Rated 3 out of 5 by PEstefania Not the Westin Experience that I have come to expect and know
Don't get me wrong the hotel is "OK" however as a Platinum Member it left much to be desired as an experience. It has no personal touch and the stay was not memorable.
The rooms are clean and large, however there is really no recognition as a Platinum Member. Yes you get the Internet for free and you get lounge access but you know...you also get that at the Sheraton as well as Platinum.
The lounge is kind of a waste, nothing wow. There offerings are very scarce and a bit useless.
The beaches are ok however the property is located away from downtown. Expect to pay about $13 dollar or so for a cab...back and forth. It's located far from town...so expect 15 minutes or so cab ride.
As for the beach...well there is one at the hotel; however it is small and very rocky...
I don't think that the Managers at the property understand what SPG Platinum should be and how to manage it. There is no recognition from the staff other than would you like you 500 points for your stay?
Again not a bad stay but not a great one it was just bland. For a vacation in Mexico you expect to have a wow factor and a memorable stay...this is not the place to get it.
Would I stay here again...not sure. I think the sister SPG property down the road and closer to town my be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DONRO Great Hotel
Wonderful staff. Friendly and helpful. The breakfast was so nice and we especially enjoyed the cocktail/dinner hour that the hotel provided. Bus was across the street and so easy to get around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ik58 Great vacation destination
Just came back from Puerto Vallarta. We had a great time at the Westin. The staff was friendly, the rooms are large, the hotel is beautiful and well preserved. The club lounge is really unique: excellent breakfast at the bar, and drinks and appetizers at the spacious lounge in the afternoons. The hotel is walking distance to Marina Vallarta, that has a lot of restaurants, but mostly on the touristy side. The authentic Mexican food is downtown, which is a 20 minute taxi/bus ride away. The one inconvenience (although my stay was a vacation, so I should not be complaining) is that the internet provider blocks access to VPN so I could not connect with work. Hopefully that gets fixed for next year, as I am really looking forward to another vacation at the Westin in Puerto Vallarta.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Sdtraveler13 Expected more from Westin
Room smelled moldy. Pool was cold, jacuzzi had no heat. Food was average. It was an average place to stay but I expected a little bit of luxury

Rated 2 out of 5 by babs33 Very Disappointing
This hotel at one time was lovely, but it badly needs a renovation. Upon arrival, we were given a pool view room even though our reservation "guaranteed" a partial ocean view room. The room had two broken lamps, and there were stains on the furniture and shades. The furniture was old and out-dated. There were very few English TV stations available.
Due to a dispute with a timeshare property, there is an ugly green fence across the middle of the property. Hotel guests cannot get to the adult pools due to the fence and are forced to use only childrens' pools on the hotel property. Very unsatisfactory.
The tennis courts are in deplorable condition. Of the three courts, one is totally unplayable, and a second court has a worn spot on the carpet surface that could lead to serious injury. The nets are worn out and ripped, and all the latches on the fence doors are broken. Despite this poor situation, the hotel still charges guest $15/hour for day time use of the courts. A rip-off!
The restaurant has an over-priced breakfast buffet, and only 4 entrees for lunch and no sandwich offerings. The food is fair at best and the pre-printed menu never varies.
Honestly, this hotel should be closed for total renovation or leave the Westin system. The situation with the pools should be resolved so that guests are not fenced in behind an ugly green "Berlin Wall" and denied use of the adult pools. Avoid this property until these issues are resolved and stay at the Sheraton instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jorchm Nice SPG Property in Puerto Vallarta
Had been staying in this hotel for the last three times and haven't been disappointed of it. Throughout my stays I've learned some hints that make future stays more comfortable and get more for what you pay. It is a nice hotel in Puerto Vallarta, it is truly not the most modern and updated, but it is kept in good shape enough to guarantee the comfort of the guests. The Hotel is located in the Marina Vallarta section, next to the cruise terminal and 5 minutes away from the airport and downtown Puerto Vallarta. The beachfront is one of the best in Puerto Vallarta. The swimming pool and the gardens are gorgeous, with plenty of room and well-kept furnishings.
This property is definitely an excellent choice if you are using Free Night Awards or Cash & Points. A good thing to do is also to take the option that the hotel offers after booking or at check-in which is the upgrade to the Royal Beach Club section. The difference for the upgrade worth it with the amount of money you save by having breakfast and lunches at the lounge. Also, not less important to mention that the service and the ambiance of the lounge is excellent. Another good thing about the RBC is that the rooms are located on the higher floors, therefore are less noisy than the lower ones. The rooms and suites with Jacuzzi tubs in the top floors are the best. Perfect for relaxing and have amazing sunset views.
Theme nights at the restaurants are nice. Don't miss the "Mexican" night which offers an exciting and wide buffet of Mexican food. They also have live "mariachi" or "trio" music playing at some nights.
The Westin has also an "All-Inclusive" option which is good in case you don't want to get out from the hotel. A little bit pricey, but again it's worth if you plan to have all your meals and unlimited drinks at the hotel.
