- great service everywhere starting from the reception and room cleaning to the restaurants, especially the Greek one : friendly, hospitable, helpful - just anything you may expect

All this 7 days that i enjoy the view of sea, mediterranean food, i felt amazing. The stuff were so sociable, and kind. I guess this vacation will be memored like one of my favourite holidays. And of course im gonna come back next summer with pleasure :) Thank you

We loved this resort and found the service to be excellent. The hotel was our last stop on a series of island tours in Greece. The staff met every need we had and we found the service to be excellent in every respect. Highly recommended for families traveling together. We will go again to Crete and will stay at the hotel again if possible.

The location of this place is truely perfect, amazing sea views, nice beach, small local restaurants within short walking distance.
The property has a SPA, quite good equiped gym and a professional but expensive center. Sun beds on the beach are comfortable.
Breakfast is of good choice, service is far away from exceptional during breakfast.
The rooms are not worth the money, quite old but clean. The private pool is indeed far away from private, I would even not call the room a bungalow, sea view pretty much depends on the building/barrier in front of view.
Service is the worst I have ever seen in a hotel of this category. The standard answer is no and they stick to the minimum they need to deliver. Sorting out a room key issue took half an hour without any sorry, Coffee machine unavailable, kettle with instant coffee against a fee which is for this kind of hotel ridiculous, ....
Platinum recognition is the worst I experienced at Starwood so far.
I indicated the issues in two surveys, one during and one after the stay with the request to discuss all the issues we had, got a standard answer weeks later, one you can google on the Internet.
I cannot recommend this place, in my eyes a waste of money and not on Starwood standards.

My young adult sons and I stayed 4 nights in May 2011 as part of a large company event. Our bathroom was overrun with ants! I brought it to the attention of the front staff immediately, who apologized, but only sent someone down to wipe off the counter. Ants were all over! The floor in the shower, the floor by the toilet, all over the sink. It was gross putting in contact lenses and brushing teeth. The shower is poorly designed in that the water doesn't drain right away - it cascades over the entire floor, felt like I was on a boat!
Other than that, the breakfast buffet was outstanding, the front desk helped us with ideas for touristing, unfortunately, everything was closed. The hotel is fairly remote, long and windy road to get anywhere.
As expected, any of the services bought at the hotel cost about four times what they cost in town: trip to Spinalonga, renting beach/pool toys, etc. We had to go into a bar in town to get wifi - why you have to pay 15euros at a place that costs this much is crazy! Glad we had rented a car.
Stay away from the Asian fusion restaurant - every course was dreadful!

We arrived at Blue Palace on the 15th of August, during the peak weekend of the season. Unfortunately my SNA certificates did not go through, as the property was running at 100% capacity. As a Platinum member, i received complimentary buffet breakfast and internet access. At the end of our stay, we were declined late checkout, but we were offered a courtesy room, in case we wanted to go for a swim.
The property is great, featuring all necessary facilities for high-end leisure travelers and amazing views of the sea and the Spinalonga island. There were many families around (perfect for vacations with the kids), but the property is also ideal for a romantic gateway. The staff is genuinely polite and seemed to be very well-trained.
During the first night of our stay, we had the opportunity to enjoy the Spinalonga island (that lies right in front of the hotel) illuminated. The view was majestic. Later, we learned that this was after the hotel's request, due to the presence of a VIP guest. Unfortunately, the second night the guest had departed and the lights were off. To our surprise, we learned that the cost for keeping the Spinalonga island illuminated for the rest of the season was just 2000 euros and that the locals were trying to raise the amount.
I can not think of a better way for the hotel to cater to their customers and gain invaluable goodwill from the local communities than significantly contributing towards the illumination of this unique landmark.
Tips for future travelers: The property is great, but i would recommend visiting the nearby villages also. Elounda is a little bit of a tourist trap, but Plaka is absolutely beautiful (walking distance from the resort). In Plaka we found amazing souvenirs and had delicious meals in great prices (do not invest a lot in fish, unless you can tell fresh from frozen). We recommend "Thalassa" in Plaka.
Recommendations to the Management:
1. The breakfast is not up to par with respect to other Luxury hotels around the world. During the hot Greek summer, i would suggest providing a bottle of cold water to each table and having a second person to help Ms Sofia at the crepes/omelet counter.
2. The internet connection is slow and requires logging in every time the device connects to the network. It might be useful to upgrade the software and the network capability. It was not a big deal for us, as we spent most of the time outdoors, but i might be for someone else in the future.
3. Our favorite spot, the couches on the outdoor deck, next to the check-in counter go completely dark after sunset. We were told that you can not use candles, because it is windy, but you can certainly use some kind of artificial light to capitalize on this beautiful spot.
Overall, it is a great property with a great deal of potential! Don't miss it!! ;)

We keep coming back, the place allows me to take a breath after a day to life of stress and commotion. You will open your curtains every morning and be awestruck by the beauty of your surroundings. The only noise you'll hear is that of a fishing boat chugging past in the sea below.

