is training is needed at the front desk of this hotel. If a guest will be assigned to one of the rooms with poor cell coverage, it would take only moments to ask if AT&T is the service provider. More importantly, it is unconscionable that a guest would be left stranded in a hallway for any more time than that required to RUN a replacement key to the individual.

We've stayed at this hotel in the past. The renovations recently made at the Westin made the stay even more enjoyable. Every member of the entire staff that we dealt with are the most friendliest and pleasant staffs around. Especially Daniel! We're planning on making this hotel a frequent stop for all future vacation plans!

our purpose for coming there was to get married on the beach, so we wanted the stay to be special. the room was nice, facilities were nice. everyone said hello. overall it was a great stay and worth coming back. The hotel was beautiful, the food in the restaurants was good, but the thing that stood out to us was the staff. They were so friendly and always very accommodating. I don't usually write reviews of our Westin visits, but felt I had to after this enjoyable experience.
