Rated 5 out of 5 by rob99 Another Excellent Stay (3rd Time)
We stayed for about a week this time at the resort. Our stay was good for our family and the staff was very nice and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We were upgraded to a parlor suite (connecting room has a couch, TV and table) and enjoyed our balcony when the weather warmed up.
My only suggestion for management would be to clean up the indoor pool area every hour on the hour (pickup towels, trash, etc.) along with adding waitstaff in the indoor pool area (the outdoor pool area was well maintained and fully staffed even though the outdoor pool was partially closed).
Overall we are looking forward to returning in a couple months and enjoying another nice trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jdcjr No Regrets whatsoever...top notch property
We made our first visit to Charlotte and made the mistake of staying at a chain hotel downtown. It was so awful, that we didn't unpack our luggage. Fortunately, the Ballantyne had an opening for us. We were thrilled upon our arrival. From the beautiful manicured landscaping, courteous greeting, beautiful views, polished clean walls and floors, full service luxurious spa, high end rooms, outstanding restaurant, easy parking, to our easy friendly checkout...we were very happy. When we come back to Charlotte, there is only one place to stay and that is here. We stay at the nicest places when we can and this is one of those places! Don't hesitate to come here. Stay away from downtown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by David42 Great place to stay
This was my first stay at the Ballantyne, although I'd eaten there previously. It's a beautiful facility, with a very competent and friendly staff. My only complaint is with their "business center." A guest has free access to the computers, but for only 15 minutes per day, after which the cost is about $5.00 per quarter hour. This struck me as unnecessarily restrictive and being "nickel/dime" charges for a usual-&-customary feature in most hotels. A charge for people hogging access to computers, e.g., for more than 30 minutes would be reasonable, but 15 minutes isn't enough to log on and review emails.

Living and working in the Ballantyne area, I have visited the Resort many times for events such as lunch, dinner, and meetings. However, this weekend was my first overnight stay in the hotel. I was very pleased with my room and the bed was super comfy. Check-in and check-out was efficient and the employees that I encountered were friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dottieA Love This Hotel!!!
I was in Charlotte for the Wells Fargo Golf Tournament. I am so glad that I chose to stay at your hotel. It was one of the greatest hotels ever! It is equal to any luxury hotel at which I have stayed. All of my expectations were fulfilled. The furnishings and decor were beautiful and luxurious; they had the feel of home rather than the feel of a hotel. The bed was fabulously comfortable and so was the bathroom. Food and service was excellent, and so were the views! The location was very convenient and easy to get to. Overall, it was a very memorable experience and I shall return!

My boyfriend and I wanted a weekend getaway and the Ballantyne was the perfect destination. Located just south of Charlotte, it was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was amazing and took great care of us. Everyone from the bell staff to housekeeping, to our in room dining service everyone was friendly and accommodating to our needs. We really enjoyed the indoor pool and the views from our room. Would highly recommend the Ballentyne to those looking for a wonderful experience.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ChicagoHome Not Clean
I always leave a tip for housekeeping but after returning to our room on the 3rd night of our stay, the beds were made but the bath rooms and the bed rooms were not clean and housekeeping had gone through the room so fast they did not pickup the tip left by the TV in an envelope labeled for housekeeping. I had to call 3 times over an hours time to get someone to clean the room. On the 3rd call I was told all housekeeping was gone for the day and I had to insist on service equal to my money spent for the suite. The overall service is not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Live in the Charlotte area and were presented a Gift Card for the Ballantyne. Have stayed there before on business, so knew what to expect from the accommodations - first rate. Staff is excellent. From Housekeeping going out of their way to say hello to the bar tender that not only remembers your beverage choice but also your name. Played the Golf Course Sunday, excellent condition with all the rain in the area. Only disappointment was the restaurant. Going under remodeling and that was not indicated when we made our dinner reservations. Staff was efficient, menu limited.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DEBB 5th stay and no return
This was our fifth stay at the Ballantyne, and previously we loved the property. We splurged for the balcony this time for my Birthday, but their was goose droppings outside and the light fixture was disgusting, it obviously had not been cleaned in some time. And we had the worst view possible.....a rocky ceiling top which then looked out to the coveted golf view. The hot tub was cold. The carpet stank, to the point that we could smell it each time we entered the room. And to top it off, when we pulled down the sheets there was an old soiling stain right where one would sleep. For this, they comped a movie for us, after I had to ask.....Not impressed Ballantyne. I love the Starwood program, but not worth it this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Willdeuce Enjoyed my stay at the Ballantyne in Charlotte
A beautiful property with great personnel and service. Attended a charity event on Thursday night followed by a golf event on your great course the next morning. The food at the charity event for "A Child's Place" was great as was the food service. Spent some time in one of the bars afterwards which was well equipped with top brands. A cold day on the course the next morning but a good time was had by all. I will bring my wife back some time soon for a night out and a round of golf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SPGgoer2012 Pleasant Stay
We stayed one night at the Ballantyne and had quite the pleasant stay. The location was beautiful, and the room was very nice/clean. The staff was polite, but the service at the bar was a little slow (likely because there were two wedding parties there that weekend). I highly recommend the Gallery Restaurant, the service there was excellent and the food was amazing. Our server Billy was fantastic. They were especially accommodating of our need to change the reservation time around twice. I will absolutely stay here again for my next retreat to Charlotte.

