we ordered room service twice, the first time, in the children's meal hamburger & fries, there were no vegetables at all in the burger and the second time, there were vegetables in the burger, why is that? other than that, the stay was great and we are coming back!

The property and rooms seemed a bit dated and tired - not on par with other Meridiens. The staff was not particularly attentive and the concierge could have been more helpful. The pool did not have enough chairs for us. But the location was very nice.

Hello! Second stay with you. Stayed in room 108. Very shabby - stains on floor. the AC is also very loud(even when switched off) in bathroom. No real privacy in outer deck - very open. Shower head was old - no water pressure. Tea/Coffee - not enough in a glass for 2 persons! Fridge very old - not sure working? Bed comfy - sheets had hairs on them. Pillow cases didnt closed. Neither did duvet cover. No iron which was annoying! Bed side lights too far away from bed. Internet prices should be looked at? Very expensive.(1500 for 24hrs OK but 600 for 2 hrs?!)More shuttles to city possibly? Only 1 running a day? Pool side area is your best quality. Great pool/staff. Pity more people dont attend as that pool area would make for a great bar - similar to Sofitel pool bar when it was up and running. Staff were great - didnt see many women at FOH? Room service was good - lovely food. I think a re-decor is on the cards? Still a nice hotel - would stay again!

The staff was attentive, the food was excellent, the location is great, the gardens are well kept.
The building needs some attention. The hotel working areas need to be cleaned up a lot ... hopefully most guests won't see them.

Black mold in shower, unattentive staff, old creaky floorboards and more. The hotel is not in a good location either. The beach is very bad. I would not recommend this hotel.

Our one night stop over before our flight home was great at this hotel. They were very accommodating and not crowded! Love the sand pool. Perfect for kids!

Papeete isn't our actual destination, but due to flights we sometimes stay a night either on our way to other islands, or on our way back home. On our most recent trip in April 2011, we stayed here and we very surprised. Be realistic though - staying in Papeete cannot be compared to the other islands. But in comparison to other luxury properties we've stayed at, the Le Meridien is one I would return to without hesitation. The hotel is very clean. The beach is reasonably clean and well maintained. The restaurants are reasonable and accommodating. The staff is welcoming and friendly.

Stayed at Le Meridien for 2 nights of our honeymoon after a 7 day cruise. I expected a let down from the cruise on Paul Gauguin (Moorea and Bora Bora were awesome), but was pleasantly surprised. I am glad we stayed here. It enhanced our honeymoon experience.
I booked a King junior suite using points (about the only bargain using points in French Polynesia). I was able to contact the hotel directly and get upgraded to an over the water bungalow (5000 points a night extra). The staff that responded to my many emails were excellent (Nathalie and Valerie).
The staff at the hotel all exceeded my expectations. Check in with Julien was a delight. He offered me the choice of several amenities for my gold status including wifi which I took. Signal in the farthest bungalow out was adequate to stream TV from my DVR at home. Got a late checkout and the day of departure Tino (sp?) extended it to 6p.m. so we didn't have to leave our room until it was time for the cab ride to the airport. You don't know how nice that was! Tino also was very helpful on several other occasions.
We speak no French, and it was clear that most of the staff did not have full command of English. But, everyone was terrific, friendly, and patient. I wondered at one point if they had mistaken me for a travel critic. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.
We had a couple of requests like for a top sheet on the bed and a different pillow and they responded very quickly.
We had a couples massage in their spa. Outdoor area was very pleasant with the sound of many birds chirping, children playing and a piano playing somewhere. Above average deep tissue massage at a reasonable charge. I don't remember seeing anywhere that they promoted the couples massage. We just happened to ask.
The property is gorgeous. Ask about their botanical tour. Took a few photos and they look like a postcard. Again, I expected kind of a let down from other islands. They have a markers on different plants on their property and a reference guide (a map would have helped). View of Moorea from our bathroom, and views of the crystal clear water and lots of fish from our balcony. Went snorkeling and were not disappointed. Toss some rice into the water (hope that's ok) and got swarms of fish under our balcony.
The surf breaks maybe 1/4 mile from the bungalows and you can hear it clearly in the bungalow. Very soothing. Woke up one a.m. to a bird that made a kissing sound. My wife and I now imitate that.
Ate lunch at the hotel, and it was ok. Partly my fault for not asking more about what I was ordering. Waitress was also very helpful and eager to serve. Cost was not unreasonable.
We were directed to a market a short walk away and found that they had take out food. Delicious and relatively cheap. Coming off the cruise we weren't looking for culinary delights.
The bungalows were incredibly romantic with gorgeous views. I don't know what other rooms in the hotel are like. We had no flying insect problems at all. But, we were a little apprehensive having read othe reviews and then discovering that there are no screens or glass in the windows (and mosquito netting over the bed with lots of gaps). Windows had wood blinds that don't appear to be air tight. Got a nice breeze with all open. But, ran AC most of the time (is that new?). Bungalows looked like they could use a little maintainance and updating. You have to go back to the beach to get into the water and there is no glass floor to view the fish from inside the room. We knew this going in.
If you're on a budget or need to use points in Tahiti this would be a good place to try. If you have the bucks to spend, the over water bungalow experience is probably better elsewhere in Tahiti. but, we'd go back here again.
