Rated 3 out of 5 by Ray17 FAVOLA RESTAURANT : A TRULY DOUBLE BAD EXPERIENCE
This is the 3rd time I have been to this resort, whilst the hotel itself is OK it’s restaurant FAVOLA was really a bad experience.
I tried a saturday night italian buffet and the pasta was flabby and overcooked, I tried in vain for 3 times to have a carbonara and for 3 times i was presented pasta floating in a cream sauce, which had nothing to do with the “real” carbonara sauce.
The second try was the following tuesday, with a la carte menu: based on the restaurant’s manager suggestion I ordered a risotto with prawns, asparagus & garlic cream, which was described as “fabulous”, what I got was a soup-like rice (prepared with a wrong variety of rice not suitable for risotto) which had NO asparagus, NO garlic cream, and nothing of the creamy consistency a truly italian risotto should have; as a resulta it was sent back to the kitchen uneaten (as an italian who has cooking as an hobby and eaten in hundreds of italian restaurants I know when italian food is either good or bad).
As main course I ordered a rack of lamb, cooked “blue/extremely rare” and I emphasized this at least 3 times, it was served “medium rare” and also this dish took the way back to the kitchen.
When I complained to the food & beverage manager I got the standard apologies and the “magnanimous” offer that I would not be charged for the food….. (like I would have ever paid for a lousy food which was sent back uneaten) and that someone would have reverted back to me in a couple of days.
In the meantime, since the restaurant had a nice & big comments book, I wrote my comments, which were clearly negative and described in details the relevant reasons.
The most ASTONISHING & DISGUSTING thing happened a couple of days later, I passed by the restaurant and looked at the comments book, and guess what ? the page with my negative comments had been torn off the book.
Yes, this is how the Favola’s management considers the guest’s negative comments, like in the Stalin’s Russia, whoever does not agree disappears…!!!!
I’m truly shocked and disgusted by this kind of behaviour in a 5 star Starwood property, something I would never have expected.

Now I've already stayed here@Le merdien Khaolak, Thailand.
Stayed 2-day with my family which have 2 spg platinum members in the same household.
Period : July
Check in 03.00 pm
Rate plan : Summer pax./Travelzoo
Bookings : Royal Suites
Pros and Good experience in this property :
1)Good location and sceneric veiw with the peaceful long walking-sand beach.
2)Weather here in this time mostly still sunny and some cloudy. But few rainny in the low season period now. [May-Oct].
3)Delicious Buffet Breakfast@Leelawadee cafe. However Ban Thai, which a-la-carte breakfast is closed now,in the low season too.
Cons and Bad experience in this property :
1)No any welcome fruits, when we've arrived in this resort in our rooms shows only few nuts in the small plate, then we'll go to ask the front desk, she said : In this resort no any welcome fruits and individual resort have different, have only few nuts on the tables. In my family never got this experience before.
2)No any right platinum benefit recognitions here, was confirmed by the assistant manager and front desk. They said "In the low season, If you've booked any special promotions rate as well as you've been treated as ordinary member."
If you have any privileges ,royalty or platinum benifits should not go this property in this no-value period. Because their targets are ordinary and walk-in guests ,not gold or platinum member.
For example for us about this experience :
-No any optional room upgraded.
-No additional voucher for 2 Daily drinks per night for spg platinums, becaused Front desk [she]'said in this room rate have included free drinks for us.
-No any explain about platinum lists benefits properly.
3) No cleanliness in our rooms such as sand on the floor and some curd ?? on the bathrooms. You'll found mosquitoes around the rooms too.
4)Poor free internet here, very slow and not smooth. That's means not only platinum can use free internet, but also everybody here use it in the same time.
5)Have the pity baby elephant in this resort too,We hope this resort'll do not concern only about commercial aspect for attract foreingner. She should be in the resort? Hygeine ?? so bad smell. But the actually thing it was permitted from any government ??National Park Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department.Questionable???

Rated 4 out of 5 by KoalaBaby Excellent experience except the Cleaniness of Jacuzzi
We stayed in Pool Access Villa (before trip, we planned to stay in Pool Villa, however fully booked). The room size, comfortable king size bed, clean bed sheet, washroom, outdoor shower, etc are very good. Unfortunately, the water in Jacuzzi is dirty with moss. And in the third day, the air-conditioner had leakage problem. It wet the wooden floor!
The pools are huge in size, and with 3 pools. So not crowded!
The staff service are very good, always gave you nice smile.
Happy and surprised to see the baby elephant in the Hotel.
Breakfast buffet is good, suggest to provide fruits and vegi (such as carrot) for making fresh jucie!