Rated 4 out of 5 by nick123 Great Place, hope its not slipping...
We have stayed at the Ballantyne before and also got married here. The place is great and offers great service.
However, this time was a little disappointing. We upgraded to a Junior Suite which seems to have been one of the older rooms. We just didn't feel clean in there and there was an odor that would not go away. The hotel was kind enough to come and spray, but it just wasn't sufficient.
Overall, this is a wonderful place to spend time, but I couldn't help but feel that the level of quality that we normally experience was slowly diminishing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Awoods7 Great hotel - slow service at breakfast
This is a lovely property and our room was just fine. My only complaint was the very slow service at breakfast. That's the one meal where I don't want to linger. The first breakfast, we weren't ready when the server came and it was 10 minutes before she came back. The second breakfast - I had to stand up and ask for the server to bring the check. The third breakfast, our initial server went MIA - so we gave our order to another server. The fourth and final breakfast on New Year's morning - when we were the only people in the restaurant was fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OldImer Great place for a large family celebration
In planning a special 50th wedding anniversary celebration, we searched for a resort hotel which could provide double rooms to meet the needs of families with children and that could provide entertainment for ages 6 to old, at a price that provided excellent value. The Ballantyne met all of our requirements. The kids especially enjoyed the variety of pools and the adults appreciated the golf, tennis, fitness and spa facilities. The hotel staff was excellent and handled all of the minor issues that arise with a large group. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Izzie1957 Unexpected delight
My husband and I were passing through Charlotte at the last minute and needed a place to stay for one night. We booked this hotel after reading some online reviews but were not sure if it would live up to our expectations. It was so much more than we had hoped for! The facility is truly beautiful and we enjoyed sitting out on the terrace bar having a cocktail and watching late golfers putt in. Dinner at their restaurant was delicious. Before heading out for another long day of car riding, I asked the front desk for a walking/jogging map and found a fabulous 3/5 mile walk. There are some great restaurants nearby and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. We hope to stay at this lovely resort again and have time to enjoy the spa/golf course and pool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by af1772 Weekend Getaway
The hotel was very nice but the spa in my opinion is lacking for the price you pay. For instance I went to the spa several years ago when it had first opened and I enjoyed it which is why I felt comfortable returning. However I felt the amenities seriously lacking. My robe was so old I couldn't believe it was still being used. There were no toiletries in the women's locker room to use such as lotion or hairspray. There was only a blow dryer. The quiet area was not relaxing at all. Needless to say I don't feel any need to return to the spa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Maher2012 The Perfect Wedding Night Hotel
When I booked a Jr Suite for my fiance and I for our first night as a married couple, I thought it was a bit of an extravagance, but why not? I mean, how many wedding nights do you get in your life?! Let me tell you that from the moment I stepped out of our limo at the front door, I felt like royalty! We were greeted with chilled bottles of water and our bags were promptly taken to our suite. The room was spacious, inviting, there was water in the fridge, and the little touches in the bedroom and bathroom created an atmosphere of perfection! When we requested a very late check out, our wishes were seen to quickly and cheerfully! I could not have imagined a better evening with my sweetheart, and we hope to return again on our anniversary! THANK YOU!

I am a platinum SPG member and travel extensively using only SPG properties when feasible. With that being said I have stayed at the Ballantyne Resort 20 plus nights in the last year alone and it is always a best in class experience, from the Hotel facility, staff and location it is impossible to beat in the Charlotte market. I have stayed for both business and pleasure and the hotel can dynamically accommodate both. Upgrade to a golf view with a balcony or step up into a suite with the same view, worth every penny-

Rated 5 out of 5 by SZGVJS An outstanding experience
We came to Charlotte for a wedding which was held at the Ballantyne. We arrived on a Friday about an hour before check-in time and our room was available. We also had a late check-out at 1:00 pm on Sunday. We did not use the spa or fitness center and only had a couple of bowls of soup at the bar, so we did not rate food/beverage, pool, spa, or fitness center.
One of the staff went out and bought a step-stool so that one of us could more easily get into bed. We were duly impressed by this level of service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Judy39 This is the best hotel in Charlotte NC
The Ballantyne Hotel & Resort is in my opinion the best place to stay for any reason while visiting Charlotte NC or surrounding areas. Professional staff and very nice staff. My suite was very clean and had everything in it I needed. I have stayed there before and never had any problems. If you want to just relax, have a good meal or just there visiting family or for business, I would rate this a number 10. To me this is the only place I would stay in Charlotte NC. Lots to do and close to most anything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tdh121512 Hotel is great, some of front desk service needs work
Hotel was beautiful and most of the staff was excellent. There was one front desk person that offended me and my guest that I believed was out of line. Contacted the hotel staff and expressed my concern and never received a call back from front office manager. Very nice hotel but the front staff is the first and last people you encounter and can leave either a positive or negative impression. Maybe the hotel should consider that more carefully when hiring front desk personel.
Overall, very nice hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HRHJR All it takes is bad housekeeping and noise
The Ballantyne Hotel is a nice property. The people are friendly and professional. I was disappointed in the Housekeeping. I had requested service while at dinner and it was very poorly done. Other small items like the internet cable having a busted pin was frustrating. The worst, the hallway chatter was very loud, almost like they were in the room. The people were not being overly loud, the door was just very thin. My wife and I wanted to 'enjoy' the morning in bed. That didn't happen, unfortunately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mrhap1001 Best Overall Hotel Experience Ever
From the greeting by the doorman, to checkout, we could not have had a better experience at a hotel.
Each staff member greeted us with a smile and seemed genuinely happy we were there.
The room was nicely decorated and well stocked with a very comfortable bed. We especially appreciated having the choice of a stand up shower or bathtub.
We had never stayed at the Ballantyne, but will never stay anywhere else when our travel plans bring us to Charlotte again.
Thanks again for a great stay.
