Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely Wonderful I have stayed at Starwood Hotels over 300 times and this experience was one of the best. The location is perfect, the rooms are large and the views incredible. I can't wait to go back. Only 20 minutes from Victoria, yet it feels like you are all alone. June 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great 7-night Stay This was my second stay here - first time 2 years ago. It is consistently excellent in terms of rooms, service, staff, and dining. A beautiful location. Special praise goes to the front desk and bell staff for doing a huge favour for us upon check-in. July 22, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Hotel I stayed here with my family for a few days, The staff managed to get us connecting rooms which was really nice. The only thing annoying is the pool being in a separate building and full of people not from the hotel. Otherwise, it was a great stay. October 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by SPG friendly Was surprised to be upgraded to a king suite that was perfect for the kids to run around in. Worth paying the resort fees hence; Excellent amenities like self serve laundry, wi-fi, free calls etc... Staff very friendly, resourceful and polite May 11, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by felt like a vacation Room was large and comfortable and had a nice balcony with a view. We live in the same city, but would recommend the Hotel for a "staycation". May 19, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this place! I love staying here as a getaway. Bear Mountain is beautiful and the hotel is lovely as well. One thing to note is sometimes they have classes happening in the pool which doesn't allow you to have a swim...but the hot tub is lovely. November 9, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by The atmosphere in every aspect was fantastic Every aspect of our stay was excellent, and the dining staff as well as the front desk were very pleasant and helpful when asked specific questions. We have nothing but praise for everyone with whom we had contact. August 27, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bottle Opener? I love the smell as you walk in to the Westin Bear Mountain. It always makes me happy. Our suite was big and had a lovely sunfilled deck. When I wanted to open a bottle of beer, there was no corkscrew. I checked the dishwasher that was still full of freshly cleaned dishes. Oh, I like doing dishes on vacation :( No bottle opener. When I called their express service, they said, the bottle opener does go missing and would send one up right away. Lucky for us, we could open the Corona with a fork, as no opener ever materialized. I also had booked a package with a late check out so we could enjoy poolside on this glorious fall day. I was encouraged to not stay until the advertised time and was asked when the earliest we could leave. That disappointed me. Also advertised in my package, was in room breakfast. Nope, that wasn't included, just a credit for breakfast. Hmmm. I thought they had to advertise what was given. The last thing is the paper was the Globe and Mail. What about our local daily? So for the money it cost for one night, I would say, I could find a better experience. September 18, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by beautifully appointed and landscaped This hotel is beautifully appointed in the main rooms, dining and lounge rooms. The grounds are gorgeous with stunning views. It is convenient for visits to both Victoria and Shawnigan Lake School November 27, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by excessive noise You have a beautiful hotel and the room was very nice, however the stay was somewhat marked by the loud people in nearby rooms. we had to call the front desk twice around 2:00am to complain. November 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Poor Service As an SPG member I was disappointed with the service I received in a number of categories. When we checked in the desk clerk "tricked" us into accepting a room in the Fairway Lodge because it would be "quieter". ON THE CONTRARY, the hallways were always noisy with people leaving their doors open allowing dishwashing noise and kids noise and yelling at kids noise interupting our sleep every night we were there. The units are really time share units with us having a large and spacious lock-off unit, BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT WE WANTED. I have RA and it meant difficult walking to and from the main hotel. THE HOUSEKEEPING WAS VERY POOR. One day the maid did not come until very late afternoon and on a 2nd day did not show up at all. We asked for 1 KING on our web reservation and got 2 small queens. The resort was very far from full and there is no excuse for the desk clerk ignoring our request. Perhaps he didn't think we were good enough to stay in the main hotel. Overall, we were disappointed in what is a high rated hotel. By the way, we resent being charged a "resort fee" for services we never used. December 29, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Hotel, menu misses mark Menu choices, meal quality and dinner prices were disappointing. Breakfast was great. Room was spectacular. Golf course was not to the standard advertised. Too many blind shots. August 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely gorgeous We spent one night there, they gave us the biggest room on the resort. I am not sure the room size/the atmosphere made us change our mind and tickle us to stay one more night there September 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by No time for golf Very nice hotel , pool area is laid out well with tiered lounging levels . Walked some of the Valley Course , I'd get a cart for a round . Suite upgrade was very nice . July 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by NO Hot Water Great suite... to bad about the hot water. The chocolate dipped strawberries were a good start at a heroic recovery but didn't make up for the lack of basics! November 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceeds my expectations each visit Your staff have won my business with their brilliant attitudes, and attention to detail. Thank you for making my bi monthly business trips much less stressful. June 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Hotel. Great service. We had an issue with the heating in our room and once maintenance determined that it was not a quick fix, they upgraded us to a suite. Great service! December 28, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful rooms We have stayed at Bear Mountain Resort several times for the Play and Stay package. The rooms are beautiful, and extremely clean, but I found they have cut back on some of the "complimentary" services without telling us. When we checked in for golf, we were asked if we wanted a bucket of balls for the driving range. We agreed, as, in the past, this was always included with your green fees. However, our invoice included an additional $14.16, which I can only assume was the cost of the bucket of balls. We were not told this at the time, as we would not have bothered, as we only wanted to hit a few. The golf carts no longer have complimentary tees, or water provided. Again, not a big deal, but we were expecting to have water, so didn't take any with us. Our GPS did not work properly either, as the holes were all out of order. We had some water from our room, and I read the sign to say this water was complimentary, but our final invoice included a charge of $6 for the refreshment centre. I understand the need for cutbacks, but feel costs should be a lot more apparent, especially for a hotel of this class. It only came to an additional $21 total, but it seems we were being nickle and dimed to death. March 11, 2013
