Rated 2 out of 5 by ess2787 Didn't meet expectations
I'm a platinum member and the service provided by the hotel was under the quality standards you would expect for a preferred guest. Came here with my whole family to spend quality time in a relaxing place and the experience the hotel described was not met. Could not even eat dinner at the hotel (located in an island) as the restaurant was full with outside guests reservations. I was asked to go off the island by the personnel as they couldn't accommodate me. Part of the reason I chose the hotel was to share a relaxing an private experience with my family which the Hotel definitely did NOT provide for. The least I would have expected was priority for an island guest and in addition a platinum member. Internet service was under average quality and had trouble with connectivity daily. If you're looking for an island/resort experience I would not recommend this place as it seems they care more for outside customers than their own guests.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheyWorkInParadise Beautiful Location, Lousy Service
Come for the great cottages and wonderful grounds. But be prepared for the lousy service. Not-so -accommodating front desk staff. Pool bar serviers that don't bother to hide the fact that they are too busy to help you. Restaurant Bar servers that leave you waiting outside long enough to watch (your) shuttle come and go before even showing up. A restaurant hostess that will seat you (and only you) outside on the beach on one of the coldest, windiest nights in recent memory.

I would not recommend this property to anyone . I stayed there last week and wished I had not . I had great expectations from my stay , after looking at the photos and all the claims hotel made but they all fell short – I wish I had not made the booking.
I was there for a day only – First of all hotel does not tell it explicitly on their website that only way to reach the hotel is by a boat which wastes so much of guests time , I wasted atleast 3 hours just waiting for boat – first of all u had to time the boat timing exactly , u miss by a min , u waste a full hour – and even if u time it correctly still u can miss the boat as there are enough passengers to carry and there is a load limit and hotel does not provide a second boat at that instance so ur made to wait and waste an hour . This time I could have spend enjoying Key West , I spend waiting for the boat , which is totally ridiculous to me . It was totally unacceptable to me but who listens to – hotel has made their money and ur locked in the hotel . I think this is the biggest negative for this hotel .
If I am paying so much for the stay , Hotel should provide me with a better means of access to the main land .
Secondly – the hotel service is terrible – staff don’t respond to room service calls . Hotels makes it a great point that they will provide a breakfast basket , and make you believe that they will serve lot of things to you in the basket – when I got mine , I had some muffins in a big basket and some unripe fruits and you would think , why make such a big fuss about it . they make guest feeling as if they are going to get something special for breakfast . total false claim . I wish they don’t make such a big thing about it –
Thirdly – Hotel over charged me for the things which they were not suppose to . I was told that things are complimentary so I consumed the items from their refreshment bar and later I realized that hotel has charged me for those same items . Totally unacceptable . I had to call them , fight wth them and explain why I should not be charged for them and made to feel guilty that I made a big mistake in believing them . That’s terrible . The rep went through the refreshment list and later after 2 hours realized the mistake –
I went to stay on their property for a enjoyable experience for me and my family but all I got was embarrassment and emotional pressure . All the time I was counting minutes as to how much minutes ahead I need to start walking with my family to make it to the boat , felt like a math exam than a vacation . I would strongly recommend to stay away from this property and not waste your money ,
I would have rather stayed at some other hotel and enjoyed my vacation more if I had known these things in advance .

Rated 5 out of 5 by JHodges Sunset Key Cottages could be anywhere!
I travel every week on business and brought my family for long Easter weekend stay this time. What a beautiful island and just a quick 5 min boat ride from Key West Westin. Once you are on island the care and service you get are amazing. Awesome beach, dolphin trip, snorkeling, fishing all arranged by Concierge. Even had an easter egg hunt which my kids loved. Truely a safe and wonderful place to let the kids roam and do their thing and not have a worry about saftey or lack of things to do. Couldnt be easier and more relaxing. Latitudes was excellent and delicious! Enjoyed party time in Key West and quiet comforts of Sunset Keys only 5 minutes away.
First vacation my kids actually thanked me for taking them on!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Olek Overpriced Great Location
I went to the cottages because I wanted to have a great time and spend some time away from civilization with my family. We usually go to a five star in miami beach, but this time we felt more adventurous. What a mistake: 1. Starwood Status recognition was terrible. Late check-out was noon on a Monday when the hotel was completely empty. 2. Services always full regardless of status. Spa - booked, restaurant - booked, monday spa - closed. Can we do something? Not really. 3. I was feeling ill. "Is there a doctor in house: I could get you some pills?" 4. Location is awesome. But totally overpriced. Resort fees of amenities you cant use because they are booked. 5. Top tier price but mid tier service. 6. Pool bar on a weekend, closed after 3:00 PM. Want anything to drink? Go all the way to the entrance to pick it yourself. 7. Pastries in the morning. Great. for such a high price a night its the minimum you would ask.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SDBinOK The Sunset Key Cottages are outstanding
We have stayed here four times in under one year. We have stayed in both the two and three bedroom cottages. The hotel is truly a perfect environment. From the five minute boat ride to your private island to the beach cottages that are perfectly accommodating and furnished, your every need is met. Also, the gym is well done, the spa worked well for my wife, the pool was great for the kids and the beach was pretty and private. There are employees at all both the pool and the beach taking care of everyone's needs. Finally, the restaurant and room service is impeccable. The Sunset Key defines 5 star resort and is absolutely worthy of all of the accolades it has received.

Sunset Key provides any and all needs. It is a beach, a quiet place to relax, minutes from Key West by boat for all the excitement you might crave.. The personnel are outstanding. We have been going for 10 years and we don't know how but it gets better every time. The facilities are constantly being upgraded and the personnel always remember you. Can't say enough

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jadejoann4 Will not find a better view than this in Key West!
From the moment you step off your vehicle to the moment you check out, you will be treated like royalty. The staff is incredible polite and helpful. Our host met us at the dock, I believe her name was Gina, Russian girl, walked us through the check in process. Took us to our villa, showed us around and left us to enjoy the resort. The pool side bar was excellent and so was the service. The bartender was so attentive. Now, the view was spectacular. We can see Mallory square across the water and at night, we laid in the hammock listening to tw music played across the way. The 3 bedroom villa is spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Casual decor makes it feel at home in the keys. Will be back many times, God willing!
