1 of the 2 lifts were always out of order and for 3 days both lifts out of order.
Half of the lights in the dining room don’t work. There are so many leaks in the roof there are buckets all over the place catching water.
The food is left out far too long in the heat without covers or refrigeration. There are no UV lights in the dining room to zap the multitude of flies that use the food as private buffets.
We stayed all inclusive but couldn’t have a bottle of water with meals or during the day only a small glass
The aircon in the room kept tripping the fuse. The tv constantly buzzes.
but worst of all was the poor choice, and constant recycling of food. The food was bland unimaginative and repetitive with a few exceptions. Some dishes we are sure were reheated or recycled 2 or 3 times, the head ‘chef’ needs training or moving on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by YBee The Place is Falling Apart and the Service is TERRIBLE!!!
The hotel and location is beautiful; however, the entire place is falling apart! The maintenance culture is obviously poor/non-existing. The first room we were given was dirty and they had to come up to clean the floors and everywhere. We finally changed rooms, because the air conditioner was not working and the heat was unbearable. It took 2 days but they finally got around to changing the room. We checked out 5 rooms before we could finally settle for the one with the least problem! All the rooms had one major issue or the other. The room we settled for had a smaller bed than we paid for and a leaking roof, but by then, we couldnt be bothered...we had had enough! We just put a bucket and allowed the water to drip into it!!!!!
As for the service we recieved there, the worst ever!!!! I am an African and I am used to poor service....but this is the worst I have ever experienced in my entire life!!!! Asking for something as little as a teaspoon would require repeated requests!!!! Check-in took over an hour!!!! The staff just seemed really clueless!
The food was good most times and the natives are really friendly.
I definately wouldnt return to Sheraton Gambia ever again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dreamers Need to improve and update
First of all, many hotel facilities need to be modernised or even repaired, such as our bathroom door which did not close properly, with the risk of getting stacked inside.
The spa area was not properly cleaned and some of the mattresses were cut.
Additionally, we asked for the airport transfer options, and we were just told about the taxi service, that was GMD 800, no more information given. However, once there we noticed that there is a tourist taxi service at the hotel, with a public list of rates. This option was cheaper. We asked at check out to the staff at reception to apply that rate to our transfer, and we were told that these were different services, without giving us any additional reason.
The hotel has direct access to the beach, a very good point, but there is no beach cleaning service,, so it is full of plastics and rubbish.
The food was good.

The money we paid for this holiday was far too much, the food wasn't good, not very clean, the sheets were on the bed for nearly two weeks, all though we always had nice clean towels, we couldn't drink the brandy we complained, but they didn't change it, always running out of diet mixers which is not good if you are diabetic, the bar seats were so uncomfortable you couldn't stay to long and there wasn't anywhere else to sit, only lay on loungers which some people can't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nagabushan one of the best hotel for memorable holiday
The staff are exceptionally good and caring. There are two areas that require improvements, one room maintenance and restaurant.
Room Maintenance - too many pests in the room and flooring is poorly maintained.
Breakfast at the restaurant has limited spread and especially fruit display is very poor that makes the guest not to eat. Also, around 9.30AM (closure to the closing time) one has very limited choice. Secondly, inordinate delay in service

Rated 1 out of 5 by Assoum47 This hotel is a complete disappointment
When I booked at sheraton/Gambia, I was expecting the usual high standards of excellent services which this worldly hotel enjoys.unfortunately, the hotel in The Gambia is lacking behind in every respect: no hot water available, bad meals, rooms contaminated with bugs of all sorts, water leaking into the room when it is raining, the swimmiing pool is unde maintainance, the lift never work properly......etc

Rated 4 out of 5 by Howard05 Nice but needs a bit more
I was in the Gambia on business not vacation so my needs were different from the usual vacationer. With that in mind, the most difficult item to deal with was the lack of reliable internet service. I realize that this type of service is not first in the entire country, but there are alternatives such as the QCELL network which I have used elsewhere on prior visits.

The reception was warm! You'd think you were in the company of old friends. The room was simply furnished, but cosy and beautiful. Meal (especially dessert) were on time and to die for.
The entire experience helped us forget the balmy weather (we visited in during the rainy season).
This was my second visit........there will definitely be more!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Le2CV Lost staff
This hotel is not regular Sheraton.
Whats good? Rooms are comfortable, good views. Food is OK.
Whats BAD ?
Service is TERRIBLE in general and the staff attitude is they do not seem to care. Management are trying but the staff are simply clueless. Reception staff are mostless clueless and "all training" so as soon as you ask a question they have to ask the 1 person who knows, who is always swamped! So i always talked with the airline staff lady Susan at night shift who does know her job.
TV channels ON/OFF i never know if it is my room or all hotel.....i call IT and they don't know either. Gladly i had no problems with my room unlike my work friend who had so many, except securtiy wake me at 2am to ask if i am checking out next day. If i wasn't checking out i would have changed hotels !
I'm lost as what anyone can do at this hotel, mayby softly softly approach here doesn't work. Line the staff up and fire someone because their attitude is wrong, warn the rest "you are next"unless you TRY HARDER.
This hotel must imporve or it can't remain a Sheraton !!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by uglibug1 Small things let it down - shame.
Lovely setting and location and on the whole a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately it lets itself down with silly little things like:
Pool - main pool was ok but around it was messy with pipes and the pool liner was creased and again looked messy. A large area that looked as if it should have been a 'beach' type pool for children simply looked abandoned and dirty.
Food - variable standard. Some days it was excellent with lots of good dishes to choose from, hot and fresh. But other days there was little choice, dishes not restocked and the food was cold. If everyday could be like their good days then it would be spot on.
Staff - all seemed friendly but on the whole they are pretty inefficient - they all seem try to do a bit of everything (in their own time) whereas if they worked as an organised team they would provide a better service without having to work any harder! 'Time & motion' review could sort this v quickly.
This hotel is so close to being 'perfect'. We had a fantastic week lazing in the wonderful sunshine, in a wonderful setting during the day and then sipping wine into the night in the wonderful outdoor dining areas. The evening entertainment was good - local bands/groups.

