Rated 4 out of 5 by DHL2014 short stay
We had an very good stay at the Meridien Nice, hotel staff, breakfast and the food/service in the Terrasse restaurant were excellent. The only significant problem was the noise of the concerts in the adjacent park - which was excessive for all the nights we stayed at the hotel. We appreciate this is beyond the control of the hotel, but will influence our decision whether or not to stay at the hotel in future.
It was also disappointing that there was nowhere to relax around the pool, and that the staff at the affiliated beach were so rude.
The bathroom also needed upgrading.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BIGStarwoodTRIP2012 Better service this time
This time was different it seems that once a while this hotel treats its platinum member nicely.
1st stay about 5-6 weeks ago it was nice
2nd stay terrible room wasn't ready no platinum amenity
Last stay nice welcome letter and some treats, nice again
Facility still in need of maintenance, breakfast area ceiling is leaking water, area around it smells like mildew (wet carpet). Exact location, it's right by the smoked salmon platter. Look above the ceiling.
staff over the phone when you need something, expect terrible full of excuse response.

Modern room decor with nice amenities. Just a few steps to the beach, park, old town, and shops galore. We rested here before our flight home. Breakfast was tasty, but alas inside. (The terrace opens at 10am) We enjoyed the view of the sea as we ate. Staff helpful with last minute postcard mailing, and other requests. Families DO NOT miss the park across the street, look for fountains, aquatic themed play structures, and musical events.

Rated 1 out of 5 by benzygirl Old and Run Down. Unresponsive Staff. Great Location
THE GOOD: The best thing this hotel has is its location, which is fabulous. It's right across the street from the beach. The shopping and restauarants are very close, and all within walking distance. Also a nice rooftop area with great view for drinks and light food, however, the bathrooms up there are disgusting. Room service delivered a pot of coffee in the morning in 15 minutes which was good.
THE BAD: where do I begin? We paid to upgrade to the highest floor sea view with large balcony. The room was on the small side, and ours was hot. We called about the A/C. We were told the A/C is the same in all rooms. They brought us a fan. When we came back from dinner, we realized we coudn't sleep in such a hot room. First they offered us another room on the same floor that was cool, but wanted another $50. This was at 8 pm at night and we were leaving the next morning for a flight. I wasn't about to pay more because they had given us a HOT room. No apology or call from a supervisor. Just the short tempered girls answering the phones downstairs. We finally ended up in an inside COLD room. But after waiting 30 minutes and repeatedly calling for a bellman, we took our luggage down 3 floors ourselves. The room was cold. There was mold in the bathroom tiles in the tub area. the hallways are dark, and run down looking. The whole place needs renovation. Oh, in some rooms if you dont leave your key in the slot inside the door, you will have no lights or electricity. Plus the lighting is so minimal in the rooms, it's hard to see. In the morning, we called so mnay times for a bellman that finally I went and got the cart myself. We had just stayed at Le Meridien Barcelona and it was much, much nicer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HospitalitybyMW Mediacore hotel in a stunning location.
We were very underwhelmed. As SPG Platinum member we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room with sea view and “balcony” – the room was on the small side and the balcony was a “French” balcony, e.g. one can hardly stand on it, and it has only one small door to access it: In short if this is the best available room: I don’t even want to know what their superior rooms look like – especially at these kind of rates. Towels in the room had skid marks on them (and worst was not replaced after service), the bath sinks looked very dirty. The two complimentary bottles of water we finished after day one, were not restocked, nor did we receive new bathroom amenities. The card reader on the door worked very badly – we struggled each and every time to get the door open (literally taking 7 or more swipes to get in) – one morning we met a lady from housekeeping who was working on the floor: she looked at us struggling with the door, looked us in the eyes and subsequently walked away – an embarrassing gesture. One of the worst starwood breakfast selections ever experienced: we arrived the first morning at 09:20 – the breakfast closes at 10:00. During the breakfast we were approached three times by the same lady hostess (once by walking into the restaurant, once while at the table, once while walking the buffet) who asked for our room number. In general there was an extreme amount of staff, all running around and being “very busy” – we were not sure with what or whom… we had the last two mini croissants (they were not restocked), when we asked we were told they were “finished” – there was unripe fruit (green bananas), canned orange juice (I literally saw a waiter pour two cartons of juice into a steel container before re-pouring it into the serving containers on the buffet), tasteless processed ham and cheese (a “hotel block”) and the worst “Illy” coffee I ever tasted. When I complained to the manager I was told that there were in fact fresh juices, but had not been stocked, the fruit was ripe and that the coffee could not be bad because it was Illy – all in a very hostile and “you are the only one complaining” kind of way (we overheard a German and Dutch family complaining as well). The pool on the rooftop is so tiny you can hardly swim in it and the beautiful rooftop terrace was dead on both nights. The location itself is stunning (Promenade Anglais is one of the most beautiful boulevards in the world and the city of Nice is very, - well -, nice) but this hotel, remaining as one of the few Le Meridien’s in France does not put any justice to its name, location nor expected service level and that is highly unfortunate. Upon complaining to the hotel's director of rooms, I received a long email essentially mentioning that "I missed the items that were not on the buffet and that there are in fact fresh juices" - he also pointed out that our room was serviced twice and all towels and bathrooms were cleaned up to standards - even though the pictures I took speak for themselves. I did not receive a reply after trying to initiate another email to receive an apporiate compensation.

Could not be better placed on the sea front, great views of bay and park. Hotel room good size. Food in restaurant excellent. Will definitely be eating there again.
Our only problem was the shower. Ive stayed in 2 star hotels in the past with a better shower.
Brilliant cocktail bar in a street to the left of the hotel.

One of the most expensive hotels in Nice, Le Meridien is in a great location and should be a great hotel. However, be wary, it's a very noisy location, sleep before at midnight on the lower floors in premium rooms is impossible. Rooms are dysfunctional, no drawers for personal items, no irons/ironing boards, no coffee/tea in room. No desk if you're on business. Starwood Gold not recognized, amenities had to be requested...several times without success. Terrace bar/restaurant was excellent, great food. Only redeeming quality in my opinion.