Rated 4 out of 5 by YesItsMe Great place, but customer service needs improvement
I enjoyed the grounds, the beach, and the rooms.
Downsides are a lack of a platinum lounge and the poor customer service. We had to call multiple times to have things delivered to our room, etc.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MichaelY11 Not a nice stay
1. No privacy for the ocean front pool villa. One side of the villa completely open to the beach, what is the purpose of staying at a pool villa if no privacy?
2. Too busy and crowded for breakfast. Cannot feel relaxation for taking breakfast. Need to flight for table, food and using the coffee machine.
3. The toilet of the villa smell, didn't the cleaning staff feel that although I didn't say out?
4. Found out my bill need to pay a THB31 donation but nobody told me that I had a MANDATORY donation for staying at this hotel. Feeling being robbed.
5. I will not come back and recommend this hotel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leslie28 Lovely Hotel, Great Staff
Hotel reception staff greeted my husband by name as we entered the lobby and welcomed us warmly. My husband is an SPG Platinum and usually receives suite upgrades upon arrival. We were informed that there were no suites available at the present time, but that we would be put in a premium room and moved to a suite after 2 nights. The premium rooms are well appointed, clean and just fine. We were moved to a suite, which was large, clean and spectacular. The hotel provides a special breakfast for Platinum members and a happy hour. Both ammenities exceeded our expectations. Peter greeted us daily and provided very informative and helpful information about the resort and the surrounding area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by leonardo perfect hotel in thailand - but no wifi!
What can I say, its the most magnificent hotel with amazing staff and amazing service. Its on a great beach and as soon as its all feeling too 5 star you head on the beach for massage and lunch at Ramalaya. Cant get better. The city is gorgeous too. It reminds me of my trips to Thailand in the 80's. Only problem is they dont have WIFI through the hotel. I mean really!!!...no WIFI from an SPG hotel. Its embarrassing!! They give you a little bit of dial up speed action in the lobby. Someone needs to teach these guys about smart phones and a thing called a tablet. otherwise its all great stuff!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by AndyFarmer Didn't meet our expectations
Unfortunately our recent stay at the hotel didn't meet our expectations. This hotel could be absolutely fabulous, in a great location and is on a very big plot of land, however the rooms and the pool areas are very tired and need refreshing. The staff were good in places and poor in others and whilst we did have a good family break we were left a bit disappointed with Le Merdien Khoa Lak. Mr Ruud the GM did hear our feedback and was quite accommodating but the hotel needs some love and attention and staff be a bit more professional in some places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JLB3 My Blood Pressure Drops When I'm at Le Meridien Khao Lak
On our return visit my lifetime Platinum status was quickly acknowledged as we were upgraded to Villa 058. While all resort services and facilities were excellent the most outstanding was the personal care and attention given to my wife who was recovering from a fall in the Delhi airport the previous week. Le Meridien's nurse's clinic provided excellent follow-up care which included daily bandage changes and careful observation of her sutures.
Unlike many hotels the management of each department were readily visible and accommodating. We look forward to a return visit next year.

We have just returned from 9 days of bliss at Le Meridien . The holiday was to celebrate our Pearl Wedding Anniversary, and we couldn't have picked anywhere better. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, the staff amazing , hello to Tony and his team at The Plunge Bar. We had one of the dining experiences which was magical, even in the rain, a HUGE thank you to Fon and her team. This was the first holiday I've been on when I didn't want to come home, we lit lanterns on the beach with our best friends on our last night, it was very emotional, Thank you everyone at Le Meridien .

