Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed after almost 3 months of lodging here. I was looking forward to staying at the resort while working on a business project in Phoenix/Tempe. I stayed M-W/Th almost every week from late May thru mid-August. Every week, I had to call for engineering support for broken toilet, sink plugs that didn't work (I wear contacts), shower mechanisms that didn't work right, and water bottle replacement that didn't even get replaced by the time I got back. Mind you, it was the hottest time of year - temps ranged from 105 - 119 deg F!!! Water is pretty important. One time I couldn't find the TV remote...until I went to bed. They had made up the bed over it!! When I pointed out these things week after week, especially about the water, I was placated with apologies, but not much changed. To top it off, I found out they weren't cataloging my SPG points, so I had to dog those. I also wasn't fully informed about how the Green program points were cataloged and had to reinstate about 4,000 points. On a good note, the cafe on the main floor was great and the granola made by one of the restaurants was superb. In summation, I was surprised it was rated 4 stars - hmmm. It's time for a closer property. I'll probably be traveling thru March, but this hotel will not get my business. August 20, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by More problems than I needed on my wedding night My wife and I stayed here Friday and Saturday night. Our wedding was on Saturday and so I wanted to stay somewhere relaxing before and after the wedding. The first night we got put in the wrong room and it took about 30 minutes before we got into our room. Then, without telling me, I was charged two "holds" on Friday that totaled $1,600, for a room that was only $300 a night. This caused my card to get declined for my limo the night of my wedding and at the hotel my guests were staying at. When I got back to the hotel Saturday night, there was nobody at the front to help us with our bags and the limo driver had to help us get unpacked and go find someone inside. The next morning I got a letter at the door stating that the hotel had been unable to charge another "hold" for Saturday, so my incidentals had been cut off and I couldn't charge anything to the room. I had to spend an hour at the front desk because they couldn't get the holds taken off, but still expected me to pay the $900 for my stay. The hold didn't come off until Thursday. I would not have been so upset about the holds if someone at the hotel had been able to explain why they were for so much, but even the manager couldn't tell me why or get them taken off. The hotel itself was nice, but it was not worth the problems we experienced. October 19, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not So Great This hotel was very crowded with convention attendees. Staff were either cool or non helpful. I resented being called by the "concierge'" with a special gift for me which turned out to be a time share sales proposal and then the night before checkout again being called with a special offer for a future stay. Newspapers were not delivered as requested. A rollaway was delivered with one flimsy blanket. The customer service on the golf course was terrible. Rental clubs were not delivered on time and when they were delivered we were never told where to find them. I asked for a different putter and was told they had none, though they might have loaned me a demo if they had thought about it. No tees were on the driving range and I had to ask twice on two separate days for tees. No towel was in the cart, No water was provided and no one appeared to carry the clubs from the range or to the range. No ball markers were provided. There were parties in the hallways at 3:00AM. All in all this hotel did not approach the standards of other Starwood properties we have visited. If you don't mind a crowded lobby, a crowded driveup, basic customer service and the feeling that you are an insignificant guest--stay here. The property itself is very nice physically, is in a convenient location, is clean and welcoming. The staff, especially at the golf course--not so much. March 23, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel great, restaurant lacking My wife and I came over for a three night stay, she shopped at Kierland and I had business (Simcom Training) during the day. The adult pool area was great and separate from the family area which we appreciated. We come to Scottsdale about 6 times a year and thought we would try the Westin this time. My wife had breakfast at Nellie Cashman and ordered eggs Benedict. One egg had about 50% runny yolk and the other was solid. She kept one as she was hungry. She complained about the solid egg and they eventually brought another one out. What we shocking was they just brought a plain egg, rather than remaking a one complete egg Benedict. The sauce had already separated and gummed up and they expected her to remake it on her plate. The waitress did not even wait to see if the replacement egg was satisfactorily cooked, or did she want anything else. They should know how to cook a soft boiled egg. The waitress even challenged her that a soft boiled egg should not be all runny yolk. Wait staff and management of the restaurant was poorly trained and for the $32 she paid for breakfast a poor value. Next time in Scottsdale with Spear Education we will return to the Princess for consistency. Then right after this experience, when she returned to her room they called the room and tried to sell a 90 minute presentation on their property, no way after a bad breakfast experience.
