Stayed 2 nights here. Hotel is quite old but this cannot be helped and is the same for most places in Kyoto. The location is away from the city centre, but still extremely good, a short taxi ride (JPY700 approx) from Gion or Kyoto station (JPY 1300). Shuttle bus service provided. Plenty to do even if you do not wish to venture out from the hotel - there are 2 or more walking trails, many shrines and temples to visit around the hotel, as well as art boutiques, quaint shops and dining places. Service is good, with many (not all) english speaking staff. Will choose Westin Kyoto for my next trip!

GWという事で、部屋も混んでいたせいかも知れませんが、喫煙ﾙｰﾑをリクエストしていたにも関わらず、禁煙ﾙｰﾑでリザーブ？
喫煙ﾙｰﾑに変更していただいたのは良いが、ｴﾚﾍﾞｰﾀからはかなり遠く、かつ、従業員貨物用バックヤードの隣で目の前は壁？
正直、パッケージツアーでも、こんな部屋に案内された事は有りませんでした。

国内では5つめのSPGグループのホテルの滞在でしたが、ごく普通のホテルでした。サービスは必要最低限で特筆すべきところはありませんでした。ラウンジも特に特徴があったわけではありませんが、眺めは良かったです。
朝食はメニュー豊富でおいしく頂けました。

It's true, this hotel is benefitting from a cleaner environment. It's right beside mountains and forests minutes away from Kyoto Station! I have stayed here over 20 nights in the past 2 years and I have never ever had one single problem with anything.
Suite upgrades for Plats? Yes? Fantastic Platinum lounge with great appetizers and a full self serve bar? Yes! One of the best Westin breakfast buffets with Japanese and Western food? Yes! Shuttle service? Yes (although only 'till 8pm) Electric bikes to rent? Yes (only 3,000Y for the day - totally worth it) Near various Shrines and Castles? Yes! Decent rates? God YES! (except in October when every night essentially triples) Best of all, lots of great authentic souvenir shopping near by.
All other aspects of this hotel truly exceed its Category 4 ranking.

2Fアクアブルーの朝食バイキングを利用しましたが、
値段に見合う満足感を得られませんでした。
大型ホテルなので仕方が無いのかもしれませんが、食事中、ひっきりなしに空いたお皿を下げに来られてちっとも落ち着けませんでした。
まだ食べ終わっていないお皿を、無言で機械的に下げられたかと思えば、明らかに空のお皿を「お下げしてよろしかったですか？」と無用と思える確認の後で下げられたりして不思議に思いました。
また、質問する相手も悪かったのかもしれませんが、お皿を下げに来たある
スタッフに、家族が「この野菜には何をつけて食べるのですか？」と声をかけたところ、その若い男性は「わかりません。」と興味も無さそうに、家族の顔も見ずに即答し、お皿を持って去っていきました。
お料理は種類が豊富で、出来立てのオムレツはおいしかったですが、
ご飯はベチャっとした炊き上がりで、丹波米のイメージダウンになるのでは？と感じました。
正直、お料理の味は、他のホテルの朝食バイキングと比較して、特別においしいとは思いませんでした。
全体の雰囲気も、高級ホテルで朝食を楽しむという状態からは程遠く、忙しない感じでしたので、２日目はホテルの外で朝食を取りました。
1Ｆティールーム「メイフェア」は、お茶、ケーキ、スコーンすべておいしかったです。

宿泊した部屋は修学旅行部屋のようでこの部屋でこの金額はありえない。

プラチナのアップグレードが無いかと思いきや、しっかりと良い部屋にアサインしてくれました。
ただ、ラウンジのハッピーアワーは満席でした。
この部分は改善してほしいです。
日本酒の大吟醸があったのですが、途中で無くなってしまい、違うお酒に変わってしまいました。それは仕方が無いので良いとして。太っ腹な部分も見えました。
スタッフのクオリティはボケーとしている人と、何かお手伝いできませんかと気遣ってくれる人と両極端でした。
また行きたいと思います。

部屋のデスク周りの電源がコンセントが外れていたためわからず、ＴＥＬしたところ、他にテレビボードの裏にあるなど説明されたがすべて使用されてふさがっており要領を得ない。お伺いした方がよろしいですかって、わからないからＴＥＬしているのに…。今時、デスク周りの電源がタコ足のみのホテルはないと思う。今回のスタッフの電話対応は不満。