I was disappointed with the up keep and service at this facility . The hotel is located in a beautiful location so it is a pity that it is not being maintained . The food quality was below average with a very limited menu .
The service was very poor and disorganized.
On arrival I had to change rooms for a couple times because in each case there were things that needed repair. Wifi signal was weak at the resort and kept on experiencing dropped signal.

Rated 4 out of 5 Sheraton for the first time
I have scored the Sheraton Gambia with high regard. I feel this is due to the staff, comfort, clenliness and friendlyness.
Three staff members were particularly outstanding and I would like the Sheraton management to pass on our thanks. Omar in reception, Salayman the elctrician and Victoria our housekeeper. Whilst all the staff went out of their way for us these 3 people were exceptional to help us with the happiest of holidays.
Our room was luxury, the view was stunning and everyone cared about us.
We found the bar alcohol prices a little exspensive but we would definately book again. Karen and Joseph GB

The hotel is in a great location but you cannot take it away from the staff they are brilliant and a credit to the hotel.. Personally not a 5 star hotel more like a 3/4 star but definitely a place to be able to chill out... The Spa is very good and I had a massage and facial which we're both excellent.

Staff: very friendly and waited on us hand and foot. Special thanks to reception, bar and restaurant staff for helping me to learn Wolof. Any questions or issues were sorted out by reception in a matter of seconds.
Room: lovely sized room with bath and shower room. Partial sea view from the ground floor.
Facilities: spa treatments reasonably priced. I recommend the 'couples retreat'. Pool is a good size and adequately clean. On the beach (which is private). Activities such as French boulles, volleyball, aqua aerobics take place morning and afternoon. All public area toilets were spotless. Free wifi in reception area was painfully slow. Cocktails not included in the all inclusive deal but were reasonably priced.
Food: excellent. Good choice, fresh, excellent quality, efficient service. Sometimes held indoors if it's cold/windy, or outside if the evenings are warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Omofresh FOREMOST DESTINATION IN AFRICA
My first time in Gambia, and I can say my best holiday so far. My wife loved the environment, and my 2-year old Son couldn't stop running around the garden and the beach. It was nice, and had to extend my initial 7 days stay to 10 days. However, few hiccups that present opportunity for improvement. -tea/coffee during breakfast takes long to come, better to place them in a corner for people to serve themselves. It is a buffet anyway! Would also have loved to see some local African dishes on the menu. finally, my last 2 days was without hot water in the shower as well, I had to request for bucket to use hot water from the kettle in the room to bath my little boy.
The people were really nice and polite and will definitely go back soon!

The hotel was overall wonderful. Correction of several issues would be beneficial. First, one cannot immediately access the TV channels (BBC) - a message appears that says the account has not been paid. When reported to the desk, they corrected the problem remotely. But then it happened again 2 days later - very annoying. On 2 occasions water in shower was tepid (at best). Since everyone must walk to and from the from the restaurant/lobby, please put an umbrella in each room during the rainy season.

This was our first time in the Gambia and we were blown away with our experience. The staff went out of their way to make our holiday very special. The food in the restaurant was consistently great and a credit to the catering team. The staff in the pool area and bars were friendly and efficient and our room was comfortable, Thank you for a great holiday.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RM99 All-Inclusive is not worth it
The hotel met my expectations in general. Staff were mostly happy and friendly, even though the service did not meet the standards.
The all-inclusive is definitely not worth it. Drinks and food from the all-inclusive are not good at all, except the beer and water.
The pool-guys were nice and helpful.
Highly recommend the hotel staff to check the safety boxes before the guest checks in. It wasn't working both times we checked in, and heard other customers complain about the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Emmaculate Perfect location for couples & family vacation
The location of the Hotel (ocean view with the cool breeze all throughout the day and night) is superb and ideal to provide an environment of peace, rejuvenation and relaxation. The originality of the concept/design of the buildings which highlights traditional african setting is the best we have experienced so far. The food, recreational facilities i.e. pool, spa , sauna, warmth of the hotel staff contributed immensely to a fantastic stay at the Hotel.