Rated 5 out of 5 by UnoC Perfect!
Everythings are perfect, especially the spa and the breakfast buffet, with wide variety of food. I really enjoyed the relaxation in 2 hours spa treatment, which only costed 50% of the original price. It's nice that they upgraded my privilege which included 2 complimentary drinks in any bars or restaurants, and upgraded my room too.
I believe I'll stay there again if I'm back to Phuket.
Only some minor area they should pay attention for. I found there were some ants around the wall near the desk and on the table, that I have to keep there clean and avoid any food crumb.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Pind Extremely Dissapointing
This was a dissapointing experience from start to finish. No SPG Recognition upon arrival, rude reception staff ( made us wait forever), bad service ( staff could not speak basic english), dirty room, quality of food very dissapointing. However, the hotel has a beautiful location and a wonderful beach but that is mother natures doing and not the hotel . No Value for Money and certainly not Five Star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PhilP A great stay... we will be back!
A great hotel with some great staff! Stayed in a villa which are magical! Pool area is also great. One of the best parts was the breakfast that villa guests are entitled to. The food at breakfast was absolutely superb! Can't agree more than to hire a scooter to get in and out of town. Also, the cafe/restaurant at the end of the beach provides a good alternative that is close by.
All of the staff deserve a mention as every time we passed/spoke/dealt with they always greeted us with a beaming smile. Our 3 villa hosts we wonderful. We will be back for sure!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jinny Great Service
Our family stayed at this hotel a few months ago. We asked a late checkout and were accepted till 19:00pm. It was a really great thing!! as we stayed with 84 year old mom... Again, thanks for your kind consideration. However, all restaurants were not opened every day so that we missed "Thai" restaurant...Shuttle bus timetable is not frequent enough.. Anyway, overall a nice hotel and we'd like to visit again in future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by itk1858 Beautiful resort in a fantastic location
The hotel's location is perfect - just far enough from Phuket (an hour drive) to make it feasible and just far enough from the main area to avoid the crowds of Khao Lak. The room and villa were well appointed. The property was extremely well maintained and the staff was all very friendly. I loved seeing the baby elephant Namwat every morning and evening and the breakfasts at Baan Thai were a perfect way to start each day. There are plenty of great options for thai food by just taking a stroll down the beach to the beachfront restaurants as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ABCD81 Go there - you won't regret
Our experience at the Le Meridien was very good. We enjoyed the beautiful hotel property, the beach, SPA and of course the elephant. Prices are okay compared to other hotels in the same category which is a nice plus. It's true that they do not really upgrade Platinum members into suites/villas, their "standard" rooms are nice and spacious enough and they have a few perks (breakfast at different restaurant, happy hour, etc.) The highlight for us was the elephant and seeing how nicely she is treated by her mahout. We would definitely come back!

We had a wonderful holiday in Le Meridien. The hotel has beautiful gardens, the best we have ever seen.We had a pool villa and went swimming every morning before breakfast in the privacy of our own garden. As villa guests we also had the pleasure of enjoying the a la carte breakfast in the Baan Thai restaurant on the lagoon watching black swans, ducks and coyfish. Our day could not have started better! The hotel is situated on a lovely quiet beach and it's possible to take long walks in both directions along the unspoilt coastline. We loved it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by captainmw Best hotel experience of my life
I'm a business traveler who is on the road 200+ days per year. I frequent southeast Asia and often spend weekends diving in Thailand and Borneo between meetings, so the Le Meridien Khao Lak is one of my frequent weekend retreats. Of the 100's of hotels I've stayed at the LM Khao Lak consistently delivers to absolute perfection, from rooms to food to service levels. I highly recommend this hotel particularly for couples looking for a relaxing getaway as well as adventure travelers as it affords great location to hiking, diving, rafting, etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Samiad82 Service Is Terrible
Arrived to find our room not ready dispite it being 30mins past check in time.
Went for lunch at the seafront grill. Had to ask to order food. Had to ask for knifes and forks to eat it with. The food was given to the wrong table, it took over half an hour for a wrap and a burger and the chips where cold which is pretty impressive in that heat!!!
Check in was a massive headache and we got ran round everywhere before we managed to get to our room, then had to wait 30mis for our bags.
Serivce was genrally slow but as we realised this early on we chilled out and left the resort to eat. That way we didn't resent everypenny we spent!! If you want 5 star service go to Mojo's next to McD's in the town. It doesn't look fancy but they know how to treat guests there!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by ykl0102 Some improvements needed
The overall experience in this hotel is average.
Good points of the hotel:
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Some of them are very informative.
The food quality is good, especially the Favola.
Areas of improvement
During my stay, the electricity supply of the hotel is down. The light of the room switched on itself (even I switched off the "Master switch") at night for consecutive 2 days. This kept waking me up in the mid-night.
It seems that there is nothing we can do when it is raining. Especially when the hotel is short of electricity. (Just wonder if it is possible to have a pool with cover so that we have something to do when it rains heavily)
The variety of food is too few. 2 restaurants were closed due to rain, leaving cafe lilawadee the only choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimbo73 Fantastic Resort, perfect for a family break.
We had a great, relaxing time at the hotel.
The room was nice and big (and clean), breakfasts were very good, and there were a lot of very helpful staff.
The kids club has plenty of activities and the pools are fantastic.
There were also a few times (particularly lunch service) when service was not really up to standard, and the staff seemed a bit lost and often made errors with orders or service, but this did not affect our stay overall.
We had a great time.... and would definitely recommend the hotel to our friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by subha This hotel has great features and unexpected friendly service
The natural sea beach, wide swiming pool, lots of green area, combination of local and international buffet breakfast and other hotel facilities make this resort the best resort in this region.
All the hotel staff specially the reception desk staff very much friendly and cooperative.
My special thanks to the hotel general manager Mr. Rudh for his special care to my family and othr guest in the hotel.
We could find him in the reception, breakfast and every facilities in the hotel during our stay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Maxwell002 An improvement in food quality will make a big difference
Whilst we enjoyed our stay, the room (royal suite was great) and the friendly stafff, we felt the food and beverage was very hit and miss and lets the resort down significantly. Excluding buffet breakfast ( which was good for a buffet breakfast) , the best meal was at Favola closely followed by room service. All other meals were poor ( considering the prices charged) Cocktails were well below an acceptable standard which should not be attributable to the very friendly people serving but the lack of training.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JLB3 Our Third Stay Was As Good As The First!
As our hotel car pulled up in front the staff was there to welcome us back. My Lifetime Platinum status was recognized by an upgrade to the same lagoon villa we were in last fall. This property has the best deserted beach as far as you can see, without all the hawkers found in and around Phuket beaches. The staff, food, and property make this our ideal beach retreat.
Too bad it may no longer be a Starwood!!!!!