The perfect place in the perfect location. Incredible views with easy access to the local village at Plaka and short taxi ride to some excellent gastro taverns in Elounda. However the real standout for us at the Blue Palace were the staff. This is what really matters. Always friendly and keen to help from housekeeping, bars, restaurants, concierge and front reception. As a very frequent traveller, service is absolutely key and this hotel just delivered in spades. Like any place there are always small niggles (e.g. need better cardio machines in gym, better coffee in restaurants), but if the aim is to relax and enjoy good quality family time, look no further. Besides the general hotel facilities, my wife loved the spa treatments and staff there and i enjoyed the challenge of enduring the super powerful water jets in the thalasso pool. There was also a good array of water sports and top range boats (Mastercraft) for waterskiing. Go back?...My wife is already pestering me but you would also be hard pressed stopping me.

We were disappointed in the staff, the beach drinks were bad, made from mixes, and the buffet food was cold. it took two calls to the operator to get anything - like ice. At one point it took 45 minutes to get towels at the pool.

Excellent location and service. The food and menu was exceptionally good in Flame and the Asian restaurant, the Italian was very good and the staff were excellent, the traditional Greek restaurant had a superb location and the service was excellent but we did not enjoy drinking the wine from 'traditional Greek shot glasses'.

Fantastic week, great weather, great resort, great staff.
The only bad thing was having to leave.
The Arsenali bar was our favourite with remarkably attentive staff without being on top of you.
Watching the sun set over Spinalonga in the evening was truly stunning.
Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

One of the most beautiful views ever, with great facilities and service.
The spa was great, the outdoor pool was so big, the indoor pool at spa was amazing.
The staff was very friendly, and the food, expecially in Flame restaurant was excellant.
I recommend this hotel , specially for couples.

The purpose of our journey was the visit of the art exhibition of Tsoklis in Spinalonga. The location of Blue Palace was ideal for this und we enjoyed an unforgettable stay.
Hotel, location, ambience excellent and the staff the best we have ever met.
Unfortunately we have stayed only 2 days.

welcoming reception, great breakfast, great facilities and nice rooms - we got superior bungalow and maisonette, very nice beach. blue door restaurant was great! village plaka is nearby with nice restaurants as well

The Blue Palace is situated in a lovely spot, whilst it is quiet it is not completely isolated being next door to Plaka and not far from Elounda. The view to Spinalonga Island and out to sea is wonderful. The staff are incredibly helpful , polite and friendly, they think of the small things necessary in order to provide excellent service. The only drawbacks to the holiday were that we were initially disappointed by our accommodation having booked a sea view BUNGALOW, which is in fact a room in a terrace of rooms. The room was a good size and clean but the description of bungalow is mis-leading. It would be good to have a kettle, mugs, tea bags, coffee etc available in the room also. The other negative was the food. The food was good to average and could be improved, a pizza oven in the Italian would be a good start. The Asian Fusion really was not good and needs work to improve.
The facilities provided were fantastic, plenty of places to swim, all water sports available, tennis, the spa etc but if all you want to do is relax and read this is a great spot to do so, the best of both worlds.

We have visited Blue Palace in May for 10 nights for 4 (possibly 5) years and occasionally in September for relaxation and good dining.
We usually book with Sovereign and, having had the half-board dine-around 'upgrade' in previous years (the inclusive buffet not being operational other than for breakfast -which is great), had an expectation of dine-around.
However, this year, although paying a similar price, we were restricted (no notice prior to arrival) to the evening buffet that had opened for the first time in 5 years. Not good.
We had the option to pay a premium to upgrade to dine-around (although included in similar costs previously) but this was poor value. Plaka provides better taverna food than the Blue Door for less.
We like Flame and paid the upgrade to eat there. However, it was closed Tuesday, Thursday and Friday so we had limited access.
As always, the team at breakfast, behind the bar, at Flame and on the beach, were great.
A hotel of this quality should not lower its standards with an evening buffet offering. This is not a good experience and we would not have booked with Sovereign if we had been aware of this change, nor would we consider the substantial premium on table water and wine acceptable in a buffet restaurant.
We were disappointed that repeat guests who had booked early with Sovereign were disappointed in this way. Other UK guests (Thomson) enjoyed the dine-around additional cost option for the same overall price we paid with Sovereign for 'complementary' half board upgrade. Blue Palace should have maintained dine-around for Sovereign guests who booked with this expectation.
We feel let down by Sovereign and Blue Palace by the 'downgraded' half-board experience this year.
NB Why did we get a room by the funicular this year (357) and why did the 'hostess' ask if this was the room we had previously......which it wasn't ?
Anyway, we like the standard sea-view room and have never used the pool included in upgrades in previous years. However, being the poorest room available, apparently, it had not been used this season and there were issues with the shower and toilet because of this. These were dealt with...... but why allocate a room that has not been serviced since last season to repeat guests?
Also, the reason for our stay is not recognised in this survey and there is no 'other' option. Should we understand from this that a couple looking for a 10 night quality beach hotel holiday is not the profile of guests you wish to attract?