The overall of Le Meridien Khao Lak is look good and comfortable but when we arrived at hotel doesn't have anybody come for greeting or ask us to checking-in and their staff are not smiling when I asked them for checking-in.
The worst of our stay at this hotel. When we going to use their beautiful main pool after back from the beach, we was found a lot of tiled pool are broke and feeling unsafe to swimming with our friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rossco A wonderful place for a holiday
The Le Meridien Khao Lak is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and we are experienced travelers having stayed at over 100 Starwood properties alone. The location was stunning, the service exceptional and the pool villa very comfortable. We ate almost entirely at the resort and really enjoyed every meal at the "Baan Thai". "Favola" the Italian restaurant and the beachfront "Bamboo" were also very good but we especially loved the Thai food and developed an addiction to the curried fish cakes. We can't wait to return as the level of care and attention of all staff was very high and genuinely warm. This visit was for our wedding anniversary and I am sure it won't be the last anniversary we will spend here. It was hard to leave which is always a good sign. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Frank reliable experience
After a good experience at the Meridien in Phuket a couple of years ago, I also tried the Khao Lak one North of Phuket, a bit remote but great if you are trying to keep away from Phuket agitation. Great beach, architecture, staff. Main disapointements was the italian buffet in terms of value for money, similar problem with the wines, cheap qualities and high prices, but this last issue is a general problem in Thailand and not necessarily specific to one hotel. I would go back anyway

Rated 5 out of 5 by MHoch3 Wonderful stay at Le Meridien Khao Lak in February 2013
Perfect place to relax within a wonderful tropical garden and its astonishing large pool area. Pleased about the exceptional friendly and service oriented staff: Everyone goes the extra mile. Located at a quiet beach with beautiful palmtrees and rocks nearby. Not good for snorkeling though (we enjoyed a day trip to Similan Islands). Rooms are not in perfect condition, but clean and everything worked, what more do you need. We really enjoyed it and would certainly come back.

Rated 3 out of 5 Service is slipping
I don't know why, but the staff seem less interested in service this trip. Kind of put us off a few times. I think it all comes down to management leadership, or lack of same.In any event, for the kind of money you pay for the privilege of a stay, one certainly expects more. Another mind blower is the fact that almost every budget bungalow and room in Thailand now provides free wifi, but here they want you to pay 240b an hour, or 530b a day, Wow! Can you spell technology?.
